It's usually 30k to 40k for platinum cards but better ask the bank.

  • just noticed that for Amplify Signature Frequent Flyer card the first year card fees for existing customer is reduced to $139.

    https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/frequent-f…

    Existing customer offer
90,000 bonus Qantas Points when you spend $6,000 or more on eligible purchases in the first 90 days from new card approval
A reduced first year card fee of $139 (saving $140)^^

  • Eligible purchases do not include interest, fees and charges, cash, or ATM cash advances, cash equivalent transactions, gambling transactions, a purchase from or payment to a local, state or federal government or government related agency, BPAY or similar transactions (such as Post Billpay), refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account.

So what do I spend 3k on?

  • Can someone confirm whether you can still get this deal if you have just come off a bonus points deal with Westpac? I know it doesn't call out Westpac by name but just want to make sure before I apply.

    Website says:
Existing customers who currently hold an Amplify, Amplify Platinum or Amplify Signature card issued by St.George, Bank of Melbourne or BankSA, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.

LOL, you want to put your trust to get the info from some random person on the Internet but not directly from the source? The T&C is your best info, else you can ring them up and confirm.

Note, the WP is a Altitude while StG is Amplify. Completely different rewards.

FWIW, last year, i've closed a WP CC and opened the StG CC within 3 months apart. Got all bonus points without problem.

    • +1

I can also confirm that I had no issues getting the bonus points for both cards while having both of them at the same time.

  • Does this card have a digital version in the app so you do not need the physical card to arrive to use the card?

    • I don't think StG have that - at least until last year when i was with them.

      • Thank you.

  • Hi all, for those who have already signed up, how long did it take for you to receive your Kayo offer part of the deal?

    • From the application page

      Step 1
Apply and be approved for a new Amplify Rewards Platinum credit card by 30th June 2022.
      Step 2
Activate a Kayo Basic or Premium subscription within 30 days of card approval and set up payment details using your new Amplify credit card.
      Step 3
After each subscription payment, you’ll receive $25 cashback as a statement credit on your card account for the first 12 months from card approval.

  • Is St George still auto-rejecting applicants that open an account with them purely for the reduced annual fee?

    • I wouldn't game it. Just open a transaction account and laying low for a week or two before apply for the CC.

    • +1

I have done that and transferred $400 into the account and waited for a week to apply and got approved today.

      • Just realised the customer number and security code for my bank of melbourne works with St George as well. So I'm guessing I would already have a profile with them.

        • Yes I am exactly the same. The new account I opened online with St. George showed up instantly under my BOM IB, but I was still asked to go to a branch for 100 ID for the credit card application.

          • @szy2k: That is very weird. Did you get the offer of no annual fee when applying for the offer through St George? Wonder if we qualify for the $40 cashback as well.

            • @nightelves: Yes, I applied via St George IB to make sure I won't get charged 1st year annual fee, I won't be qualified for the $40 bonus as I already had that when I applied my account with BOM. So if you haven't had the bonus with BOM then yes I believe you will get it with St. George.

  • Anyone know if Revolut transaction is treated as spend with St George?

  • Has anyone got their card arriving relatively late? I've been waiting for 2 weeks for mine to arrive

    • You need to call them and check, mine arrived in a few days.

      • Called them and they say it will come within 21 business days….

        • They told me the same but it is hard to believe any bank would take 21 days to send a card out nowadays. Guess you'll just need to wait patiently.

  • +1

There is also the option to redeem points for cash-back, but for a maximum of $457 for 83,125 points, leaving roughly 20k points leftover for another $100 gift card. Going off the comments above, this leaves you about $100 better than applying for solely gift cards.

    • Category > Gift Cards > Financial Services (very sneaky)

Can verify that the Kayo cashback is working on my account also.

    • Wait so this works out to be a better redemption? Also how fast does this cashback come in for Kayo?

      • Haven't got my points yet even though i've hit the spend and yes, i think this is the best way to redeem points.

