    Google Pixel 6 $499 or $400

    We get to choose?

    • -1

yeah, the Pixel 6 and the $499 is the much better option…

      • Pixel 6 will cost $499

        • -4

          no way bro

        • +1

That’s the upfront cost and you have to add the Telstra 12 month plan too
Minimum cost would be $1327 over 12 months

      • It's not better. You are better off taking the $400 credit.

  • You mean Google Pixel 6 $499 + $400 JB GC..?

    • +3

Either you choose the Google Pixel 6 128GB for $499 or you take the bonus $400 JB gift card

I’m limited on the number of words on a deal title

      • +4

So the minimum cost if you choose the Pixel 6 is then $1,327?

        • Yup, I just fixed the header
          Cheers

  • +1

You get the pixel for 499 upfront or the 400$ gift card. Not both.

  • +3

The gc amount just getting smaller and smaller

    • +7

      Shrinkflation my man

      • +3

        I hope it's transitory

    • And also remember that you can't add any international calling packs if you go with one of these plans. That kills the deal if you make any international calls.

Also you have to be porting in from a non Telstra or boost or belong provider or get a new number.

  • +1

Has anyone currently with Telstra tried the old trick (adding new service to the current one and close the old service shortly after) with any previous deals so far? Does this still work?

    • Thats why the minimum cost is included now.

    • +3

Apparently they (telstra) won't let you do transfer numbers to the new plan anymore, the new service is tied to the new number. loophole has been closed now. JB recommend the best way to get this deal is to port out for 31 days and port back in.
Maybe someone has tried and been successful?

      • +1

So our demise has come it may seem.. do people still got away with porting out for less than a month before jumping back in for deals like this?

      • bugger, since when? I did it around Christmas without a problem.

        • I was warned of these changes early May this year when I tried to get a new plan, and again just last weekend at a different store…
I'm sure others have tried anyway…

          • +1

@crazian: warned by JB or Telstra?

            • @RangaWal: both times was JB staff

              • @crazian: hmm… perhaps they have a vested interest ;) Probably best to ask Telstra - the company who actually allow and make the change. Each time I've done this (3 or 4 times now), I always confirm with Telstra before walking into JB Hifi. :)

                • @RangaWal: When was the last time you did it?

                  • +1

@udika: I did it Christmas too and it worked. I also just chat with a Telstra rep saying it is still possible to add service to plan and move number across…

                  • +1

                    @udika: around Christmas time

      • Hopefully someone can give it a crack tomorrow and report back…

    • You might be able to just start a new account in your name. Worked fine for me last time when the JB staff suggested it

      • Yeah the thing is most people want to keep their numbers.

  • May someone explain how the port-in credit works? Do I sign up to the sim only contract and then go to Telstra live chat and asks for a new customer port in monthly credit?

    • Unless you have it in writing I doubt Telstra will honour that…

      • Yes that's what I did. Said my friend got a port in discount of $20/month and I got the same

        • $20/month for just 1 month or more?

        • I tried. They told me to jump

          • @bemybubble: From what I've heard lots of people have to try a few times. I was very lucky and the lady applied it first go. I was expecting more pushback

          • +1

            @bemybubble: did you?

        • I did the same, just kept on repeating same thing on live chat until it was granted

          • @iykyk: How long ago? Or are you talking about this deal?
Telstra agent and his supervisor tried for me but said system did not allow it. Can only add credit for one month at a time now for Jb hifi/goodguys plans.

      • I got $10 a month on second try back in February 2022

    • +2

Go on chat and ask for a port in credit. Tell them a friend for $20 off. Most probably they will give you $10 off. You can try your luck with a few. I got $10 off after a few tries

  • +2

Legend thanks OP! Been waiting for a reasonable 12-month plan

  • port in credit?

  • -1

Better deal last year November with 500 gift card.

Pixel phone keep the value well (at least on paper), so purchas it early if you like pixel phone.

On other hand, you may just get Samsung s22 at cheaper price ( Samsung have promotion like everymonths)

  • Will be interesting to see if they repeat the Telstra $59pm with $500 GC deal

    • Unfortunately it looks like that ship may have sailed. Inflation and what not, Telco costs are rising.

