Get on the max great phone

The caveat is that you won’t have the full video function due to storage limitations. Referring to ProRes feature

      • I have 256gb

        • Then you have no restrictions on enabling ProRes while shooting video. 128 GB is limited due to Apple lock.

  • Iphone 13 deals are for 128gb variant only and I suppose we can buy outright?

    • +3

that why it gives the price lol

    • Yes but I would say you need to be a Telstra member.

      • From the FAQs:

Do I have to be a Telstra customer to shop Telstra Day?
You don’t need to be a Telstra customer, but you do have to have a Telstra ID to checkout at the store for Telstra Day.
New customers looking to take up Telstra Day device or accessory offers can just simply add it to their no lock-in plan online at purchase.

        • So I can buy the phone with the cheapest plan and cancel the plan afterwards, essentially the phone cost the listed price + 1 month plan cost?

          • @dango23: Yup. I did it in one of the earlier deals for an S21.

            • @biz: awesome, thanks!

            • @biz: Can i continue to pay phone over 12 months or need to pay off my phone in single payment if i cancel plan after 1 month ?

By continuing, you’re committing to paying for both the device and a data plan for every month of your 12, 24 or, for eligible devices, 36 month payment term. If you cancel, you’ll need to pay out your device as one payment at the time you leave. Please carefully review your selections to ensure you’re able to meet all payment obligations.

            • -1

              @biz: $674 256 GB shoulda bought 2

          • @dango23: Or you can get a free month of home wireless.

          • @dango23: They had outright pricing also. Did this for Iphone 12 a while back.

          • @dango23: Yes. I just bought one. Tried doing it without a plan, no dice. Tried doing it after activating a $10 prepaid plan, also no dice. Had to cave and sign up for the cheapest plan offered with the iPhone.

I suppose noone would buy the pro versions with only 128gb hence the heavy discount… Even with the iphone 13, 128gb seems light if you take photos/videos.

      • Shouldn’t be an issue if you offload regularly.

    • +1

256gb variant showing as on sale

  • +2

Can you price match with JB on that day?

  • +11

    Where’s the 13 Miniiii :’)

  • Would love some deals on Samsung tablets!

  • Any pixel deals?

    • +6

Well, technically speaking, they all are.

    • Pixel deal has gone me think. Pixel6 pro was down to 1049 last week plus 100 voucher from harvey norman

      • Cheers mate👍

      • It'll probably drop more when the 6a drops at the end of the month.

  • S22 ultra is a good price? 🤔

    • +4

      It's the 128GB, and no

      • Need 2 of them. What's our ozbargain pull the trigger price on a S22 Ultra these days please? Somehow got into a 3 year contract with Woolworths in an S10+ 512GB last payment was a week ago. Contract ends in a couple of weeks. Wife and I updating after too long. Battery barely hanging on but it'll make it. Thinking outright might be clever this time.

        • +1

          Yeah outright is generally better.

          • +1

@batrarobin: Must have had rocks in my head day I signed up 36months. Most here baulk at 24m. Won't do it again. 12m I imagine is fine.

        • +4

          I wouldn't buy a s22 ultra 256gb over $1300, and that's being generous.

At it's lowest price the s21 ultra 512gb & 16gb ram came to around $1250 (so clearly more expensive hardware than the s22), however that was with several stacked coupons on the Samsung store which probably will never be repeated.

          • @greatlamp: Thanks. I'll keep my eyes peeled. Need to move on it over the coming couple of weeks. Hard to pin down the best offer with all the wild plans. Trade this in, take $10 a month off this via chat, turn around 3 times, etc

        • +7

          S10+… Battery barely hanging on

This is unsolicited advice, which you might already know:

The S10+ is a flagship 2019 phone (3 years old). I have a Note10+ which is 6mo younger. My est. battery capacity is 3,785 mAh, off an original capacity of 4,170 mAh (-9.2% loss). I haven't noticed a difference in my phone's charge longevity.

