Thanks OP. Even with the discount this charger could be a little too expensive:

Some people say you get what you pay for. Maybe it's nuclear.

      • +7

Unlike the $15 charger deal, which Lenovo did not honour it, this one Lenovo will process and try to clear your payment for sure.

I think the kicker is "Ships in more than 8 weeks". I'd expect next day delivery by someone famous for that price

          At that price probably handmade.

… Combining fine craftsmanship with impressive electronics and a stylish aesthetic, luxury chargers have always been much more than simple accessories. They ooze prestige and elegance and some of them are even considered status symbols right now. But as you know, not all chargers are created equal and in today’s world, there are just a few high end brands that still offer handmade chargers.

As technology has advanced a lot in these last decades, many luxury chargers are built automatically in factories, for improved efficiency and mass production. But if you’re still looking to invest in a handmade luxury charger that will always prove to be a valuable addition to your charger collection, then you cannot go past this…

      Best 3050 and 3060 options?

      • +1

        L5 17 with 3060 comes down to $2000 isn't too shabby

        L5i 15 with 3060 $1800

can't see anything else worth mentioning gaming wise

        maybe they'll add more afterwards

        • Also this one.

          IdeaPad Gaming 3 - AMD Ryzen 5 5600H 16GB RAM 512GB SSD RTX3060 120Hz for $1500.

Would this be alright for video editing and gaming on the go.
Thinking of buying one for travelling in the caravan.

@[Deactivated]: I never recommend the Ideapad Gaming, because of inferior build and components, inferior cooling, lower TGP, small battery etc.

            inferior everything

you are better off getting the Gigabyte posted yesterday for less. battery is also small there, but better screen, keyboard, 3 storage slots, higher TGP of 3060.

            but that's my opinion.

            • @shabaka: Thanks mate.

              Might have to join afterpay.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: yeah I know. I have been keeping distance from all these BNPL because I don't like having another form of debt on my books

                credit cards are perfectly fine

was tempting though with all the recent Afterpay deals, but nah, I'll wait for another eBay sale that doesn't require BNPL

        • L5 17 with 3060 a good buy? Looking for a budget gaming laptop might have to bite the bullet on this deal.

            @francis888: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-Legion-5-17-with-RTX-30…

            here's the review

I would say it's a good model, although you got to make sure you are happy with the limitations: plastic build, as a result 3.1kg weight is heavy even by 17 incher standards. TGP is top 130w for 3060, but they certainly have more space for the heat pipes, 3 is not exactly generous

for comparison, I got a refurb Aorus 17g with 11800H and 3070 for $2200, and that's a full metal build, mech keyboard with per key RGB, 300hz panel, 99wh battery, 5 heatpipes - everything leaves Lenovo 17 incher behind

so it's a good model (L5 17), but you have to understand its limitations, and price is a bit too high even with the discount IMO

P.S. another thing to keep in mind with 5800H and 5600H ryzens is that dGPU is connected to the CPU over 8 lanes of PCIe 3.0 bus

while 11800H for instance has dGPU on 16 lanes of PCIe 4.0. for fast paced FPS you are better off with Intel, especially if you play competitive.

            • @shabaka: Yeah the limitations are okay for me, sorry I am not very tech savvy lol

I've never bought a laptop and I am just using the company surface pro but it's a bit too small and slow for me.

Can you recommend other better options if possible? I tried searching for Aorus 17g but it's above my budget as my ceiling is only $2,000.

I don't play competitive just casual gaming.

EDIT: Oh thanks by the way for your reply!

@francis888: if you are fine dealing with refurb (I understand people who avoid it), JW have a good enough selection of refurb Gigabyte. this is "what's left" of the last batch, and you could ask them to see if there are more coming

                https://www.jw.com.au/laptop?product_list_order=price

there are 2 solid Aero options, both 10th gen i7 though, but that's again a full metal slim build, and a 17" 300hz 3060 for $1799 and 15" 144hz 3070 for $1999 which is as good as it gets at this price. 1 year warranty and I don't know where you live but there's a Gigabyte cervice center right here in Melbs. those are premium laptops and I love dealing with JW, however that's a 10th gen Intel, by now 2 gen old, so that's something to consider in terms of resale value later on (unless you plan to just run it into the ground)

if you are willing to buy brand new only, there are HP OMEN and Lenovo really, Dell doesn't have anything decent under $2000.

if you have access to Education pricing you can relatively easily find a HP Omen or Lenovo L5P with a full power 3060 under $2000

if no access to Education pricing and OK to wait a bit more, with GPUs getting cheaper by the day, laptops are bound to follow suit, at least to a degree, and you'll be able to pick up a good model with 11th gen intel or ryzen 5xxxH under $2000 no problem

but if you have to spend money now, it is a good option (L5 17). there's also L5i (non pro) for $1800 on this sale, they are just as capable, but more portable than this 17 incher

    • Underwhelming. Check model numbers as some of the listing's descriptions say 120hz screen etc when they're only 60hz

    • Anyone got experience with Lenovo's Yoga (slim) models?

Looking at recommending something for a friend who needs a good workhorse for business needs, and this is a Ryzen 7 going for ~$1600.
