    pro-tools-expert.com sounds dodgy

Do you need to have bought specific software/ hardware to use these. Not so clear to the unitiated.

    • As mentioned you would use it in a DAW.

These would probably only be handy if you were doing audio for music, film, podcasts etc.

    • You need to get the Plugin Alliance branded installer (plus the plugins themselves have a Plugin Alliance branding and activation requirement, which was annoying, and I didn't see any way around that), but otherwise it's all pretty standard stuff.

      • There are almost always ways around the online activation if you acquire it

Cockos Reaper is popular and very affordable.

yeah these are crazy good plugins. /r/audioproductiondeals is good for this sort of thing for those who are in the pro audio world

So can I make sick beats with these?

I'm a musician/producer deep in this space. This is an amazing deal actually! However, the RRP is inflated. Each of these plugins regularly (i.e almost every month) go on sale for 29.99 USD (occasionally a bit cheaper than this). So it's worth about $180 USD. If you record music, don't sleep on this. However, if you've never recorded and never have any intention to, you likely won't have any use for this.

I completely agree on the how the RRP is misguiding somewhat but when not on sale this is technically the correct price.

Don’t get me started on WAVES

      • haha. Pluginalliance has become almost on par with waves with the never-ending sales. Good deal nonetheless, thanks for posting it!

Any advice for someone wanting to start out? Looking for something cheap / free to dabble with making electronic music.

      • Are you on Mac or pc?

Mac you have garage band which is free and then logic is a bit more in depth but costs a few hundred.

PC I’m not entirely sure about but I you google free DAWs for PC or free electronic music software pc then you should find something. Cakewalk rings a bell

Or if you can crack a copy of ableton. Giddyup

        • It's what everyone says tho

Saying that, if you do and find yourself spending time actually enjoying what you do you should support the companies.

get the cheapest or even second hand mini midi keyboard like an Arturia minilab or Akai MPK. Last year's models will be fine. Look up ASIO4All drivers and try Ableton Lite with a 90 day free trial. If you have mac, just use garageband. it's free

        • Been on my to do list for at least a few years now. 2022 maybe…. Ta.

        • +1

          Couldn't send you a PM.

What Midi controllers do you recommend? I don't want a mini.

I'm from SA too, I was going to start a music production thread on here. I haven't done music in a long time, most my studio gear is old but keen to spend a bit in a set up soon. Just out of touch!

          • @[Deactivated]: Personally, I use an Ableton Push 2, and have done for the last 4 years. But it's over $800 and only makes sense if you use Ableton as your DAW.

If I was getting started, I'd save my money and get a keyboard midi controller. If you want to buy new and don't want a mini, then I think the Arturia keylab essential series (mk1) is good value.

            • @prsam1: Thanks mate 😃

I use to use Cubase, but I'll be starting over.

I have an M-Audio Controller brand new in the box from 9 years ago!

Im happy to dump some money into a set up, probably even build a new PC just for it.

              Thanks

If you need a daw on windows use Reaper, basically like winrar in that you can just use it for free forever by just dismissing a message on startup.

Theres a 90 day trial for Ableton Live https://www.ableton.com/en/trial/

    • Black Box Analog Design HG-2 is worth every cent on the master bus.

Delay Lama sounds like a swear word in Cantonese.

      • And in CCP.

          DLLM

  • Can I download and install down the track?

    • Yes

      • Thank you!

  • FYI

Each of these licenses provides 3 activations. You cannot redeem the voucher again for more activations.
You can add them via the webpage. Create an account. Click account. Under "Licenses and Plugins" click "Redeem voucher"

Doubt I'll ever use these but hey..

  • Is there a way to download the plugins from Linux without having to use the installer?

  • Sorry I am a noob here in audio related stuff (I use Adobe Audition) what are these plugins for?

    • They’re used for processing/manipulating audio. If you read about them then come back with a more specific question go for it.

      • What software does this work on I meant to say sorry. Are these cross platform

        • Someone asked this above. You just need a compatible DAW, so I’ve not used adobe with these but it should be fine. Just look up how to add external plugins to your software.

Worst case just get the code and if it doesn’t work no problem.

  • I took advantage of this offer and am now receiving daily emails from Plugin Alliance. I have clicked Unsubscribe and a page says I have been unsubscribed but I continue to receive emails.

    • Seems to have stopped now, thankfully.
