[NSW] Click 6 Outlet Surge Protected Powerboard (+2 USB) Twin Pack, $10 (Was $35) in-Store @ Bunnings Warehouse, Gladesville

820

A bargain pair of powerboards - black only. Marked down from $35 to $10 at Gladesville Bunnings in one of their discount trolleys. There were plenty of them there. Not sure if other locations have the same. I couldn't find a direct link for this item but a single white version of the same board is listed online for $21.50 (https://www.bunnings.com.au/click-6-outlet-powerboard-with-s…) so $10 is super cheap for a twin pack.
(I tried to upload a picture of the black twin pack but the site is picking up the link to the single white one. Pics on Imgur: https://imgur.com/a/GMUmrUo , https://imgur.com/a/9yX8FeW)

The Bunnings site is showing that price for a single, but I’m heading out to a nearby one shortly to see what they have.

Hey OP - can you post a image of the packaging to imgur ?

  • The black is exactly what I want.
    And twin pack too.

    • I saw one in the packet that was brownish…. It was poorly wiped down.

  • If I use it with 110v oversea and plug it in an adaptor will the charging ports work?

    • +4

I would not use the ports even in Australia.

    • No

  • Where in bunnings?

    • +2

They're upstairs close to the kids play area

    • +1

It was upstairs on the side in a vertical trolley between the lighting and BBQ sections at the Gladesville store

  • Only 1 left now!

    • darn it, was about to go now & grab some :( too late now

  • Didn’t that AMA Bunnings guy say Click were junk? Then a Test & Tag guy in that same thread say Click products fail all the time?

    • It's a budget brand, don't expect top quality, I would just use this as a power board with surge protection, and wouldn't touch it's USB port.

      • I still wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole. Not after those two separate comments I read only yesterday.

The problem is using it as a powerboard with surge protection, or any Click branded outlets with protection. We do heaps of RCD testing as well as test and tag. One council that we do RCD testing for purchased a whole wheelie bin full of Click outlets with RCD protection, for their MCH nurses doing home calls and cleaners that clean elderly and disabled people's homes. (they store them in the wheelie bin for ease of transport). These things were brand new, still in packaging. We would have failed at least 30% of them. Some didn't trip, but most just didn't trip in time.
EDIT: minimum 30% failed. I would actually say closer to 50%, but didn't want to sound like I was exaggerating.

        • To be fare tagging test puts through a high voltage to simulate a surge, if the click product then fails it means the surge protection worked and was set at a lower voltage.

Other brands probably noticed this practice and set the surge voltage protection to a higher level.

I don’t remember what the voltage the tag machines work at but it’s about double the normal 240v.

          • @tonsta: Not how it works. It test insulation at 500v, but RCD testing is done by simulating earth leakage.

            • @Cubic25: I should have mentioned only the Insulation part, I can’t comment on the rcd. I’ve never actually seen a rcd feature on a powerboard.

              • @tonsta: The orange power boxes have RCD's, as well as some extension leads.
As for RCD's in switchboards, Chint and Merlin have a pretty high fail rate.
Clipsal ain't what they used to be, but not as bad as the other two mentioned.
Everything else is much of a muchness.
Essentially, you get what you pay for.

      That was me!
      Yes. Click is garbage.
It's not just their powerboards though. I've seen a Click heater blowing embers.

      • Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

What brands of powerboard are ok from your experience? HPM, jackson, clipsal, arlec?

I have a few arlecs and they seem terrible but I have no idea if any other brands would be better…

        • +1

HPM and Clipsal are generally pretty good budget options. Arlec is usually beneath them, but still better than Click.

  • Can you price match interstate?

  • OOS

  • Guys could someone PLEASE (Pretty please with sugar on top) post a scan or photo of a receipt @ $10 per twin pack

My local store has put aside 2 for me, but will only honour that price if I show them proof that is a real price

    • They're the vendor…don't they set their prices?

      • Clearance item pricing is at the discretion of every store manager. My local store wants $35 still (which was the original asking price) but have agreed to do $10 if I can show them proof of another Bunnings doing them for $10.

My local store is actually doing me a favour because technically they don't need to price match other Bunnings stores or clearance prices.