    • +2

an update, you can also apply for a second $99 cashback for 18k points. That's $556 cashback from 101k points.

      • How do you know you can apply for a second rebate, did it work?

        • I was able to select Qty 2 for the 18,000points during checkout

    • I redeemed the points for cashback on 22/04 and still have not received the annual fee rebate, do you know how long this normally takes?

      • It says 10 business days. Mine took 5.
I hear they've removed it from their store? I can't access the store anymore, so I can't confirm. But maybe they are cracking down on it.

DougoMundo: Did the second $99 actually arrive? I suspect you can buy it, but it might not go through.

        • Thanks for the info. It still allowed me to redeem cashback the day I did it and I have also received a confirmation email, will wait for a couple of days then call.

        • Neither batches of cash-back have come through yet, but they sure took my points!

          • @DougoMundo: Called then and got the Cashback on the same day.

          • +1

@DougoMundo: 5th May update, all cashbacks redeemed on statement balance (incl. Both $99)

            • @DougoMundo: When did you apply for the cash backs? I applied a week ago and still haven't gotten them

              • @rollingthunder12: Update on this.. still haven't received it. Called up early last week and followed up again this week but still not processed.

                • @rollingthunder12: Mine has been over 10 business days too
                  Still not received

                • @rollingthunder12: Btw did you claim 2x $99 fee rebate in one order?
I did this and I think it may have flagged it as not valid because you’re only allowed to make one redemption per card per year

                  • @dorikin: I did 2 x $279 so yeah could be a reason why it's been frozen

                    • @rollingthunder12: I called them and the guy basically asked me how much my annual fee was and told me I should only be redeeming 1 rebate.
So he escalated to resolution team and said I will most likely get my points refunded.

I think if we just claim 1 of each amount it should get through automatically like others have experienced

                      • @dorikin: Interesting - keep us posted on how it goes!

                        • @rollingthunder12: Actually ended up receiving the rebate in my account today. However, only received one of each amount so I’m missing 1x $99 or 18k points

                          • @dorikin: Will you still receive the second $99 rebate or getting the points refunded?

                            • @Skykiwi: I tried calling them today to find out but they're only open mon-fri (Amplify rewards number)

so I'll wait til Mon/Tues to see if the points get refunded otherwise will have to call them again

                              • @dorikin: I still haven't received any credits. Will wait till Tuesday to give them a call to ask for it all to get refunded then will try one at a time lol

                              • @dorikin: How did you go?

                                • @Ash-Say: Called them again today, got questioned again about why I redeemed multiple rebates…
I asked for refund of my missing points
Put me on hold for 15 mins, then said it will be escalated to resolution team who will check with banking team about my missing rebate… :s
And to wait 2-5 days for an update

                                  • @dorikin: I also called them today and the operator escalated it. She didn't raise any objection about 2 X $279 redemptions though I confirmed whether she is raising case for both redemptions.

                                  • @dorikin: Still no bueno, have to call them again on Monday

        • Applied all on same day but only one $279 and one $99 came through.
Missing one $79 and $99… Not sure if those got flagged or still on the way.

        • Just received an email with the points refunded back for the flagged $79 and $99 rebate.

          • @Skykiwi: Same here. Points refunded today..

The real question is should we risk trying it again

        • Called again today. I've been calling weekly for the past month to follow up and the points had been refunded to me. Not going to bother applying for the annual points rebate again.

    • I was looking for a cashback option but followed yours above and redeemed 3 x annual fee rebates. I had assumed you could only do that for the card you have so thanks for the tip!

So just got an email saying Kayo have upped the cost of Kayo Basic to $27.50 whilst introducing Kayo One (one screen) for the $25. Does this mean St George will reimburse the $27.50 or are we now $2.50 out of pocket. The offer clearly states Kayo Basic, but also states $25 cashback.

