It's not the same as the old resistive touch screens and it doesn't get dented really.

        • +21

          Why u damaging items bro

          • +1

@peternow: Barely poked it, but good thing they have it there so one can see how fragile they are.

      • +5

No, the screens are still soft…

  • +7

Damn cheap. Just slightly too heavy, and the extra depth hurts……otherwise, best price I have seen.

    • +22

      Tell the apple fanbois

      • +8

        No apple fanbois on ozbargain.
No one here is rich enough

        • +31

Yeah, they're all on Whirlpool with their minimum 200k a year salary.

          • +25

@Dreamcast: If you aren't living on OzB, you are on Reddit under r/AusFinance with 50% of income going into EFTs, mainly vanguard. Would be earning $250k a year with a $370k mortgage on $1.2m principle place of residence. Also, turning 40 next year, might have a child but very worried about my $370k mortgage as my wife isn't working.

            • +3

@SoTightEcoLPI: You're also looking for a new prime property to ensure that your child is able to go to Melbourne Grammar as any other school isn't good enough

            • -1

@SoTightEcoLPI: Sounds like projection to me. Lol

          • @Dreamcast: I love how it's slowly progressed to a rivalry

      • +11

To be fair, they wouldnt know what a foldable phone is ;)

Probably another 18-24 months before Apple could start with the foldables

        • +58

But don't worry, when Apple does it, it's innovation

          • @justtoreply: Unfortunately when apple do this it'll be done with full control of the software and hardware… It'll mesh better and have less compromises, something android phone makers will find difficult to do… It'll cost 3k+ but no one bats an eye lid to expensive devices any more… I prefer android because you can get bang for buck devices still… Apple products I have are for work or been given to me for free… Still Apple get a lot right when they release something and now they know they can charge whatever the heck they want and people will pay.

            • @scud70: true but it's like a few years after android devices.

        • +9

yea when Apple release one it will be "revolutionary world first ifold device"

          • @Creamsoda: it will be a 'phenomenal' device 😀!

            • +3

@bhakharvadi: 2022: iPhone 13 Pro Max "Oh. So. Pro"
2025: iPhone 15 Pro Max Foldable Deluxe: "Oh. it. Folds"

              • @OMGJL: And like most recent iPhones, the screen will be made by Samsung.

            • @bhakharvadi: Don’t you mean ‘phoneomenal’

        • +10

Didn't apple phones have a bendgate issue? They're foldable but just once.

          • @Caped Baldy: That's iPhone 5, you can actually bent it back by gently applying force the other way.

            You are DEFINITELY UNDERESTIMATE IT.

I think it bend about 5 times? You just can't do it too often before it fall apart.

      • -2

Tell that to my 6 year old iphone 8 plus which still runs like the day I got it and still runs every 2022 app or game no problem! (original battery too)

Any android phone would have died long ago with 0 support and phased out!

Apple is expensive but works out cheaper in the long run!

        • Your kiddo is getting into the apple ecosystem early… will likely have a bright future as an UX designer or cost you a fortune getting you to buy all the other apple gear. Doesn't necessarily work out in the long run :)

        • Really works ok? How's the battery life seriously

          6 year old battery?

          • +1

            @Korban Dallas:

Really works ok? How's the battery life seriously

I pushed Apple to replace battery or whole phone because battery 2 times for my iPhone 7. Now rocking 12 mini because Telstra day deal - 128GB $770

          • @Korban Dallas: yes i’m referring to the age of the phone!

it was at 75 ish % battery life which is damn amazing!

        • +4

I've had an iphone 8 for about a month. I had a specific reason to get an iphone (they work with my hearing aids) and the refurb iphone 8 was cheaper than any decent Android. I'm developing a grudging respect for it, tbh. I like that it can run the latest ios but I've seen apps that require more recent hardware (just don't ask me to name them). I'll probably go back to Android eventually, but for now it's doing its job pretty well.

      • +2

        Same old Messi vs Ronaldo

      • +1

Funny how the only people who use the word "fanboi" are die-hard Android fundamentalists.

    • +2

Don't know why you're getting all the down votes because you're not wrong

      • +4

Probably some people thought I criticised a none Apple phone or thought I was an Apple fanboi. Foldable or not, including any smartphones such as an iPhone or any Galaxy S etc $1199 is too much for a smartphone. Maybe I am the only one cannot comfortably afford a $1,000 smartphone.

        • +13

People negged you because it's all relative. What's not worth it to you, is worth it to others. What's worth it to you, may not be worth it to others.

I see you posted deals for:

For all those examples above I'm sure you'd be able to come up with a reason why the deals you posted are superior - which is my point. What you find important in an item can be different to what someone else finds important.

Cost is all relative too. A poor student might think spending $30 for breakfast at a cafe on a Saturday morning is a ridiculous waste of money, but someone who has been working fulltime for 5 years might not bat an eyelid at spending that amount.

If everybody was only driven by price, everyone would only be wearing clothes from Kmart or Target and eating food from Aldi. But in reality, there's more to life than just price alone.

