    LCD, ewww…

Having gone through my share of burn in trauma I've learned to love anything where you don't have to worry about burn in.

Never had any burn in with Samsung AMOLED screens. And even if there was a risk of burn in, I would still pick an AMOLED screen.

LCD screen on a 'premium' tablet is eww

        • Yes I've heard this argument many times, and always from people who haven't experienced burn in - yet.

Burn in is an inevitable fact of OLED technology. It's just a matter of when, which is massively affected by how careful you are in using it.

I used to be carefree but now spend a ton of time being paranoid and nagging people about appropriate use of an oled TV, so am not looking to go through that again with a tablet thanks.

@B3: I've been using Samsung mobile phones for over a decade now and a phone gets used more than a tablet. I also have a galaxy tab s4 which is still in perfect condition. A TV OLED isn't the same, I think you are being paranoid in this case.

Regardless, the point is this tablet is over $800, it deserves a better screen, or a lower price.

@greatlamp: My samsung note 9 had horrible burn in from playing games with static HUD elements.

        • My old Galaxy S8 had pretty bad burn in.

    • What's wrong with lcd screens? I can't tell any difference between the s8 and s8 ultra in-store or my s21. Is the contrast ratio worse in low light like TVs e.g. qled vs oled?

This or stick with s7 plus ?

    • +2

S7 plus. Screen much better and actual upgrade would be the s8+ or ultra

    • +1

Stick with the Plus, dig into the tablet market again maybe early 2024.

    • +1

I would def stick with s7 plus, owner here too, I mean for consumption usage, its already pretty good.

    • +1

The Sd8 gen 1 on the S8 doesn't play nice with some emulators, and it's pretty throttled. Stick to the S7+

  • +1

Diff between s8 vs a8 (that one from Optus deal)?

    • premium vs budget

  • Want the ultra.