Lithium batteries accrue most their degradation at the extremes of their charge/discharge cycle, so closest to 100% and closest to 0%. A 50% charge is it's most stable state. Functional, if you can keep you battery on a charge/discharge cycle between 20% and 80%, the degradation to battery capacity will occur at an 82% slower rate. In other words, if you notice a significant loss of capacity at the 3 year mark, you could theoretically delay that to 16.8 years (i.e. beyond the probable natural lifespan of the phone for other reasons).

iOS and Android don't allow you to place limits on it's charging. Apparently you can jailbreak the OS to install software that can do that. Jailbreaking is probably not palatable for most. A good alternative is setting a notification (with an alarm) at 80% so that you're alerted to removing it off the charger. I use AccuBattery, which is freeware for the non-premium service, and is a great resource for all other battery related information.

I'll probably keep my Note10+ for as long as I feel there isn't a significant difference in accrued iterative improvements with newer phones. Comparing to the S22 Ultra this year, there isn't that much of a leap. Having a flagship phone, like any premium electronic device, is expensive to buy-in, and value is defined by how long you can keep it.

          • @muwu: Thank you so much for this. Genuinely food for thought and I really appreciate the information you shared. Thanks again :)

            • +5

@seamonkey: Samsung let you limit to 85% "Protect Battery" in the more battery settings on my s21.

              • @Cobular: TIL

Option available on my Note10+ (which has Android 12). Thank-you!

        • Jb hifi is price matching Telstra s22 prices, I have the same s10+ it was valued at… $184ish. So extra $500 trade in bonus, you can get the 512gb s22 ultra for $116x

        • hey, i am also buying this and i have gotten it matched to samsung edu by jb. they had it for $1479. if u have access to a edu accont they give a free leather case with it

          • @Ryan1221: Are you able to share a screenshot of this in cart? S22 ultra 256gb black?

            • @Nickoconn: Yeah sure, u just missed out they had the 256gb one for 1479 for EOFY. I will send it on PM to u ;)

      • I got my s22 ultra 512 for 1k3 a few months ago, SS phone value is going down pretty quick with those trade in etc

        • Was that $1,300 after trade-in?

  • Might be worth waiting for the 14 if you can wait, it's expected in September.

    • It's going to be a lot more than $999 though

      • +1

This deal has it for over $1500 so yeah definitely will be more. I meant that for those that want the latest it's only a couple of months away, and for the bargain hunters, deals on the 13 series will hit around then to move some older stock.

        • It didn't last year, the 12 Pro & 13 Pro held around the same price with no significant price drop on the 12 Pro.

          • @starspawn: 13 was just a refinement over the 12 not sure how different the 14 is gonna be.

            • @Top G: theres gonna be cutouts & redesign on the 14's screen apparently according to the latest leaks, so that might be worth the wait

              • @Sleeepy: The articles I've read say the base level won't be a lot different but the higher end ones will.

    • +1

Waiting for iPhone15 (that is skipping iPhone14), specially considering it will come with usb c port. Meanwhile get iPhone13 after 14 launch. Not going to miss anything apart from always on display and lockscreen widgets.

      • There's a chance type c will only be for the EU market, I wouldn't put it past apple.

      • +5

Why not wait for iPhone 19

  • Damn, just purchased an iphone 13 for $1,235 from officeworks last Friday using price beat guarantee.from this deal

    • +1

You can still go back to them and get it price beaten to the Telstra day deal and get the balance refunded (no harm in just trying).

      • Yeah might give it a go. I think this deal goes live at 1am so I'll keep my fingers crossed they don't sell out before the store opens

        • +2

Or just buy from this deal and return it (new iPhone from Telstra) to Officeworks with receipt if they accept change of mind returns.

          • @MiscOzB: Just looking into returns policy now 👍

            • +2

@Goldberg: Check the receipt, it may have a serial number on it. Or not, but they could keep the serial number in their system too.

              • +1

@tukanglistrik: Just spoke with OW manager at the store i purchased from and i have a guarantee that if the offer is still available when i land there at the crack of dawn Thursday they'll refund and i can repurchase

                • @Goldberg: Will they not take a return of an open phone? I am also on the same boat - bought it online though, called and they suggested to walk in the store to return as for open items discretion lies with the store manager.

