Probably pretty basic but very cheap for a 10" tablet.

- Sleek design
Probably pretty basic but very cheap for a 10" tablet.
Reviews don’t fill me with confidence
Horrible. Why?
1GB Ram?
Sleek Design?
Was literally this close to buying it, then I saw 1GB RAM.
I'm usually the guy who comes on saying 2GB is fine for basic stuff. But even I know that 1GB (and Lazer, absolute shit company at that) is not gonna be a good time.
Update: Bought one anyway. Target are pretty good with returns, if it turns out (sorry, when it turns out) to be unusably shit, I'll take it back.
You’ll be waiting a while… for it to load!
Believe you me, I know. I bought 3 or 4 of Laser's 7" tablets on clearance in Safeway like 4/5 years ago and even at 10 bucks a pop they were a (profanity) joke. Think I traded them in to Cashies either for a loss or maybe broke even if lucky.
tbh I impulsed bought this one based on rebooting an old Nexus 7 recently that has decided to work remarkably well.
Then after starting this reply though, I remembered the Nexus 7 was a decent tablet in it's day, and a rebooted and streamlined decent tablet from a decade ago, will trounce any modern tablet that was shit out the gate no matter what you do. Here's hoping it will work well as a Disney+ machine in the car for the kiddo at least lmao
What a stupid purchase, might just return it boxed when it comes. After buying the Simpsons and OutRun arcades from here the other day at a grand a pop, a <50 buck purchase seemed like nothing.
Is it a Nexus 7 2013 by chance? If so someone ported Android 12L to it recently so it's still getting some lovel.
Unrelated, are you a massive Duke Nukem fan?
@Clear: Nah, 2012. Though I got it in 2013 for what that's worth (re: nothing). I saw that the other week actually. I've had this sitting at the back of a box of crap for yeeeears. It wouldn't even turn on, ripped the battery out and back in and eventually got it going again. Then it was dog slow after a reset. Reset again for some reason and it works fine for light browsing and Disney/Netflix/YouTube. Frankly the kiddo doesn't need it anyway but we bought a house about an hour and a half away and there's gonna be a fair bit of driving in her future so I was like (profanity) it I'll revive the thing for the sake of that, that was unnecessary, but this purchase after fixing the N7 was just stupid. Oh well. Don't know that I've ever had buyer's remorse hit that quick. That should be their new slogan.
Massive? I wouldn't say so. I (profanity) adore 3D and Forever (yes), and have played some of the others, but the only one other than 3D/DNF I've finished was Manhattan Project. I do love me some Duke 3D and shit, so like, I'd say I'm a pretty big fan of that (and classic shooters in general) but the Duke series as a whole, I'm not the most knowledgable, like, DN1/2 I've played maybe an hour or two of them combined. An ex did get me a Duke Nukem figure from the other side of the city just shy of 10 years ago that I still have though which is cool, only thing I've kept from an ex. Well, one of them I did keep a couple pairs of leggings she left here, though to be fair, I look better in them anyway. Damn, I'm looking good
Edit: I did platinum Forever, and Duke 3D (and 1000GS'd), and have all chivos in Manhattan on 360, more cool is for a while I was the first person in the world to 100% Duke 3D on PS3's achievement list on PSNProfiles (a couple years down the line one or two people synced and had earlier stamps, maybe hacks, maybe they never synced, who knows, who cares, still a fun fact)
@TheDukeOfNukem: Ah yes the 2012. That was my first Android tablet that I got in 2013 as well and it was really amazing. I guess you can use this Laser as a new fancy albeit expensive picture frame. Have it scrolling through photos - it's really not a bad idea.
The reason I asked if you're a massive fan is because I know someone in Melbs who is a massive fan and visits this site. I guess you're not him :P I grew up with the original Duke 2 and Duke 3D. Besides all the official and unofficial 3D expansions I've never played any of the others. I do have a collection of original boxed Duke copies though.
Is the figure one of these old school ones by chance?
@Clear: While we are on dedicated uses for shitty tablets, I am thinking of making a small virtual pinball with one, mainly to play star wars pinball. I have a very crap and old 512mb tablet, and it runs it but it's prone to slow downs. If this worked smoothly for that I would consider getting one, as long as you can see the screen well enough in portrait mode.
Then again there's probably people getting rid of much better tablets for less money second hand.
On the topic of let down tablets, I bought the big w JVC 11.6" 4g tablet with keyboard. Whiles its OK, it's no where near as good as the chromebook I already had, couldn't get quite a few things working on it during covid lock down home school and also wifi reception is shitty as. It would do fine as a single use tablet but it's not cheap enough for that IMO. I think it's just poor optimisation as it has 2gb
Target doesn't allow returns on clearance items unless they changed that.
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.
it's running android GO , and 1gb ram still meets the min. requirement
the problem is crap SoC/cpu
you could probably make an argument that it's not fit for purpose (being a working tablet)
I have returned clearance items more than once in the recent past without any issue. I think it's the specially marked clearance stuff that you can't return, i.e. the stuff in a rack with a long yellow sticker that has a barcode on it.
If an item isn't fit for purpose they can't refuse a refund because they label it as "clearance"
paper weight
Slow and glitches, extremely frustrating, my toddler even gets frustrated with it
.
Not clear and slow. Wish I had of spent more money and got an iPad but I thought for a child it would be ok, but it’s not.
.
Slow in working. Only bought for 3yr old to watch kids YouTube, and won’t load always gets out of app before even able too pick a video.
.
Poor quality, battery only last 2 hours, and some apps won’t work and others do.
I bought an Alcatel 10" tablet recently for about $50 with the docking station. Man it's damn slow brand new out of the box! I don't know how they can sell this junk. Past reviews were ok as well and RRP was quite a bit (circa $300 I think as it has 4G LTE). Fortunately I'm just using it as a smart home control panel via Home Assistant. But would be torture to use. I imagine this Laser tablet is probably worse.
its products like these that is whats really causing climate change…
Excellent chopping board
If you have a child with no other electronics to compare and you don't like them then this is perfect.
Perfect for training a child to be patient.
I'd suggest making a gif saying this on repeat:
REMEMBER ME?
YOU DON'T NEED TO BUY EVERYTHING ON OZBARGAIN
Then permanently soldering this tablet playing it to your wallet.
Any company makes any android with 1gb ram need to be fined
Id be using one just for a home assistant dashboard. Being Android 10 Go, it should be ok?
Scrap that. Theres only one store in WA that possibly has it, and i doubt its there.
Also, no delivery, its in store special only. OP should amend the title
