  • It's $27.50 cashback for Kayo

  • Ok

Easy process, got approved without a phone call or email.

    • Same. I recently signed up to this deal. It was easy process.
Already $2.4k spent. Waiting to reach my 3k mark for my points.

  • +5

Painful process for me, they wanted months of unredacted bank statements because they got confused by an allowance on my payslip.

Ended up cancelling the application as they kept asking for more and more information despite having provided them more than any other bank in years of churning.

100k points can be transferred to KrisFlyer at rate of 2:1. Most other credit cards rewards programs have a rate of 3:1 - pretty generous.

    • Yeah I got fine them to be quite generous compared to others as well.

    • Good to know- even more useful now that KF points are devalued. Hopefully they bring back 15% bonus transfer sometime in Nov too.

    • Can one transfer points to Qantas?

      • No, that's not an option. If you want a QFF earning card I think the ANZ platinum or Black are the best out there ATM.

        • Thanks for the answer.
          I have amex platinum.

  • Can you get this an have had a Qantas Rewards or no?

    • Probs not I'm guessing since that's Amplify too just under the Qantas banner

  • Took it up last time just for Kayo, they are (still) claiming I first have to meet the 3k spend criteria to her monthly kayo.

No where in Ts Cs does it dys it's required, nor would it make sense as unlike the 100k points, kayo is refunded monthly from day 1.

Anyway, that's the fun you look forward to

    • that's crazy.
are they saying you will get all 12x $27.50 from kayo reimbursements once the 3k spend is met?

People in the older threads have got their monthly reimbursements from what I have read. If I were you, I would lodge a complaint.

To receive your cashback the monthly subscription fee (currently $27.50 for Kayo Basic, $35/mth for Kayo Premium and $25/mth for Kayo One) will be billed to your new Amplify Rewards Platinum card. Then, within 30 business days of each billing, you will receive your relevant cashback as a statement credit on your Card Account. This monthly cashback will apply for the first 12 months from the card approval and does not form part of the account’s minimum monthly repayment.

FYI I signed up to this card a month or so ago, and Kayo was just billed today.
Will see if I get a reimbursement.

    • +1

Got my kayo reimbursement without meeting 3k spend.

  • good deal

Instantly got denied for this card. I make $3000 a month, have close to 20k in savings and have total monthly expenses of ~1500. Only hold one other credit card but on $2000 credit limit and 0 owing. No loans or anything. Why would I be denied especially since there doesnt seem to be required annual wage

    • +1

Yes i feel for you because you sound like s perfect candidate. Although $3k a month income is a low threshold for a card like this. I say a 4.5 - 5k p.m income will get you the green light.

Or perhaps you've had too many cdt applications within the last 2months or so? Those BNPY and phone plans can put a record on your credit score and if to many applications in a short period of time it can be denied.

      • +1

My income isnt super high, yes but I thought my 0 loans, low expenses and 20k savings would make up for it.
I have only applied for 1 credit card in the last 2 or so months (Denied due to low annual income). I dont use BNPY services and my credit score is ~780. I'm left scratching my head here. Thanks for your input!

        • Credit score 820. Got rejected.

        • +2

Savings don't count. Doesn't matter about the balance on your existing CC. They work out the repayments for if you max it out, your cost of living will be put against an algorythm they use, if it's too low they will bump it up. I'd say your $3k a month just isn't enough.

Have you churned Westpac/BoM/BankSA/St. George cards before?

I make $2100~ a fortnight but was approved even with a $15,000 ANZ card on the side, though I also have my home loan with St. George.

      • I have churned a Westpac card earlier this year. I wasn't too sure if they were in the same group. I saw some information that said they werent. I do have a feeling this might be the reason why. Thanks

        • All owned by Westpac if slightly structurally separate, doubtlessly they share info though yeah.

    • My partner just got rejected today. She’s earning 8k/month, 0 credit card, no loan, some savings. She’s asking for an 6k credit limit though. Is it a red flag lol?
I myself got rejected last promotions. My wage is more than 6k/month btw.
Pretty sure they have a shytti automatic system…

    • +1

It's a platinum card, so minimum credit limit is probably $6k. Savings don't mean too much, and $20k isn't a lot a lot either.

  • Somehow I still prefer Amplify Qantas Signature over it as it gives 90,000 QFF points and 2 lounge passes. I wonder if the travel insurance for these cards provides cover for COVID?

  • Horrible onboarding experience - I was made to go to a branch to physically verify myself for whatever reason

  • +1

Note the fee is $0 for existing customers, so if you're feeling extra cheap can open a transaction account or something first.

    • Additional $40 cashback with some conditions on the transaction account too!

      • as long as you haven't already got a $40 from BoM, BankSA.

  • How many payslips do they ask for ?

  • Applied for the higher tier card on 6 July and heard nothing from St. George for almost a week but was approved this morning with no further questions asked.

(I'm an existing customer who held a few $nil balance transaction accounts which were still open from previous promotions.)

  • instant rejection :(

Just a warning for st George:
Applied 20 June for a credit card with st George, conditionally approved, still not processed.
Asked updates +- twice a week, latest promise is they will respond in 2 business days…
Worst application I've had for CC so far.

    • +1

I have the same issue. Applied 29 June and was conditionally approved. Sent payslips (via email) and get an automated sms to state it’s received. Still not processed even after a follow up.

