Good value. Halfway between the Portable Power Packs and your typical 120ah battery box. A happy medium between portability and power, with ability to customise to your needs (portable solar, auxiliary battery mounted in car, etc).

Don't forget to confirm if a MPPT, DCDC Charger, Inverter, etc is required to meet your specific use case. If you have any questions, post a comment and I'll do my best to answer them.

eBay vs Direct

4WD Supa Centre Direct Link - eBay Link

Shipping is a flat $31.50 through eBay while shipping varies based on postcode via 4WD SC's online store. May be cheaper or more expensive. If you have vouchers, giftcards, or want extra buyer protection then it's better to go through eBay.

You can click and collect for free both directly and eBay. If you select C&C on eBay you can leave a message/note on the order with your chosen store. If you don't, they will use the store closest to your billing address. View store locations.

    • Thanks for the direct link. I checked shipping and it is a bit cheaper if you go direct.

That said, there are potential benefits to going through eBay, such as possible discount codes, giftcards, and eBay protection. If you're going Click & Collect, I recommend going through eBay.

      • Under $25 delivery for me in Brisbane

        • That's good. Close to $29 for me, which is weird because the Varsity Lakes store is <10 minutes away.

@besttechadvisor: You can send a message and do click and collect at your local store for an eBay order.

  • Would this battery be good for an inflatable boat small engine?

Depends on water conditions, trolling motor size and how long you plan to use it for.

As a parallel, I use a 18LB trolling motor on my kayak (which is more hydrodynamic than an inflatable boat so uses less power) and could get about 4-6hours of power from a 22ah lifepo4 - hard to get precise usage since I didn't run it full pelt but this is with the motor on for most of that period.

So, assuming you know which size motor is appropriate for your planned usage, just lookup the amps draw for that motor (making sure it's a 12v or 24v - if it's 24v, you need TWO of these batteries) - will look something like 15a. Then divide 60ah (this battery) by 15a to get how many hours of constant use. In this case you would get no more than 4hours if constant use. Keep in mind you wont get the full 60ah cause the BMS will cut you off at a certain % to protect the cells, should be about 5-10% remaining, so that means you'll likely get just over 3.5hrs on a 15a draw trolling motor.

If you stop throughout your journey, then the battery will obviously last longer, solar might be an add on if you have the space to trickle a bit in.

I found the specs on the Anaconda website where amp usage is stated to be 9 – 20 Amps.

Assuming you're using 20 Amps at full throttle, you simply need to divide the Amp Hours by the Amps to get the number of Hours (hence the metric "Amp Hours"):

          60 Ah / 20 A = 3 H

Essentially you could go full throttle for 3 hours if you had full use of those 60 Ah. Only use half throttle (10 amps) and you'll go twice as long. As @anthman correctly pointed out, you'll lose roughly 10% of that 60 Ah because of the BMS. If you were to purchase an AGM battery then you'd lose much more (don't get an AGM to try and save money, you'll regret it).

You can get a cheap bluetooth battery monitor so you don't get stranded. I use the BM6 and am very happy with it considering it cost me <$30.
