$102 Upfront Optus Credit for Eligible Postpaid Customers (Excludes Choice Plus) with Netflix Subscription @ Optus SubHub

2510

Saw a banner tonight in the My Optus App giving 6 months worth of Netflix for free.
This is available to existing Netflix customers.

Optus will provide $102 upfront credit to your Optus account once you have linked your Netflix login.
Please see screenshot of promotion banner

When will I receive my $102 account credit on my Optus account?

The $102 credit will be applied to your Optus account once it has been confirmed you are eligible for the offer, and that you have successfully activated a new or brought over your existing Netflix subscription via the SubHub platform before the offer is withdrawn. It will be applied to your next bill.

What if I want opt-out of renewing my Netflix subscription?

If you do not wish to renew your subscription, you can unsubscribe within the SubHub platform. You can do this at any time. Access to Netflix will cease at the next monthly renewal date for the subscription. This will not impact on the $102 credit applied to their account.

Can I take up Netflix Basic on SubHub?

Optus is not offering the Netflix Basic Subscription via SubHub. If you are an existing Netflix Basic customer wishing to link your service, you will need to upgrade to a Standard or Premium Plan, which you can do via SubHub. If you are a new Netflix customer, you can select either the Standard or Premium plan options

If I have an existing Netflix subscription, do I need to contact Netflix so they stop billing me?

If you pay your account through Netflix, then once you move your Netflix subscription to Optus, Netflix will be automatically updated to stop billing you. However, if you pay your account through Apple or the App Store you will need to contact your provider to stop being billed. For any further questions, please contact Netflix Customer Service: https://help.netflix.com/en/.

When I have Netflix via SubHub, what will I see on my Optus bill?

You will see the monthly Netflix Standard HD or Premium HD subscription cost on your account. If you choose to cancel your subscription via SubHub, the monthly subscription cost will cease at the end of the next monthly renewal date for the subscription.

Terms and conditions

Eligible Optus Postpaid account holders who activate their SubHub account and successfully activate a Netflix subscription through the SubHub platform subhub.com.au from 07/03/2022 until the offer is withdrawn will receive a $102 credit on their Optus account. The offer is only available through select channels. The credit will be applied to the customer’s account and any amount left unused on the account will be forfeited. Customers must be new, lapsed, or existing Netflix customers to take up the offer. Prepaid customers, customers with Choice Plus mobile plans, Connected Device or Watch plans are excluded. SubHub T&Cs and Netflix Terms of Use apply. Offer available for a limited time until withdrawn.

31/3 Mod Edit: "Offer ends on 31 March, 2022"

  • Got too excited and signed up. Didn’t even know I was choice plus. So I have donated $17

    • +2

      Thanks for your support.

  • Redeemed, thanks OP

  • +1

I think if this doesn't show for you in the deals you're not eligible. It didn't show in my account but I followed link from the OP and it showed so I signed up however it says I will be billed the $16.99 for Netflix and no mention of free months.

    • happened to me too. Was going to create an account for a mate. I'm just going to stick to my Turkish account for now..

  • +1

I have a Turkish billing and this looks risky. Worst case, I could lose the current Turkish billing setup as they transfer the payment to SubHub, or have to pay a $16.99 upfront to try on a new account and wait for the credit to be applied…if ever..

    • +1

Unlikely its going to work - not worth the risk.

    • Any suggestions on how can we create the turkish account? I heard it can be a cheaper option to watch netflix over VPN.

  • +1

Any way to tell if it’s been activated? I didn’t get the banner but the link in op worked.

  • I paid via Netflix direct a few days ago, then I switched over to Subhub today after seeing this and it’s going to charge me again for the month. So I’m double paying for Netflix this month.

I would have thought the two companies would have a system in place for this. Hopefully I can get one or the other to credit me or something.

It also says my first payment via Subhub is $37 and I only have Netflix. So something weird is going on.

Be careful and check once you’ve transferred.

    • I tried this earlier today (still can't see where the credit might appear), but in transferring my Netflix to SubHub the billing has also moved across. If you check your account via Netflix you should see that the account billing is now managed by SubHub. If so, you shouldn't get billed twice.

  • 6 months of Amazon Prime for free. new users

  • doesn't seem to be available for my JB HiFi purchased plan :-(. does remind me though the plan has exspired and time to switch away from optus.

    • +1

      Jbhifi uses the telstra network!

      • hmmm could have sworn it was jb I got that from, oh well, regardless it was one of the deals from a retailer.

        • Harvey Norman do optus

          • @kimba88: yeah HN aint somewhere I would ever have shopped for a phone/plan. Can't even remember last time I visited them.

  • I only pay $10.99 to Netflix direct. Looks like I get the $102 bonus but they want to charge me $16.99?

