$102 Upfront Optus Credit for Eligible Postpaid Customers (Excludes Choice Plus) with Netflix Subscription @ Optus SubHub

2510

Saw a banner tonight in the My Optus App giving 6 months worth of Netflix for free.
This is available to existing Netflix customers.

Optus will provide $102 upfront credit to your Optus account once you have linked your Netflix login.
Please see screenshot of promotion banner

When will I receive my $102 account credit on my Optus account?

The $102 credit will be applied to your Optus account once it has been confirmed you are eligible for the offer, and that you have successfully activated a new or brought over your existing Netflix subscription via the SubHub platform before the offer is withdrawn. It will be applied to your next bill.

What if I want opt-out of renewing my Netflix subscription?

If you do not wish to renew your subscription, you can unsubscribe within the SubHub platform. You can do this at any time. Access to Netflix will cease at the next monthly renewal date for the subscription. This will not impact on the $102 credit applied to their account.

Can I take up Netflix Basic on SubHub?

Optus is not offering the Netflix Basic Subscription via SubHub. If you are an existing Netflix Basic customer wishing to link your service, you will need to upgrade to a Standard or Premium Plan, which you can do via SubHub. If you are a new Netflix customer, you can select either the Standard or Premium plan options

If I have an existing Netflix subscription, do I need to contact Netflix so they stop billing me?

If you pay your account through Netflix, then once you move your Netflix subscription to Optus, Netflix will be automatically updated to stop billing you. However, if you pay your account through Apple or the App Store you will need to contact your provider to stop being billed. For any further questions, please contact Netflix Customer Service: https://help.netflix.com/en/.

When I have Netflix via SubHub, what will I see on my Optus bill?

You will see the monthly Netflix Standard HD or Premium HD subscription cost on your account. If you choose to cancel your subscription via SubHub, the monthly subscription cost will cease at the end of the next monthly renewal date for the subscription.

Terms and conditions

Eligible Optus Postpaid account holders who activate their SubHub account and successfully activate a Netflix subscription through the SubHub platform subhub.com.au from 07/03/2022 until the offer is withdrawn will receive a $102 credit on their Optus account. The offer is only available through select channels. The credit will be applied to the customer’s account and any amount left unused on the account will be forfeited. Customers must be new, lapsed, or existing Netflix customers to take up the offer. Prepaid customers, customers with Choice Plus mobile plans, Connected Device or Watch plans are excluded. SubHub T&Cs and Netflix Terms of Use apply. Offer available for a limited time until withdrawn.

31/3 Mod Edit: "Offer ends on 31 March, 2022"

Since I don't use Netflix, basically just a free $100 bill credit - can sign up for one month of netflix then cancel

Agreed on the free $100 bill

      • Saw a banner tonight in the My Optus App giving 6 months worth of Netflix for free.

thanks for sharing/posting - unlike with Amazon Prime, Netflix isn't strictly free ("6 months on us" vs "$102 Optus credit") - from the offer, it seems:

        • Optus accounts receive $102 credit upfront, but are also charged $16.99 (Netflix Standard), so stopping within a month should net $85.01

        • for existing Netflix subscribers, including those with credit, this charge should apply to Netflix accounts from their next billing date

details about current SubHub services can be found under Your Subscriptions on the homepage/Dashboard (or Pick & Mix) e.g. Amazon Prime, Netflix

        https://www.subhub.com.au/help

If I add and remove multiple subscription services within the same billing period, will I be charged for all these subscriptions?

Yes, however the services you have cancelled will not be renewed at the next renewal date.

Will I be charged one month in advance for my subscriptions?

Yes, but it will be reflected on your next Optus bill. For example, if you sign up to a new Content subscription service through the SubHub platform in the middle of your billing cycle, it will be shown on your next Optus bill.

What happens to my subscription discount if I move from 3 charged content service subscriptions to 2? Does it decrease from the next billing cycle?

The SubHub discount will be calculated based on the number of active content service subscriptions at the time your next Optus bill is issued. Once a content service subscription has been cancelled, it will be considered as inactive (even where there is a period of access remaining before access to the Content Service subscription ends).

    • So you get $100 bill credit?

    • Subhub charge on a per month base. So the best you will get is $100-one Netflix.

    • Thanks OP done

  • +1

Could you possibly provide the Optus links?

  • +1

i wonder if it would work if you have one of those turkish/OS payment plans, i mean its just optus credit so it doesn't actually go and pay for netflix right?

    • +1

Signing up means you transfer billing to Optus so will probably lose the Turkish rates, dunno how hard it will be to switch back

    • +1

At current conversion rate. It cheaper to pay turkish rate since region payment is really a thing on netflix.

