It's what we use - I have an old galaxy note 4 that is basically the dedicated monitor for it, but we also have the app on both our phones. My family are overseas so it's great because they can view baby whenever he's in the crib. Audio and image quality are also very good, but granted yeah it's expensive. Purchased from amazon at $347 for the full stands. I'm very happy with it though.

Cons: if the internet goes down then these don't work, and also moving it elsewhere, like when we visited the in laws requires basically resetting it and setting it up again for the new network, so it's a bit of a kerfuffle.

    • I have one and it works quite well. Notifications are instant or max 2-3 sec delay when you get a crying one.

The AI one is a bit wonky if you have towels in the cot that can be considered a baby shape (like rolled up) it will detect a baby and then say it didn't detect.

As long as you keep it mainly clean in the cot you'll be fine.

    • I've had one for a year now.

The video and audio quality is great, the app is easy to use. I don't really use the AI functionality. Cubo support is also really good, they have a live chat and usually respond right away.

I do wish it had a few more features that the Arlo Baby had including:

Air quality - this is useful to tell if your kid has crapped the cot
Homekit - I like being able to set up my own dash and play with automations, eg poo alerts based on air quality

We had one but gave it to family friends as the core functions can be replaced with more reliable cameras like Eufy or Wyze, which are $50-$100 cameras.
It depends if you’re interested in the smart features, otherwise it’s expensive for something with no parent unit.

    • They are ok until you need to deal with warranty.

I got mine from Amazon, on the 13th month it decided to stop syncing so no video feed no matter how it was reset. I went to Cubo for support and was told since it's out of the 12-month warranty, I would need to ship it to Korea to be fixed, on my own cost including returns. Alternatively, they suggested I buy a refurbished unit from them at a discounted price, not including shipping from Korea.

I just noped out of the way, went to Amazon and got a full refund back.

    • Highly recommend it. All we use

    • Thanks. Grabbed one from Amazon so that it can be returned if necessary. Don't fancy dealing with the company, going by some reviews

  • Think you might have messed up the title.

Up to 303% off means they’re paying you 203% of the original price to have their product.
    Deal of a lifetime, haha.

Yeah I fat fingered it. Should be corrected now.

Can't speak for this specific camera, but we use a Eufy 2k Tilt & Pan in my son's nursery and really happy with it. We use a cheap tablet as the baby monitor for it as well so we can still use our phones.

  • just get a dumb RF one, will cause you less anxieties. Does everything you need.

Used the code CUBOFAM when we bought this morning and it got us $20 off. Wife found the code on a FB baby group.

Missed out on $5. Updated and thank you!

  • Cubo are well rated but they have the same problem you encounter with any wi-fi only baby monitor. You have to use an app, which means you can't easily use it as a constant baby monitor. You instead rely on the camera picking up crying or other triggers, then notifying you so you can open the app and check what it is. Some have reported that it's usually fast but sometimes takes a long time to notify you. Also, some phones have aggressive control over background usage so depending on your phone, notifications could be a problem. It all really depends how worried you are about what your baby is doing.

A cheaper alternative is to get a Wyze camera and set it to trigger off noise or movement. It won't have all the extra features (baby face covered, etc) and you'll get many false alarms, but otherwise it's not the worst option.

Personally I went with a cheaper monitor and a Wyze cam as backup. The monitor means that we can keep it active all the time and use our own ears for alerts, and the Wyze cam lets me remotely check on the kid.

Connect it to a Google Nest Home and you can monitor all day just fine.

    • +4

Go to camera settings and enable background audio. This allows you to monitor audio even when your phone is locked. I often do this if I am outside gardening whilst my bub is sleeping inside.

Or use a Google Nest home as a monitor as HoochieMamma suggested.

you can't easily use it as a constant baby monitor.

This makes very little sense to me sorry? You absolutely can have it sitting on your iPad monitoring your child all day and night if you like, with volume up as high as you like, even with all AI monitoring turned off. You can even enable the background audio option which turns your device into an audio monitor even when your phone is locked.

Awesome camera, highly recommend, but the AI alerts get annoying and are occasionally inaccurate. Having a wifi based camera is the best, we have it running on the ipad most of the time, but at night we can be in bed and quickly use our phones to monitor if we have any concerns.

      • This background audio monitor sounds like the function I was looking for, compared to our old RF handset unit.

Was considering this last year but went with the VTech RM7754HD instead. Currently on sale for $303 and runs laps around this in terms of sheer convenience and functionality
    https://www.amazon.com.au/VTech-RM7754HD-Monitor-Remote-Acce…

    • Looks good in terms of functionality (dedicated video monitor and remote access) but have read the battery life is only 3 hours which is horrible.