          • @eug: Gold!

          • +1

@eug: Yeah that’s why I rethought and said I was the one who couldn’t comfortably afford a $1,000 smartphone.

  • +2

    Very good price

  • +4

This is a very good price for Fold 3.

I've got one, the extra screen real estate is pretty awesome, is it heavy - but you get used to it.
The cameras are not the best - get's the job done, main camera quality lags behind other flagship phones.

  • I wonder if it's a price error and it's meant to be $2199.

    • +3

I think it meant to be 1999, not 1199

      Other colours are 1999

      • +2

        Yeah that sounds right!

  • +2

This looks like a price error considering the black one is $1999. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-z-fold3-5g…

    • +1

Even their non-error price $1999 put tomorrow Telstra's Day deal to shame @ $2199.

  • +2

    $20 apology coupon coming soon!

  • +1

    100% pricing error.

    • +1

even at $1199 we um and ah - this product isn't quite ready for primetime.

  • +3

Agreed this is 100% an error.
Your best bet is to line up in front of a store before they open and get it before they read any dishonor memo's

Not this time. Can't Click/Collect with this.

  • +1

Thanks. Bought and see how it goes.

    • +9

Same. No click and collect so had to go with delivery.

      Damn. Was cancelled.

      • Was yours cancelled with PayPal?

        • No not via PayPal.

      • +1

Oh wow they've got people working at this time? That's impressive and odd at the same time.

        • +3

          Probably lurking around OzB…

  • +4

Anyone else getting: "your order has been cancelled as it didn't meet our verification process" email? 🧐🧐🧐

    • Yes…..must be a pricing error

      • something is wrong with they payment, my credit card got rejected, then using paypal it works, but somehow, they charged my credit card already…., so now i got charged twice

    • Not yet. Paid Paypal with Toll delivery and received the auto email confirmation that all looks good, but expecting it will be cancelled soon :-(

    • I got a confirmation. Let's see.

Estimated delivery by 29 Apr 2022 with Toll. We'll send tracking link(s) once your order has been processed.

      • that's like almost 4 weeks away…

      • +4

toll? may as well be cancelled.

  • +1

Used my Gift Cards, so see how it goes…

  • Thanks, bought it using paypal, let's see if it goes through!

  • Yeh direct payment seems to fail. Paypal worked fine.

  • +1

    too good to be true

  • +1

well got to be in it to win it, mostly likely get refunded again

  • +1

OOS, dangit wish i saw it earlier, even though likely in error, still worth the gamble

  • Oops! We can't find the page you're looking for.

  • Just tried to purchase, out of stock

  • +5

    They just canceled my order

    • Well shit. Guess cancellations incoming.

    • +6

      You didn't need it anyway….

      • +10

        Shut up mum.

    • Did u pay via Paypal?

    • What was your payment method?

  • +4

I have one of these. The internal display stopped working after 4 months and Samsung have been terrible to deal with. No update after 3 weeks from sending the device in.

    • +3

These experimental devices should always be purchased with Samsung Care+
      Warranty is a risky Business

      • +5

Samsung care+ is not what you think it is. I thought it's better warranty. It's not. It's if you break it (non warranty) and want to pay to get it replaced.

Doesn't help warranty claims at all.

        • +1

It also seems to have a few more "tricks" to getting replacement devices based on WP.

I signed up for Care+ for my Fold2… haven't used it yet but planning to near end of year to get a new phone. That being said, clearly resale values of a Fold2 are going to be crap given you can get the Fold3 for $1200 brand new.

EDIT: Just realised it was a pricing error.

        • Didn't say it's better warranty. I meant it's too risky to rely on warranty. With Care+ at least you get a new phone for a few hundred extra dollars if you are so keen to get an experimental phone.

          Check this out:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/683607

          • +1

@MKBHD: Is the Fold still consider 'experimental'?

Fold 4 should coming in 4th quarter this year from a quick google-fu.

          • +4

            @MKBHD:

            Check this out:

You should keep in mind that you'll only hear about the negative experiences. Samsung could have sold 100,000 Flips and if 1% had issues, you'll very likely hear from the 1,000 dissatisfied buyers but won't hear much from the 99,000 satisfied buyers.

            • +1

@eug: Yeah I've owned the fold 3 for a few months and it's pretty neat. I haven't had any hardware issues so far. I have even dropped the phone without a case about 5 times in a row on new years when I was blind and there is only a few small hidden cracks on the front screen so I'm pretty happy.

              • @bestywesty: Did you have care+ and get a new screen?

                • +2

@Sammyboy: I actually did get care plus because you can get it after you buy the phone, there is a cutoff period however. There was also a half price promotion. As care plus lasts for 2 years, I'm just going to keep using as is because I don't mind the small scratches. Once 2 years is coming up, I'll pay $299 for a brand new fold 3 and probably sell that on gumtree or something brand new and get the next fold or smth.

                  • @bestywesty: May I ask what the time limit is and how you went about this. I'll check too