    • +2

"Optus is not offering the Netflix Basic Subscription via SubHub. • Just got to know from Optus support that Optus is offering a deal with NBN. If you get a premium plan Netflix will be free along with the plan until withdrawn.
The 50 MBPS plan is actually $99 and you will get unlimited data. Now there is a discount of $10 for 6 months so that you have to pay $89 for the first 6 months.

If interested, chat with them for more details.

    • +1

looks like this is only included on the Internet Entertainer Family plan.

comparing to the non family plans available, for the first 6 months it is $10 a month more, and then $20 extra per month after that.
Hardly seems worth it unless they were to able to include it on the lower plans as it ends up cheaper adding Netflix separately yourself.

  • I just paid for my netflix subscription at the start of the month. Now I will be billed by optus this month. Will I get a refund from netflix?

What happens if I cancel my eligible Optus service?

You will lose access to your Netflix subscription service through SubHub at the next monthly renewal date if you cancel all eligible Optus services on your account unless you change your billing account (if you are the account holder of more than one Optus account) in the SubHub settings tab of the platform. Alternatively, you can set up an alternative payment method for you Netflix subscription directly via the Netflix platform.

Need to read the fine prints carefully. If you move out from Optus, you'll lose your netflix account.

    • +2

No, the billing will just stop so your subscription ends. Pop in a credit card, and it'll reactivate

      • +1

        I stand corrected. Thanks :)

  • I see the offer in my Optus app and can start the signup/transfer process. But under Subhub it doesn't show as an offer (I can see other offers like amazon). Netflix just looks like a standard sign up.

So, not sure if I am eligible or not.

I'm on an Optus One ($119) Plan.

    • Same with me. not sure if I should open new Netflix account to take this offer or not..

    • same boat. Actually I can see the $102 credit offer via My Optus App. But I cannot see the offer on the PC.
I signed up through the app.

      • +2

Even on my app it just says "Pick" under Netflix whereas under Britbox (for example) it says "1 month on us".

        • +1

Me too. I'm currently on 12 months free Amazon so maybe not being offered this

      • How did you signed up via the app? Did you mean Subhub app? I dont think they have app already..

        • I'm guessing he means on the phone.

I've taken a chance and signed up too. Kept multiple screenshots just in case.

          • +1

@gadgetguy: Right.. I can see the offer in My optus app and also can see $102 from Subhub when I click the banner. But it doesnt show anything once I login to Subhub to continue..

    • Same here, can see it in Optus app but doesn't show up when I log on to Subhub account.

Saving grace is I also received an e-mail today on this offer (came on to OzB to search a post on this after seeing the e-mail!), and in the e-mail it explicitly says they will apply the $102 credit to my account (number quoted) so if any issues I have the e-mail to confirm eligibility.

  • +3

I dint get the promo.. had a chat with Optus SUB HUB help and was advised of the below

As I check your account you only have NBN services with Optus.

Customers excluded from the offer are customers with:

Only Mobile Broadband services on their account
Only Internet services on their account
Only Prepaid services on their account
Optus Choice Plus Mobile plans on their account
Only a connected device / watch plan on their account
The nbn Family Entertainer or 5G Entertainer Superfast plans with Standard Netflix inclusions
    Overdue bills or 'in Collections'

  • However, if you pay your account through Apple or the App Store you will need to contact your provider to stop being billed.

Boo. I'm on the grandfathered iTunes billing method, 'coz I still get discounted gift cards through work. If I take this up it sounds like I'll lose access to iTunes billing.

    • +1

Start a new account mate, pay $16 bucks get $102.

  • My bill says Optus Choice Medium - is this the same as the Optus Choice Plus?

  • +5

I have optus postpaid mobile (My plus plan 12mnth SIM) since last 7 years and already have subhub account. I have taken 12 months free subscription for amazon prime last year (5 months are still left). I have never subscribed to netflix before and when I login to my subhub account, I can only see Netflix subscription logo to pick (without anything written like 6 months free or $102 credit). So is this deal only for targeted customer? or optus will give $102 later when I take this netflix subscription?

To get my answer, I contacted optus for above query via online subhub help chat. Below is his reply:

Only 5G and NBN selected plans are eligible for free 6 months offer therefore you are not eligible for this offer.

So i guess this offer is not for me. My suggestion, pls check with optus before you setup the subscription. cheers

  • So at what point do we cancel the Netflix subscription if we're only after the credit on our account? I worry I won't get the credit if I cancel now. Plus there is no way to check if the credit has been added to our account yet is there? I assume we have to wait for our next bill?

  • Does anyone know what happens if you already have Netflix credit on your account and you join this Sub-hub deal?

I still have $67.96 credit (ie. 4months free) on Netflix via the Chromecast with Google TV deal

    • +1

your credits remain in your account and optus takes over the billing. when optus stops billing you the credits will start getting used again.

  • +1

this is very deceptive .I am on 24 month post paid mobile broadband plan started 2 days ago. I went into subhub and did the netflix sub,it flashed up $102 deal. Now just chatting to Optus they say not eligible.Gone to higher up agent,he is double checking. He says not eligible.
    Another scam by Optus.