  • For a minute I was regretting my Pixel 6 purchase a few weeks ago for $600, but I don't want a $70 phone plan

    • How did you get a pixel 6 for $600?!? That's a good deal… I was going to wait for a 6a

      • +1

Got lucky with an eBay auction

  • Would it be better to get the GC and using that for a Pixel 6 Pro, since JB Hi-Fi has it for $1049 at the moment?
    Pixel 6 = $1327 total
    Pixel 6pro = $1477 total

    • and use discounted JB gift cards to pay for the remainder, i was looking at the 6 pro also myself

  • -4

Would upvote if is $400GC and $499 pixel together given.

  • Anyone know if this sim can be used as an e-sim?

    • You can activate esim in the Telstra app

    • Yes to esim

  • Is the portin credit one off or monthly?

  • +1

Did anyone actually get $20 credit from telstra?

    • I get $10 usually but $20 would be great

    • +1

It is a hit and miss thing. I tried like 10 times via Telstra live chat and all of them were initially happy to do it for me but eventually told me it was signed up at JBHIFI and I had to go to JBHIFI to get the $10 monthly credit. Not surprised that JBHIFI said the same thing I had to get Telstra to do it.

    • Just tell them JB HIFI says it was $20 and that's why you signed up to the plan

      • Wow! Ok will take note of it.

    • Yes I have

      • You are 1 in a million then

  • +1

    I guess 500 bonus is just a dream now…

  • +1

$850 off the S22 Ultra 5G 128GB with a 12 months $69 plan looks like the best deal of this week phone deals.

    • Where is that deal?

    • Where can I get this deal?

      • I don’t think that deal exists. Seeing how the OzBargain account was just created to post that comment and has been offline since

Edit: Unless he was referring to this deal previously but that was on a 24 months plan

$399 upfront on (min cost $2295):

        Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G 256GB

        • is on the JB mail sent out this evening, its $999 upfront on the same deal as the pixel. (currently its $1599 at JB so no $850 discount)

          • @quikstix: I didn’t receive that email from JB yesterday. Go post it as a separate deal :)

            • @BargainsGrabber: I was referring to where you said "I don't think that deal exists" It's not $850 off but there is a deal on the s22 ultra on the same plan. It's not so amazing but yea will post it

              • +1

@quikstix: Ohh what I meant initially by “I don’t think that deal exists” was because I didn’t get any newsletter from JB regarding the $999 upfront on Samsung S22 Ultra plan

I was clueless but you confirmed the deal exists :)

        • Thanks for the vote of confidence mate. Sorry if I don't spend my life on OB.

    • +1

There is no $850 off, its currently $1599 cash on JB site right now.. So $999 upfront is $599 discount is better than the giftcard however

      • +1

        Return it

        • Huh?

          • @quikstix: It’s an OzBargain way of saying: Get the phone from the plan and return it back to JB for the price listed on the invoice (I.e. at $1599)

      • S22 Ultra 5G was listed at $1850, with currently $250 off…
We can debate a discount on a discount but it's effectively $850 off the list price at $999.

        • Could debate it but you would still be wrong 😂

Direct from Samsung is $1599 currently also so…

  • I think it is a good deal.
Plus trade in bonus on note3.
    1999-500-400 bonus
You can take home a note 3 for 1099!!!
I am going to sign up

  • Is woolworths mobile considered as an eligible port-in given that its already on Telstra network?

    • Yes it is. I did it for my JB plan last year

      • previously woolworths wasnt allowed? good to know though!

        • It’s only the ones already in Siebel that don’t count. As they have to do a pre to post order, not a port in. Woolworths is not in siebel.

        • I've always used woolworths as my go between. I think I'm coming up to my 5th 12 month now

  • Do they do a credit check for this?

    • yes

    • Of course, it's a post-paid mobile plan

  • I always Check the phone sell value, only $660 (with it costing $499) on webuyback so the gift card is definitely the better choice over trying to sell the phone quickly for better profit.
In saying that, I signed up for the iPhone 12mini last year on the $99/12months, sold the phone to webuyback and having just finished the plan have only just paid $247 for the full 12month plan.

  • As a current Telstra customer, would it be as simple as porting out to a pre paid, then going back to JB and porting back into Telstra on the post paid?
Or is there a time period you need to be a non Telstra customer?

    • +1

      No, not that easy anymore.
30 days out is the check. And they check because if it's not 30+ days, they don't get the kickback from telstra, and so the gift card is given away for free.

I ported out to woolworths mobile, but only 6 days ago so I'll miss this deal, but land the be T one.
