Google Pixel 6 $699 / 6 Pro $999 + Del - Tradein Value (min $10) after $300 Bonus Trade in Coupon @ JB Hi-Fi

710

Very similar to this deal but with extra $100 trade in coupon. I am stealing the title from that deal :D

JB Hi-Fi Trade-in by Square Trade operating hours: Monday - Sunday 7:00am - 11:30pm ADST

All Google Pixel phones on JB Hi-Fi

The banner on the product page of each phone looks like this

From JB coupon graphic/banner on Pixel 6 product pages:
"Get it for less with a JB Trade-in plus an extra $300 JB coupon! Upgrade faster with immediate credit. Trade in your old phone before 17 April and get trade-in credit PLUS a $300 JB coupon to redeem on a new Google Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro."

Works out better than Telstra Day deal if you have an eligible phone to trade in.

The original prices for the 128GB phones at JB start at $999 for the Pixel 6 and $1299 for the Pixel 6 Pro not including shipping.

Edit 08-04: JB has dropped the price of Pixel 6 Pro by $200. Changed the title to make it clearer. Thanks EatingMug20

Edit 12-04: Pixel 6 Pro discounted price has expired and it is back to $1298 before the bonus trade in voucher.

    OPEN HOURS
    We are open between
    Monday - Sunday
    7:00am - 11:30pm ADST

  • +15

It's 2022 and JB will only let us look at trade in values at certain "open" times of the day. It's a website not a storefront.

    • +2

It's pathetic. That's why I had to include the Trade in website "operating hours" in the description

      • Legitimately thought that was customer service rep active hours before I clicked…

    • Unless they prefer to have it manned just in case…

    • And this is why Australian retail can go to hell. JB should be much better than this, and if anything set examples to others.

  • Any idea on the trade in coupon T&C? As in, can we give or sell it to someone else? Or locked in to our name, also is it in the format of egiftcard or physical card?

    Thanks

    • +2

Perhaps information from this JB Website is more useful?

    • +2

It's a jb hifi voucher code. Couldn't see a reason why not

    • +1

It's just a barcode with the value loaded on it. No reason you can't give it to someone else.

  • Quite keen for this. One problem I see is that P6 doesnt have unlimited storage quality photo uploads compared to previous Pixels. Does anyone have a work around for this?

    • -6

Don't get the pixel. I bought the pixel 5 XL and had nothing but issues from day one. People say they can't hear me and the phone randomly hangs up.

The old nexus phones were great.

      • +11

        pixel 5 XL

Non-existent phone will definitely give you issues :D

Jokes aside, I did not have any issues with my Pixel 2 and 3XL.

      • +1

        I miss my Motorola Nexus..

      • +1

I have the pixel 6 pro and haven't had a single issue

        • Battery has been pretty shit for me. I'm hoping that's an issue as it implies there's a fix.

        • I had the P6P, sooooo many issues, gave up and have the S22u

  • +1

Trade in is pretty limited. Tried a pristine Oppo RenoZ and "no trade"

    • That's weird, I did it yesterday and they were going to give me $80 for my Reno 10x Zoom which is older I think?

      • Reno 10x Zoom is worth much more than $80 in the Marketplace.

        • I was looking at doing it in conjunction with the $400 bonus trade-in credit on the Find X5, so $480 'credit' for a phone I paid $499 for about 20 months ago is not bad.

What do you reckon it would be worth on the marketplace?

          • @djkelly69: Not sure but I tried to put mine on the market for 500 a couple months. It didn't get sold. Where can you get the 480 credit from? Oppo?

            • @HandsomeMonkey:

Where can you get the 480 credit from?

From JB, on the Find X5 range. Check out this page. Basically if you trade-in a good condition 10x Zoom you would get $80 credit for the phone, plus $400 bonus trade in credit which can be used towards an X5.

              • @djkelly69: Ahh damn the phone is 1799. I think I'll just keep the 10x Zoom for now. Phone working perfectly fine.

                • @HandsomeMonkey: It applies to the Lite ($799) and standard X5 ($1399) as well. Lite looks like a side-grade IMO, but for $319 after credit with bonus "$299 earbuds" might be ok for the newer phone and updates.

