Thanks. Any plain English summary anyone would be appreciated.
@RexHavoc: New reg on battery coming soon
@RexHavoc: TL;DR - packaging of button cells AND the devices that use them need to be tested as child-resistant.
Batteries:
Packaging must be child-resistant for button/
coin batteries of lithium chemistry of all sizes, and
button/coin batteries of a chemistry other than
lithium with a diameter of 16 mm or above.
Compliance testing must demonstrate childresistant packaging requirements have been met.
Where multiple button/coin batteries are
supplied, blister packaging must be designed to
release only one battery at a time.
Any spare button/coin batteries that are supplied
with a consumer good, where the battery is not
pre-installed in a secure battery compartment,
must be enclosed in child-resistant packaging.Products involving the batteries:
Consumer goods containing button/coin
batteries that are intended to be replaced
by the consumer must have a secure battery
compartment that is resistant to being opened
by young children.
Consumer goods containing button/coin
batteries, whether or not the batteries are
intended to be replaced, must be secure and
not release the batteries during reasonably
foreseeable use or misuse conditions.
Compliance testing must demonstrate that safety
requirements have been met.

I bet he dreams about him
You might want to do some Googling on issues associated with children swallowing batteries. You guys get triggered, so easily, that you can’t think straight anymore.
If you can expand on the regulations. Haven’t heard anything.
tell me too
whats the differnce
Button batteries now have stricter standards around how they're packaged. Similarly the devices that use them also have stricter standards that need to be met so that they're safer. To be clear, button batteries aren't being phased out but come 22 June this year, their packaging must meet new standards.
appreciate the explanation
so clearing this old packaging
I saw these in my local WA coles, the expiry date was a month away. I just assumed this was the reason for the sale.
expiry date is always the thing for me …..bunnings eveready have date printed and are dual.y fresh with years of shelf life left …..on weekend 2 pack was $2 and 4 battery was $4 on special ….must have price matched someone so i stocked up on eveready.
These are ~half of OP prices today.
Expiry was 08/22 on the ones I saw over weekend at 2 different coles
Wouldn't recommend these even at this price, bought these last month for a glucose monitor, lasted two days before the machine started throwing low battery warnings.
hows for car fob battery?
Which ones do you normally get? From where?
Nice! Good for my temperature sensors
I see that all of these are all dated August 2022. Does that mean the warranty basically is until that time?
because I am unlikely to start using these Spares by August
I'm guessing on clearance everywhere because of the new regulations coming into effect soon.