                  • @IMadeYouReadThis: I'll be repurchasing the same phone though, which has been opened.

                    • @Goldberg: lucky you, I have been told that they can't price match/beat Telstra deals. Also, no return on iPhones once they are open :(

Luckily I only paid $1172 so loss is not significant :)

  • Any chance of getting the iphone 13 mini added in to this too?

    • +13

As the founder of Telstra - No.

  • Thanks OP, great pricing on the 13 pro max!

  • +5

Having many issues with Telstra previously, thought i would setup my account (new account) in preparation for Telstra day. Obviously there were problems so had to do a chat support session with Alex. Could not use my drivers license as id on the telstra acc as i had it registered with boost.

So i can use my boost details to log in and order
Alex "Yes that is correct. You can use that account for ordering the device outright"

Does it included the 256 gb model Pro Max?
Alex "It also applies on the 256GB model"

Alex "You can order the device outright at the nearest Tshop in your area and you can get the device on that day."

Not to say i totally trust Alex from previous Telstra experiences, but it is enough to make me take a look on Thursday

    • +2

I'm in the exact same boat as you - hope it goes well

  • is that a good price for the flip 3? been thinking of getting one for the wife.

    • This is a way better deal for the flip 3: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/710477

      • ah i did see that, but none of the phones i have on hand are worth anything on their list. Unless there's a cheap phone i can buy instore & trade in

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

Also consider the JB Hi-Fi trade-in which may come out cheaper for you, with some effort. (If one happens to have a unsellable eligible device, or can source one on the cheap. In addition to stomaching their ID upload and selfie checks.)

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/710477

Although there's at least a couple in there chiming in about screen creases after a few months which is a bit shit, IMO.

    • The display flip at JB Hi-Fi in Marion was fine - but the fold had obvious actual splits in the screen protector as well as creases. Then again, the fold would have been there a bit longer.

  • Damn parents just bought an iPhone 13 pro max from Apple on the weekend at RRP.

Is it best to return and rebuy from Telstra? Or would Apple refund the difference?

    • Look at the return period from Apple; I think it is 14 days no questions asked. Talk to your parents they might not want to setup twice. If it was me I would secure the new one before returning the old one. Either that or see if Apple will price match refund.

      • Apple do not pricematch iPhone, let alone, if they price match, 10% max (bought Macbook pro and 10% was maxed)

      • +3

Thanks! Will secure a new one first - they definitely would be lazy about setting up a new phone again, they also traded in a old phone to make things more complicated!

Spoke to Apple, they can refund 10%, so around $150 on the day

    • unlikely Apple would refund the difference.. least in my experience (bought Airpods, cheaper at OW - so i returned them and bought from OW)

    • +2

Apple has 14 days no question refund. get the phone from Telstra Day deal, do a phone to phone transfer and then return the original back to Apple.

*Tip: if you start your Apple return online, it gives you another 10-14 days to ship it back to them. Extending that period to almost a month.

  • So the deal doesn’t apply to 256gb?

    • Look like it.

      • Anyone able to confirm that? How much will it be for the 13 pro max 256gb ?

        • +7

Telstra chat said the 256 was included in the sale, i did not get an exact price. Assume it is $300 off

  • +2

Tempted by A73, but question is will it be cheaper on Prime day…

    • Or may be interested in S21 FE?

  • 13 Pro Max or wait for 14 Max?

Seems like 14 Max release price will be similar to this pro Max price. So missing out on extra camera and pro motion. Put gaining better selfie cam (if leaks are right).

Probably same chip so similar updates/longevity.

    Thoughts, apple fans?

I'm an Android user looking to switch, don't care about mobile gaming or anything but value battery life and can't live with small screen.

    • 15 Max

    • +1

If you are asking yourself this question, you'd better wait.

  • Is this going to stack with telstra alumni discount or telstra employee?

  • Are these unlocked to external networks?