Normal X5 for $919 after credit and you get the bonus case, earbuds and watch apparently worth $557 seems pretty good.

I don’t have a device with value to trade in, any way to get the $300 trade in coupon?

    • +10

Yes. Trade in an eligible device.

  • Does the other trade in bonus still exist with JB hi Fi

  • +6

    Samsung Galaxy S9 plus

    YOUR DEVICE TRADE-IN VALUE

Unfortunately, this device has no reuse value.
Please consider recycling with one of our partner programs.

  • Can I trade in multipe devices, and get the Pixel 6 for free???
Unfortunately, Pixel 5 is only worth $250 now.

    • -1

      No.

    • The website does let you trade in multiple devices, so don't see why can't at least get close to $0.

  • +1

Finally time to upgrade my Pixel 2 XL!

    Trade in value: $0.

Does this mean I can't get the $300 trade in bonus either?

    • Let us know, I have a 2xl as well.

    • +1

I just emailed them, the square trade. You need at least $10 trade in value to be eligible for the $300 coupon, which i bums me out as my current phone is worth $0 to them.

  • -4

60 dollars for a pristine Ipad Mini 2, 0$ for an Iphone 6. What a joke.

    • +5

Why is that a joke? What makes you think a 7 year old phone will have any trade in value?

      • +1

Because Apple lol. It probably wasn't even a reasonable price until it was 3 years old

      • -3

Are you telling me that the value of a perfectly working tablet with premium build quality surpassing even today's flagships is 60 bucks? Would you rather have 60 bucks over a fully featured tablet?

Even a bricked iPhone is worth something if only for the lithium battery and the aluminium case… the fact that they don't even take it for free means it's just a gimmick to make you feel like you are getting a huge discount when in reality you are financing at least half the voucher with a device they are paying you peanuts for.

        • +1

They don't take it because there is no demand out there for phones that old. You seem to be delusional about the value of your tech devices that are way beyond outdated.

          • -5

            @keejoonc: Value is subjective, buddy.

Age is not more relevant than functionality. Some devices become unusable with age, but not all. I can still perfectly use my Ipad for skyping, as a secondary screen for my PC, as a remote access for my desktop, as convenient way of watching youtube in bed, as a toy for my cat to play with virtual mice, as a great platform to play digital versions of boardgames, as a remote control for my washing machine, as an emergency platform when some of my other devices break down, as a way of testing my code in Apple environments when I'm mostly an Android user… Hell, I have even used it to enable a multidesktop setup with my PC essentially managing to create a 3 virtual computer network allowing me to set up a 3 way lan party out of a single desktop to play with my family at home.

And you say it's outdated? Outdated how?

Is it really that hard to believe that I value having an extra platform able to do all that and more over having 60 extra bucks in my pocket which are going to vanish in a couple days and not even cover my weekly Woolies shopping?

And you are missing the point, which is not that they pay little for the trade in… but that they don't even accept the trade in paying nothing, which proves that the sale is inflated and that the voucher is being financed at least in part with the value they extract from underpaying your trade-in devices, making you feel like you are getting 300+ dollars when in reality you are getting a sizeable chunk less.

            • +2

@HigoChumbo: Not sure whether you understand the point… The fact that you think your device is worth a certain value, doesn't mean the others would like to pay for it. I have an iPad second gen that's functioning well today, I think it holds a value of at least $200, should I expect anyone to pay $200 and take it?

JB Hifi (or their supplier) takes the trade-in phone, refurbish, and sell the phone for a profit. There is likely no demand out there for an iPad mini 2 hence there is no reason to buy your iPad

And again you miss the point, JB Hifi obviously has to make money from you, they are not a charity. The $300+ might the profit they cut out from Pixel 6 sales when of course the actual underlying value of phone is a sizeable chunk less

              • -1

@b0b0: Everyone seens to be happy with these kind of misleading practices. On par with "pay us 199$/month for your data plan with a 2 year contract and get a phone for free!".

                So be it.

