  • Thanks for this post - please clarify one issue: with the mains is accompanying steamed rice included or will we be charged extra for that?

If not included, how much extra per person?

Um, what's BNE? I think you need to provide a definition/expansion or just say what it is.

    • +5

Your location says Melb. What's Melb?

      Pssssst BNE is Brisbane.

      • Thanks AntMan76.
Granted, I could of looked it up, but that wasn't the point (maybe I shouldn't of framed it as a query). I'd argue it's an abbreviation that won't be obvious to all OzBargainers, therefore take longer for them to work out whether they want to skip it or not.
Google says there are 55 hits for BNE deals (mostly flights - fair enough) & 476 for Brisbane. So at the very least it's inconsistent with most other Brisbane specific deals.
BTW, I see you point about Melb, but that's a strawman argument, I'm saying that a deal's title isn't as clear as I think it should, nothing about OzBargainers profile details not containing abbreviations (& who cares anyway).

        • +2

          What's BTW?

        • +4

MattyD, you should have written that as "by the way, what is BTW?"

    • -1

BNE: kinda misleading. It's not hard to type the full word, is it?!

      • +2

Yeah, I assumed BNE was the places name. Wouldn't Brisbane be Bris. like Melborne is Melb., not MBE?

        • +4

BNE is just the airport code for Brisbane - lots of deals here reference it as such.

      • +3

As this is a BNE only deal, only of relevance to people in or near BNE. If you come from a location, you tend to know its abbreviations, like Airport code.
Description specifies restaurant is in New Farm - only 1 is in Brissie to my knowledge.
MEL = Melbourne, SYD = Sydney, etc Saves space with a long title.
But so many times there is no description of location in other titles - and that has often been from MEL Ops.

      perhaps, brand new eatery?

    • +1

      BNE??
Do not ever try to catch a plane to Brisbane as you may spend a very long time in the terminal.
Some more very complicated city abbreviations to practice with… SYD,MEL,PTH,DAR,HOB,ADL….

    expiry???

  • What else could BNE: be?

  • +1

any one been the this one? any good?

  • -1

should say its for QLD only …

    • +1

Rather BNE only - no use for those 1500 kms up in FNQ!

      • Far North Queensland for those of you who hate acronyms :P

        • is there an acronym for acronym - its a bit long ;)

        • If you are from FNQ you don't waste time with all those words! Plus saying FNQ sounds as if you're swearing, said with a Northern drawl.

For anyone who lives in Brisbane, BNE is a semi-standard way of reporting it. Even council newsletters feature BNE in some form.

  • I don't get it, how is $19 a deal? In Melbourne you can get the same food for $15 normally… :S

    • -1

All the people complaining about this BNE deal seem to be from MEL! Typical!!

In Melbourne you can get the same food for $15 normally

Oh its so much cheaper in MEL. So why are MEL people even looking at this deal??
If you can eat out locally in a Thai restaurant for $7.50 per person for entree & main with prawns, roast duck, etc, just do it.

You might like to post which restaurant has $3.75 'authentic' Thai dishes as a normal price, to keep the other MEL posters well fed & happy.

      • Oops, only 1 entree & 2 mains.
OK but not great price- depends on quality.
So average price per dish for guohaolay's $15 normal price Thai meal for two in Melbourne is $5 rather than $3.75 - my mistake. Thats cheap Thai in MEL.