      • Battery life isn't great if you've got the screen cranked up at max brightness. You can set the screen to auto wake if the camera detects movement or sound. I've left the monitor running all night (with these settings) without plugging in and I've had no issues with the monitor chugging along for 12-13 hours easily

  • Keep in mind that there's a subscription for some of the premium features after the first year.

I'm currently trying to decide between the Cubo, Nanit and the Miku. The Nanit has a subscription too and the Miku seems hard to get for a decent price in Australia.

    • +2

Someone can correct me, but my understanding was that the subscription just provides more storage of sleeping patterns, videos, pictures, etc.

Without the paid subscription, most of the features are still available.

      • Correct

  • Is the wall mount included with the 3 stand option?

    • No doesn't look like it.

Includes Cubo Ai Plus camera and 3 stand options: floor base, crib attachment and mobile stand.

  • Genuinely curious, whats the difference between dedicated baby monitors like these (expensive $300+) versus those $100 EUFY or Xiaomi indoor cameras?

    • +2

Gimmicks. You can achieve similar for much less. I’d suggest something with a parent unit and remote access so you can use your phone if you want but also just have the parent unit nearby.

    • Can't speak about the Eufy or Xiaomi specifically, but if you're interested in buying a baby cam one thing to keep in mind is the night video quality. That's what you'll use 99% of the time, not the beautiful full light/colour shots they often advertise. A year ago when I bought a Cubo it had by far the best night vision camera quality, but not sure now.

Some of the suggested brands in other comments it's hard to even find examples of their night mode… all you get is 'enhanced night mode' with just greyscale versions of their colour photos. Very dodgy.

Other notable additions are the night/status lights, being able to operate them from your phone is great. You can also use this is in an audio monitor mode with your phone/tablet device off, and it has temp and humidity too.

      • I had a look at the Cubo night video quality on Youtube and honestly I can't see it being any different from my $100 Eufy/Xiaomi indoor 2K cameras. Is the Cubo in 4K? The only thing that's missing is temp and humidity but my house has centralised climate controls anyway.

        • +2

Regarding night quality I was referring more to other recommended baby monitors. If you want to compare 1 for 1 then there's a few features of the Cubo that a normal security camera doesn't have.

          • Temp and humidity at the crib (can be quite a bit different to the location of a central heating/cooling sensor).
          • Microphone only monitoring mode while your device is locked.
          • Subtle night lighting you can control from your phone (more handy than you may assume)
          • White noise (though admittedly it's not a great white noise).
          • Crib detection zones that know when you're assisting the child and record it (handy for knowing how often you're assisting overnight)
          • Much better recorded history (not sure what the indoor Eufy is like but my external Eufy I can't just scrub back and replay any second over the last 24 hours)
          • AI alerts for specific things (Covered face which is very important early on, cough, cry, danger zones for when they're toddlers etc),
          • Sleep analytics that are actually quite accurate.
          • Comes with a good quality floor stand and a small mobile stand (The Nanit camera floor stand costs over $100US on its own)

If all you want is a camera then the Eufy will get you most of the way there I'm sure, but I hope that goes some way to answering why there might be a price disparity.

Thanks op! Just bought it last month for 399 but havent opened yet! Will return it and buy this =)

I think of you bought it off Amazon, you may be able to ask them to refund you the difference.

  • Been using the cubo for the past 1.5 years, i'm super happy with it. The picture quality is suburb and never had an issue.

Not my preference to spend so much but the configuration of my unit meant we had to use a IP camera and not the traditional radio wave (tried, didn't work). I did so much research and the cheaper cameras had certain issues that we just couldn't live with so bit the bullet and bought the cubo, luckily on Prime day so it was cheaper than normal.

  • Any chance Amazon will add a coupon code (stacked with the 30%) off so they are matching the direct price?
I have Amazon gift cards to burn but would hate to pay more.

    • Worth chatting to Amazon Support and see if they will price match. From past experience, support has been really good.

      • They said no :|. Worth a shot.

    • Where are you seeing a better price?

      • oops just realised what you meant

  • Been using the original since 2020 and hasn't missed a beat, had an issue with lens flares and they replaced it quickly.

Don't need any of the premium features, it was good to check the wake windows daily etc. when they are 0 - 9 months but once you have a good sleep routine you rely on it less.

When I travel with it, I have a GL router that uses the same WiFi credentials so it works without any dramas at other homes.