                • +1

@HigoChumbo: I think we are talking about different things here. I guess you will understand the point when the time comes :)

            • @HigoChumbo: Value is NOT subjective buddy and that's where you are going wrong. Value is based on demand and supply. No one wants 7 year old phone except you, which is why JB won't pay you anything and that's the point YOU are missing.
Who bloody cares what you do with your iPad? There are better, newer tech that people want, not your used old iPad.
I don't even understand why you are telling me what you do with your devices since that's irrelevant in the context of discussing how little value, if any, your 7 year old phone has.
Self entitlement is ripe with this one LOL

  • +2

Title is a bit misleading, thought the Pro starts at $1000, was hyped for a new phone for $300
    But…yeah, nah.

    • +1

The title is honestly incomprehensible to someone who hasn't done this sort of deal before. As is the description.

  • 500 trade in for a s21 plus

    • Was actually 600.got the pro for 399

      • +1

What pushed you for the change?

Was tossing between S21 and Pixel 6 last year, and returned my Pixel 6 after trying it for a week.
Not sure if paying $350 from S21 to 6 Pro worth the money…..

  • Does this have the same scheme as Samsung where if you don't send the phone, you still get the discount and just pay the admin fee?

    • "If our Returns Centre doesn’t receive your device(s) within 14 business days, we will either cancel your Trade-in Credit from JB Hi-Fi or charge your credit card the equal amount if the trade-in credit has already been redeemed."

From the FAQ, doesn't seem like you can keep the device.

      • ?? How did you come to that conclusion after quoting that section from the FAQ?
It clearly says, they will charge you for the value of the trade-in if you don't send it in. In other words, you don't have to send it in, but that means you have to pay back the value of the trade in device.

        • Seems like I misinterpreted what trade-in credit is when I wrote my comment. Have you had experience yourself doing this?

          • @BrokeCamel: Just verified this via email.

            My email:
I have a Pixel 4 XL to trade in for $130 trade in value with the bonus $300 coupon. What will happen if I do not send my old phone in? Do I get charged $130 or $430 on my credit card after the 14 days is over?

            Their response:
Your credit card will be charged for the equal value of the eGift card we issued to you.
The coupon code will not be affected.

            • @chewkl: They pay trade-in credit as an eGift card?

That wording still doesn't seem clear to me

          • @BrokeCamel: I have, when Pixel 6 Pro launched.

    • +1

There is no admin fee with JB and you keep the discount. They will only charge you for the value of the trade in device that you didn't send in.

      • Are you 100% sure on this? I'm tempted to keep my old phone as a backup if this is the case…

  • +1

Tried to trade in my old S7, too bad it has no value now :D

    "YOUR DEVICE TRADE-IN VALUE $0
Unfortunately, this device has no reuse value.
Please consider recycling with one of our partner programs."

  • +1

All I have are "TRADE-IN VALUE $0", why they still list them.

    • +2

Because people would then flood the call centre asking about their phone which is not listed.

      • Not if the only listed eligible phones and stated that

  • +7

I find OP's title confusing, is the standard price of the pixel 6 $999 or $699? I am assuming that the $699 price is after the $300 discount. If that's the case, then the title is misleading. Nonetheless, I appreciate the post - I am seriously considering the upgrade.

    Edit: Perhaps, Buy a Google Pixel 6 $699 or Google Pixel 6 Pro $999 + Delivery with $300 Trade-In Coupon @ JB Hi-Fi

I purposely left out the savings from trade-in value because it varies from person to person, and some are reporting $0 trade-in value.

  • +2

S21 FE $450 trade in, considering it. It's the jankiest phone I've ever owned, and I miss how good the pixel camera is.

  • +1

$120 trade in for a Pixel 4A. Considering it as the 4A battery lasts half a day after almost 2 years of ownership.

  • +2

Hmm, Pixel 3XL with tiny crack on back=$0 value
If i lie and select "no defects" = $70 value and i am then eligible for $300 credit towards new Pixel 6.
Buy new Pixel 6 with $300 credit + $70 trade in credit, that works out to $626 for P6.
If i dont send old device to Squaretrade within 14 days, JB will charge me the $70, but i still manged to purchase the new phone with the $300 credit. So new P6 costs me $699?

Is that how it would work??

    • Hope so… And not the full $370 amount

    • Need answer to this as well. Hoping to trade in item with $10 value but not following through with it.

