  • Good deal for local stock!
I use this headset for gaming and its great… For anything else other than games it doesn't really perform that well.

  • So these work with movies too?

I've got this strange feeling that these headphones have been posted before and people complained that it only worked with games.

    • Games only

      • +1

        Damn, that's a dealbreaker.

        • You can definitely use them for movies but they will not produce 7.1 (simulated) - they will only do stereo.
They hook up to windows and mac also very easily.

        • They do work with movies. However in only in 2.0 stereo.
They also work on a PC.

**EDIT Ted beat me to it.

        • Great at least they work

  • Please note that this is a stereo headset, with virtual 7.1 surround. Can be confusing tho. The Turtle Beach XP500 has a true Dolby 7.1 surround.

Ted, how's the sound quality of these?

    • Xenoic, the XP500 are simulated as well, any headphone which only has 2 drivers will be simulated. "True 7.1" headphones will have multiple drivers in each earpiece (check out Tritton AX Proto see what i am talking about).
These headphones are awesome (especially for this price) - i play FPS games alot (MW3/BF3) and really helps to get the edge on other players when playing multiplayer.
I actually get 8hrs of gameplay off one charge which is impressive.
They really under perform for some reason with music. The 7.1 doesn't work for movies - if you use it for movies you will only recieve 2channel audio.

      • So with these only having two drivers, how can they manage to produce any more surround effect than a stereo headset which also has two drivers?

      • Correct,

I have the tritton. Brought them from America

        Great true surround

  • How are they with other games that are not FPS?

  • I just bought a pair of Astro a30's. An absolute delight and you can use them for PS3, Xbox 360, PC, IPhone (yes, you can make calls with them). If you can fork out $260, you won't regret it.

They were actually cheaper from Ebay with shipping to Aus.

My mate has a pair of these PS3 headphones and loves them so I guess it depends on how much you want to pay and how many systems you want to use the headphones for.

    • I was looking at these and backed out the A30 / A40 as they are often listed as the best wireless headphones around - but seem to have additional components eg a 'mix amp' that need to be combined to use them. I really felt a little confused about what those parts were for - were they additional costs, did you need it to get the best out of the head phones etc. Figured if they couldn't be more clear on the website about the items then I wasn't going to be forking out that much money.

      • They aren't wireless. The mix amp is used so you can mix different sound inputs. You can play music through ur iPod while hearing the game you're playing. It's also used to amplify the sound and give virtual surround. Without the mixamp u are missing out on the full capabilities of the headset. You can also mix voice/ge sound using a dial on the mixamp. Checkout a YouTube video for more info.

        • Ps you don't need the mixamp but then they are just standard headphone set. Without the mixamp you will not be able to use voice in games.

  • How do two speakers/headphones make 7.1 surround sound?

    • It's called virtual surround

  • Just got one from dick smith.
Good performance in games. But not quite convincing for movies.
Generally I'm very happy with wireless headset at this price.

  • No dse near me have it. This the best price you can get it for?

    • Yes, it's the cheapest I've seen this headset for. Especially for local stock.