    • The link in OP is misleading, everyone will see the $102 credit going through that url, doesn't mean you're eligible.
You need to login to https://www.subhub.com.au
If you can see the offer, then you're eligible.
If not then don't gamble it.

      • Yep, I reckon I've lost $17. I'm not too salty about it because I've gained a lot more from OzBargain, but I'm pretty sure I got this one wrong.

      • I saw that $102 before logging into subhub but couldn't recall if it was still there after logging.

  • I have the banner under offers in the Optus App, and then when I log into subhub but once added it says cost is $16.99 this month so doesnt seem to work.

  • I had subscribed for both Amazon Prime and Netflix (now).. I was pretty quick when i signed up, i think i saw the offer but i am not sure now! So the question to fellow OZB who claimed this offer.. For Prime it says "12 months on us" and then it says "5 months remaining" do you guys see something similar in the SubHub for Netflix when you login?

    Thanks for your responses!

    • My account only said 6 months on us.

  • Ah I'm on optus choice. So no deal for me. Still have amazon until Aug tho

  • I must not be eligible. I'm in Star Hub and it says I can add Netflix as an exciting customer for Standard or Premium prices. Nothing about 6 months for free

    • +1

Wow so exciting. It wasn’t showing for me neither but an online chat confirmed I was eligible.

  • i have a Optus Choice Small plan does that qualify or is it part of the plus group?

  • Can someone confirm. I didnt get the SMS and Optus chat says only people who got the sms are eligable.

  • I received an email addressed to me advertising this offer with a "Learn more" link.

when I click the link I see the $102 button but when I sign into sub hub it doesn't show the offer anywhere else.

  • I had a small banner saying $102 credit but no credit after signing up, not yet at least.

  • When does this deal end anyone know? I am already subscribed through someone on the classifieds so don’t need to start a new plan yet..

  • Sorry little confused how this works for existing netflix standard customers. I cant see where it links to my current netflix account

  • +2

Verified, received the credit on my bill today

For the record I have the Optus One plan and didn't have Netflix. Signed up just for the credit

    https://postimg.cc/QBxYmHyy

    • Thanks. So get charged for one month and then cancel to pocket the difference?

      • That's what I plan on doing. They've given me the credit already, it's not like they'll take it away now

  • +1

I got my credit yesterday. As mentioned in my earlier post, I didn't receive an invitation and the offer wasn't shown on the Netflix sign up page. I only saw the banner ad for the offer.

So it looks like it's open to all, as long as you have the right type of Plan with them. I'm on Optus One.

    • Same here - I'm on Optus One - offer did not show up on my sign-up page but I signed up for a new Netflix account and the $102 credit popped up in my Optus bill received today

      • Don't forget to cancel :-)

        • Just done it - note when you cancel the Netflix account stays active until renewal date.

        • Oh damn.. I've already cancelled before receiving my bill. Do you think I've done the wrong thing now?

  • didnt see offer on subhub after logging in, did chat they said my choice small plan qualifies . activated it but i couldn't find check out option using chrome but worked for IE. hopefully ill get $102 credited on next bill so then i can cancel it.

  • I got the offer on email for first time today , clicked through the link and setup the account ( no sign or mention of 102 credit at sign up but since I have the email it should be ok I am guessing ) . Will wait and see

    • Same, just got this offer in email.
Clicked through and set up, no mention of credit so we shall wait….

  • I've have $152.91 Netflix credit
Your account is paid until 27 December 2022.
If I jump on this Optus promo, what will the outcome be for me?

    • the credit will remain as it is. Optus will take over your netflix billing and add it to your optus plan. When you cancel netflix through optus subhub, you can go back to netflix and use the remaining credit which wont have changed.

      • Beware of billing cycle dates though. You may have already started a new billing cycle with Netflix and paid for that month, but once you sign up to sub hub with Optus, the new billing date will be from date of sign up. Effectively, there’s a chance you would be doubling up your payment for a short period of time.

  • Got the credit and cancelled after bill issued.
    Thanks OP

  • Also have the credit on my latest bill. Cancelled the subscription. Cha-Ching! Thanks OP

  • Expires today (thanks RogueWolf)

  • Thanks, credit popped up!

  • i wasnt targeted with the offer but on a plan that qualifies after doing the chat. Got the credit and cancelled after bill was issued.
    Thanks OP

  • Just received my bill and didn't have the credit applied. Called up and they said it will show on the second bill - I'm a little sceptical - did anyone else have this issue/response from Optus?

    • Got told the same and just received my second bill and it still doesn't have the credit…

      • Same, no credit and I'm a little suspicious about them saying that it will appear on the second bil…

        • Now I've been told that I needed a postpaid mobile account so I'm not eligible for the offer… time to cancel

        • +1

They'll say anything to get you off the call. I was credited on my first bill, a week or so after signing up.