    • In the FAQ under How do I get my Bonus Coupon during the promotional period? it states:

Trade-in orders that are cancelled, may also mean coupon cancellation.

      But:

If our Returns Centre doesn’t receive your device(s) within 14 business days, we will either cancel your Trade-in Credit from JB Hi-Fi or charge your credit card the equal amount if the trade-in credit has already been redeemed.

seems to refer to trade-in credit and not bonus coupons. And if the coupon has already been redeemed…

      • +3

        Just verified this via email.

        • Thank you for sharing this is great! :)

        • Sorry I didn't get it. This means they'll charge you $300 or the $130?

  • Does Pixel 6 still have lots of software issues and such?

    • not really
      getting constant updates

fingerprint ready takes a sec otherwise its the best of google

  • my nokia 3310 was zero with laughing emjo attached

  • Does anyone know if I can trade in 2 phones (eg. 2 pixel 5) and use 2 sets of trade in credits ($250) + $300 bonus on the one phone. This would give me $1100 in credit

    • From the FAQ:
You will only be able to place one trade-in order at any given time, however, each order can contain multiple devices up to a total value of $1,500.

Once your order has been completed, you will be able to start a new trade-in order.

Please note, partly completed orders left in your shopping cart will be automatically deleted after 48 hours.

      • "Once your order has been completed, you will be able to start a new trade-in order.' implies I can do it twice correct?

  • My pixel 4xl is $130 no damage. Meaning I get $430 for it?? That's pretty good for the 4xl. Wouldn't get that selling it online.
But do I want the pixel 6 hmm. To be honest I'm really bored of my google. Love the camera, but I'm just a bit bored with the software. I wanted to try something different this time round. Also I'm kind of sick of big phones. I really wish they'd made the 6a smaller.

  • i don't get what it mean ?
    lets say i got a samsung s20 fe 5g
Trade it in for $300 +$300 Trade-In Coupon,
then i could pay $99 for Google Pixel 6 ?

    • P6=$999-Trade-in value of device(assume $50 for you old device)-bonus $300 if you trade-in=$649 that you need to pay to get P6.
      If I am understanding correctly.

    • Op already applied the bonus 300 in title so would be $399 cost to you

  • Combined with the new 10% off gift cards offer, this is even more tempting. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/693200

  • Got $500 for a scratched up iphone. $500 for a Pixel 6 Pro was a very nice deal.

  • Pixel 3 is worth $50

  • +1

This offer is basically the same as selling your old phone online for:
    Oldphone value + $300 = $XYZ

Basically as if you sold it online for $XYZ and used that money to buy the pixel.
Example : galaxy s10+ 128 has trade in of $200
    So I sold my S10+ for $200 + $300 = $500

No chance I'd get $500 for selling my s10+ so it's a really good deal.

    • question? could you use the $500 JBgift card(trade in value +bonus) to purchase any other mobile rather than pixel6/6Pro from JBHIFI? Does anyone know? Thanks

      • Nah, this deal is specific to the pixel phones. I also traded in my S10+ and in return got the $300 bonus off pixel + a $200 gift card (you can use the GC on whatever).

  • So my pixel 5 is worth $250, therefore does that mean it if i get a pixel 6 it is 999 - 250 - 300 = $449 right? sounds like a good deal but is it worth getting a pixel 6 pro instead of 6

Cant believe my old S8+ is worth $0.

    • Yes correct.

  • FYI!
Bought this yesterday but now it looks like the Pixel 6 Pro 256GB is $1249, $50 cheaper than the 128GB.
I swear it wasn't like this yesterday. Oh well, I don't need the space but $50 cheaper is a good deal!

    • +3

Yep, it looks as though the P6 Pro is $200 cheaper today

    • Someone on Whirlpool bought a P6P yesterday, called JB and they're refunding the $200 difference.

I think I read somewhere, it's in JB's policy that if it goes on sale within a period, they honour the difference.

      • I bought the 128GB model which hasn't changed price. And since I've opened it I can't return or swap it. Oh well.

      • Hey I just saw they price dropped the 128GB model too, so I'm going in for a $200 refund, Cheers!!