It’s the worst credit card application experience I’ve been through.

  • Anyone know if the application straight up gets rejected, does it affect credit rating? Thinking of lowering limit from 20k to 10k and re-aplply.

    • +1

If you apply twice, you'll have two enquiries on your history. There more enquiries you have in a short period, the bigger the hit to the rating. Best to apply in a month or so… although this depends on what your credit score currently is. I've applied for two cards on the same day, and got both. If you have a lowish rating now I wouldn't.

      • I have checked my credit report. there is no mention. Does it get tracked straight away?

        • Not straight away no. One of my most recent took a couple of weeks I think.

    • +3

I would definitely not bother applying with this mob again in a short time.
After the latest promise on update "within 2 business days" - I still have no update at all.

  • +3

Lol, conditionally approved, just needed to provide payslips. Have been chasing them for a month, now called them "it was just actioned today - declined" - no explanation why. Well, not that I wanted to become a real St George customer anyway.
Oops: this was for the Qantas card. Anyway, issue I have is with St George and application process and lack of updates.

To all those who got the instant rejection (and would normally be approved), did you open a new account just before applying to avoid the annual fee?

I've found they've been clamping down people who do this. Not a quick solution, but I've found leaving the account open for >1 month will put you back in the green before applying for the card.

On a different note, had anyone tried the 'hack' of claiming the annual fee rebate in hopes of it slipping through the system and ending up as statement credit? 18k points for $99 credit vs 22.xk points for $100 Woolies gift card. I know it works on Westpac cards (was successful earlier this year), yet to try with St George

    • To all those who got the instant rejection (and would normally be approved), did you open a new account just before applying to avoid the annual fee?

I've found they've been clamping down people who do this.

I opened account, then applied for card.
Only got rejection a month later, but yes looks like this could be the case.

    • I opened an account, waited 3 days, then applied and got approved.

      • how long does it take for approval?

        • few days

          • @bohn: I submitted additional doc on 29/07 after being conditionally approved. Still no news yet.

            • @hawkeye93: Did you get it or are you still waiting ?

  • +2

St. George are terrible to deal with. Never again, no matter the deal.

  • Horrible. Rejected, but probably because I recently opened their transaction account.

    • I waited 3 days before applying and had no problem.

  • I was awarded the bonus points, before the first statement month ended, without meeting the spend requirement. Sometimes their uselessness pays off.

    • +1

nice. cancel and re-apply in 12mths

  • Does paying by account transfer count as a cash advance with this card?

  • Has anybody gotten around the "Not available in conjunction with other Kayo offers" condition noted in the Terms & Conditions? I am already with Kayo on one of Telstra's 15/m deals; however, pay on a regular billing platform (credit card). I am unsure if that would mean:
    a) I could simply change my credit cards over to the Amplify and get the cashback or
    b) I would need to cancel my current $15/kayo and sign up on a different CC with Amplify as my biller.

For reference, the T&C's note: If you’re already with Kayo, simply switch your Amplify Rewards Platinum credit card as the payment method to get the cashback for up 12 months from card approval. Offer not available via any third-party billing platform including iTunes billing or Telstra billing. Not available in conjunction with other Kayo offers.

    • +1

that would be in conjunction if used with the $15/month. you would need to pay the regular price without promo for the rebate

  • Will paying down car rego using this card count as eligible spend?

  • Anyone know how quickly St George pay their points.

And also how quickly Commbank pay their points.

I need to earn points from both before 30th September to make the 350K point club

    • mine were received as soon as I met the spend, mid-statement period.

      • Ok sweet…

I wonder if CBA will be so kind

I'm a chance then to break the magic $350k

  • So i applied for this credit card ($6,000 credit limit) despite the warnings shared by other Ozbargainers. So far, it has been 3 weeks, they made me go to a branch to merge 2 profiles, provide additional docs in conjunction with payslips and now want me to call them again to verify certain details (all very mysterious). Anyway I called and was advised the wait time was longer than 30 minutes so I hung up and will try later. I have had credit cards with ANZ, NAB and Citi before ( no new applications in the last 3 months) and none of them made me jump through so many hoops. Westpac (parent company of St George) and all its subsidiaries are f****** terrible. I can't believe I have already spent so much time on this application and have got a credit enquiry on my credit statement/score and have to spend yet more time. What a joke!

  • Has anyone with a St. George home loan applied for one of these? I read somewhere that the home loan package can include a credit card as well. So do you apply for this separately and then get them to add it to the package to remove the annual fee?

    • I recently switched my home loan to St George but it's just the basic variable rates and not a package so it doesn't apply to mine.

It sounds like the exact same package that I had with CBA that you get one CC with the annual fee waived. Double check your home loan with ST George.

Also, since I am an existing customer, the application process was dead fast and already have conditional approval. I guess they know my finances hence the prompt process

  • Applied for the existing customer offer. Wednesday night, conditionally approved. Sent payslips in & approved by midday Thursday. Just waiting for the card in the mail.

Makes ANZ's offshore processing unit look like a joke. Although St George's online banking layout looks like it was created by someone with a Bachelor of Arts or some other useless degree.

  • Can anyone confirm if you can get the 60,000 QF Bonus points from this card?

It's showing up as an offer on this page: https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/frequent-f…

But once you actually click into it, it doesn't make a reference to the QF Bonus Points, only Amplify Points: https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/rewards/am…
