An absolute crap… The wires don't stay firmly in the sockets. A slight jerk will loosen the contact. Better to buy the Arlec ones from Bunnings

I own this and have this exact problem. Also the screw mounts sit really loose so it doesn't stay mounted well.

So in summary it falls of the wall, and then all the cables fall out.

      • Are we entitled to ask a refund from the manufacturer?

        • I can't be (profanity). I taped all my cables down and taped it to my desk. Looks ghetto as…

@diggityfish: If there’s ever a fire and your insurance company sees this during the investigation they’re probably going to use that as evidence that you knew you had faulty electrical device and potentially use that as an excuse to reject your claim.

            Just something to consider.

    • Yep this has been reported countless times. No idea why these keep getting posted. I'd avoid.

      • +2

Ive got them, no probems my end.

    • +6

      I have 3 of these.

Either you have a defective one or you're not pushing the plug all the way down. They do disconnect easily if it's not pushed all the way down.

I can lift my board with 5 connected plugs by pulling the plugs up. They don't disconnect as easily as you say.

I got one of this for 2 years got no problem so far on everyday use.

        • +1

Mine have been fine, too. Sometimes I have to give them a firm press to ensure they're locked in but then they've been tightly secured

  • +1

Same negative experience as others. No one should be buy these they are terrible and not safe.

  • +1

As per above comments, this powerboard is terrible. Spend a bit more and invest in the Belkin one instead (TGGC price of $39 is still valid at the time of this comment).

    • Tbh with you I prefer this one over that Belkin, the Belkin that I got died within 7 months.

      • Belkin warranty claim is very easy.

        • I returned it via Amazon chat.

    • 900 joules is useless to me. I need to find another one with at least 1400.

Many thanks for all the above comments and glad I checked. I’m looking to buy few and was going to place an order because it is sold on Amazon.

  • +1

These are terrible. As comments have stated already, the plugs don't stay in their sockets

  • +2

Must have been a bad batch of these? I have one and its great, but clearly some duds as lots with a similar experience.

    • +1

If it was a bad batch the complaints wouldn't have persisted for years.

Prehaps it's ongoing bad quality control. Either way, electricity isn't something I'd roll the dice on ordering.

  • +3

Good price! Have had one for 4+ years and no dramas. I also know if someone who was able to successfully claim the connected equipment guarantee after a thunderstorm (till that point I'd taken it to be a marketing gimmick)

  • +2

i have two of these and they've been awesome. i'm very surprised by the negs…now very weary of getting a third just in case.

  • +3

I have at least 4 of these and haven't had any problems. Am I just lucky?

  • +3

Yep I have 2 and not had a problem. Maybe they've cut corners since? I bought mine in December 2020.

    • +1

      There's been reports before then

Anyone else have issues with these powerboards sparking or making those sounds occasionally when something is loose? And sometimes it doesn't fit into the plugs perfectly?

      08/09/2019 - 21:36

wow this thing is terrible quality, my computer plug buzzes when plugged in, compared to a different cheaper white one i have the plugs arent "firm" pretty dodgy.

      03/10/2019 - 07:47

power points are a bit loose so some of the larger power adaptors don't sit in firmly.

I have 2 of these, no problems

  • I also have 2 of these, no problems either, one for HIFI and one for kitchen appliances

  • Loose sockets, flimsy feel.

  • No offence to OP but I have one with the bad connectors. They don’t seem to be holding the plug in a reliable way, even after using excessive force to push it in.

Bought 3 months ago from officeworks with price beating $25 centrcom units. No issues so far. One thing I'd say is this is not suitable if you use wide adapters. Spacing is narrow. Haven't experienced any loose plugs.

  • +1

Centre Com ebay store has them for a few dollars more at $28 but thats with "Free delivery in 2-4 days"
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/116395402335

  • I have 2 and they're fine and amazon respect refunds if the item doesn't suit you.

  • Very loose sockets on these. Don't bother.