  • +2

Where can I check that $102 credited on my optus account?

    • I also want to know this.. Can anyone actually see credit on their account?

      • $102 credit showed up on my bill (issued today)

        • Did you also cancel your Netflix account or you just left it?

          • @kimba88: I cancelled today after receiving my first bill.

  • +2

    Whats the cheapest optus plan?

    • +8

The one where you don't use it.

  • Only eligible Postpaid Optus customers can take up the offer, this does not include customers who hold a Choice Plus plan.

  • -1

hey mate are you sure the credit is not added on your Netflix account rather than Optus account

    • Details are in the screenshot.

    • *$102 upfront credit to your Optus account. source

  • I signed up to the premium plan but then realised the T&C's say standard plan, I assume it will still credit me $102 though?

    • On the same boat. Don't think they are crediting the amount as per T&Cs

    • You can revise it back to the standard plan and upgrade once the credit has been applied.

    • It's standard or premium

  • After finishing setup on Netflix, you will be charged $16.99/mth on your Optus SubHub account for Netflix Standard

    Am I doing it wrong?

    • $100 credit is applied to your Optus Account.

      • Where to check this?

        • The $102 credit will be applied to your Optus account once it has been confirmed you are eligible for the offer, and that you have successfully activated a new or brought over your existing Netflix subscription via the SubHub platform before the offer is withdrawn. It will be applied to your next bill.

          • @huey: So when should I cancel this subscription to ensure I actually get the credit?

      • so I won’t be charged $16.99? isnt netflix $10.99? /month

  • +2

Main question is would this work with the Turkish account?

  • I’m on an Optus choice plan, and in T&C’s it states:
“ Prepaid customers, customers with Choice Plus mobile plans, Connected Device or Watch plans are excluded”
Does anyone know what the Optus choice plus plan is, wanna make sure I’m not on that plan. I did see the banner in the my Optus app

    • Choice Plus is their current postpaid plans that they rolled out last year around August if I remember correctly.
You can check your bill, it should say what plan you're on.

  • +1

where to see the $102 upfront credit?

I have setup in Optus Hub and Netflix.

Only thing I can see is:
Renews in a few weeks Just added

    • +2

Credit should appear on your next bill

      • +1

        alright, I will wait

      • -2

The op provided 2 pics on the post where 2nd pic mention the credit. So where should I head to for that particular page showing the credits applied?

      • +1

I transferred my Netflix to SubHub on 9 March and got my latest bill today, with no credit applied. The Optus chat team just told me it takes another bill cycle to be applied.

  • Subhub has given me good value so far $7.50/month - Amazon Prime, Optus Sport, and now hopefully Netflix. Plus a data sim with 5GB each month.

    • I don't think this offer will work. T&Cs say no connected devices plans. Still great value out of $7.5 per month.

    • You will need to be an existing Optus customer to get that $7.50 data sim hence by default you should be eligible already. Why pay $750 more?

      • Wrong, I wasn't a customer

    • +1

      I got 25gb each month.

    • That $7.5 offer is "choice plus" (I had no idea)
Hence we're excluded from this offer.

    • What's the data sim? Have I missed something?

      • +1

"Small Data Plan" 5GB per month @$15 per month.

My Optus app then has an offer of 50% off all data plan fees for 12 months.

I did it by buying a $2 "Data SIM" and activating through customer service. It did take a bit of effort (trying to do it totally online didn't work) but worth the effort.

  • +7

Mines offering 6mths Amazon Prime and a bunch of other crap I won't use, but not the Netflix offer. :(

    • +2

Same here. I wonder if it's because I'm already on the free year of Prime

      • +1

I’ve got the same issue. Guessing that you can’t have free Amazon prime and Netflix on the same account?

Happy to be corrected by anyone who has managed it.

        • Yea I got both

          • +1

@Sl138: Did you sign up for both now? Or Prime previously and Netflix now?

            • @mongos: Had prime signed up previously and Netflix now

              • @Sl138: thanks - definitely targeted then

        • i had the 12 month prime offer and seemingly could add this, although it looks like the credit wont show until next bill

          • @perfectlydark: 4 Same like you guys, I have activated 12 months Prime membership via sub… if I add this netflix, will I still get 102$ upfront credit ?
pls let me know if you have received your billing with the credit details ? thanks

            • +1

@vikramhkumar: can confirm my next bill, which came on friday, is in credit

              • +1

                @perfectlydark: Thxs for confirming 👍

              • @perfectlydark: Interestingly, my bill, issued 12 days after I transferred, still has no credit. The Optus chat team reckon it takes another bill cycle to appear.

                • @Milou: Smells like BS. My bill was a only few days after sign up.

                  • @gadgetguy: Unfortunately, I agree with you. I have to weigh up whether another 45 minutes on a chat when the next bill is issued is worth the potential to still not get the credit.

      • What plan do you have?

  • Couldn't see the banner but used the link anyway and it seemed to think it would be fine. Guess i'll find out soon enough!

    • Let me know how you go. I'm on choice plus and can't see it but when I click on the OP's link I see it.

    • I’m not seeing it either
Let us know how you go with the credit

  • +1

Is this only for mobile plans, or home broadband / nbn as well?

  • +1

    Eligibility criteria:

Only eligible Postpaid Optus customers can take up the offer, this does not include customers who hold a Choice Plus plan.

Important point this, as its basically any new plan that has started from September or so is now a choice plus plan. Be careful before signing up!

  • How tf do I get it to work? I tried changing billing from choice plus to a non-choice plus account but not getting free Netflix. Even tried broadband account.

  • +1

How does it work if i have giftcard credit on my existing netflix account to last me until next year?

    • +1

Billed through Optus SubHub package add-on
Contact Optus SubHub to update your payment details or end your billing through Optus SubHub.
Your $27.01 credit will not be used while you're on the Optus SubHub plan.

This is what I see on my Netflix account after setting it up. It seems like your credit will stay there until you cancel the Optus arrangement.

  • +2

I miss out. I have the $7.50 mobile broadband plan. Choice Plus

  • Thanks OP,

Have Optus 5g home internet so eligible for the offer, and surprisingly was not paying via the Turkish method.

    6 months free!

    • I also have 5G home broadband but the offer doesn't appear for me in subhub? How did you get it to work?

      • +2

I signed in to subhub, then clicked through to the OPs link, took a screenshot of the offer incase they decide not to credit me.

I couldn't see the offer either.

        • +1

          Thanks, I'll try that!

        • +1

I did the same, I'm eligible according to the T&Cs but it didn't mention the $102 credit explicitly when I signed up.

  • -4

Isn't Netflix losing its mojo according to many internet reports due to all big studios starting their own streaming?

Let's hope this offer still there in three months as I just activated my free three month Apple TV, and I don't even have time for that! I admired those who can stream all day.

SubHub also offering three month free Master class, not a bad deal. I just wish Optus can spend more time fixing their customer services rather then doing all these gimmick.

  • +1

Where can we see if the credit has been applied to my account?

  • Does this work if you got Optus NBN and NO phone contract?

  • +1

this is awesome, 12 months free prime, now free $100

  • -6

    Gladys Berejablian @ Optus. I'm outta there…
    https://www.optus.com.au/about/media-centre/media-releases/2…

    • +1

Other people at other telcos. Who cares, go with the best deal if it suits you.

    • +1

What is your plan? Tesla starlink?

  • Booo not available for to Choice Plus customers :(

  • On Optus One plan here so I assume it's eligible?

Promo is showing on my SubHub page, already on Netflix thanks to my Turkish brothers but I'm thinking to activate a new Netflix account on a different email address and cancel to get the credit. If my maths are correct I should get $102 - $16.99 = $85.01 credit for the exercise?

    • +1

      That’s what I’ve done

      • So for existing turkish customers you are suggesting:

        • Create a new netflix account?
        • Connect optus to it?
        • Cancel after ??? days?
        • Get optus statement credit?
    • Not sure you need to, its also for existing customers so link to Subhub and then cancel after 1 month and get the full account credit

  • +1

anyone wonder Optus is testing their paytv streaming and in a few more months they will start advertising to be #1 for streaming.

I have no argument my home 5g with them is real good.

  • The deal doesn't seem available with my 7.50 data only plan?

    • +1

Nope, cause that's the "choice plus" plan which is excluded.

  • +1

Nop - it shows up without any promo ticker on top of Netflix icon for me, the same as one that I used free trial period.

So assume targeted for new subhub user? or least who didn't get Amazon prime 12m free.

  • Can’t seem to select the premium plan? I click the button and keeps on reverting to the standard plan.

  • There is a distinct lack of information regarding the "… months on us" offers. For example i'm already a paying amazon prime member. If I choose their "6 months on us" offer, as an existing paid prime member am i still eligible and what happens to the remainder of my annual payment.

    • You wait till your prime expires or forfeit the remaining balance. It basically puts you on a month by month plan and pays the monthly plan value so costs you nothing.