    • Probably just the $25 :(

      • +2

I got Kayo cashback on my card for $27.50, so still free Kayo Basic :)

  • +1

Banked my $40 on the deposit account for becoming a new customer but the credit card application was too painful. Payslips weren't enough and they wanted 3 months of full unredacted bank statements to verify income ($6000 limit).
Cancelled the application and closed deposit account. $40 free but what a waste of time, going to skip St George in the future.

  • Does anyone know how soon will you get the points once you hit the spending target?

    • I'm not with St George, but with BankSA (owned by the same company, same promotion, same backend, etc), I got the points as soon as I hit the spend limit once the transactions cleared. I didn't have to wait for the end of a statement cycle or anything like that.

      • Great to hear, I would assume it should be the same as you said they are the same company, thanks.

        • Yeah it's pretty quick. I got mine within days IIRC.

  • +1

Anyone who took this card actually had their Kayo deductions refunded? Just got my first statement, have the $29 fee plus my kayo charge, and no refund for it.

Just rechecked the TCs and no hurdles or anything to receive this.

    • +1

Hmm also interested to know this. Otherwise will be cancelling before the month is out.

      • It says it will be paid within 30 days of statement (so after due date). Might “overpay” by $25 to there should always be the correct amount to pay off the statement going forward.. (if they actually repay it)

    • Have you got your Kayo Subscription Refunded yet?

      • i got my kayo basic refunded within one day, $25, labelled Cashback Kayo Sydney Au

  • Will the Bank of SA deal be better if I don't use Kayo at all?

Also, I have a Westpac CC at the moment - this won't affect it right?

    • BankSA deal is the exact same, minus the Kayo. So no better or worse if you don't use Kayo. A Westpac card doesn't affect your eligibility for the offer.

  • Sent them payslip and bank statements to verify loan repayments. It's been 3 days but didn't hear back.

    How long do they take?

  • $40 bonus for opening Complete Freedom account is back: https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/bank-accounts/transacti… . Deal lasts until 28th September 2022 .

  • Anyone getting cashback St George Amplify Credit card for purchases on Amazon? I think I am getting around 3% cashback on amazon for purchases on amazon and it's showing as "Ecommerce Cashback Off Sydney Au".

    • i have one of these "Ecommerce Cashback Off Sydney Au" cashbacks but no idea what it is for. i do have an amazon purchase before that. edit: the cashback is 3% of that purchase…!

      • Thanks for confirming. I think I got one for Ebay too. It stopped from this month (May), so I guess it was temporary. Now the issue I am facing is with Kayo Subscription Cashback. They haven't refunded me for Kayo yet and insisting that those "Ecommerce Cashback Off Sydney Au" are for Kayo which is clearly wrong. The lady on the phone was adamant that, that's how it works.Cause it says up to $27.50 in the T&C, meaning that I am not supposed to get the whole $25 or $27.50 in one go. So pissed with St George CS right now.

        • my $25 kayo cashback came in one day, and is labelled "Cashback Kayo Sydney Au"

          • @spa: One day as in the next day after you made the transaction ?

            • @Anonymous101: tbh i don't remember seeing it the next day, but if i look through my transactions it's marked as the next day after my transaction. guessing the transaction was pending for several days?

              • @spa: ok. Mine has been more than a month now but still no cash back.

Also just to confirm something; what does the actual transaction with Kayo says? Is it streamotion e.g.?

                "Streamotion Pty Ltd 612xxxxxxx Au"

One rep told I am not getting the cash back because it says Streamotion instead of Kayo. They are saying I subscribed for Kayo through 3rd party instead of going directly with Kayo.

                • @Anonymous101: yep that's what mine looks like, says "streamotion"

                  • @spa: Thanks mate. I have just lodged a complaint. Hopefully someone will fix this. Very disappointed with St George Customer service so far. From the application to this point it has been such a PIA.

                    • @Anonymous101: Hey any updates?

Mine's billed as streammotion and I haven't received cashback either

                      • @Djoker: I gave up on St George customer service and lodged a complain with the St George complaint team. Waiting for response on that.

                        • @Anonymous101: I ended up calling them that day, was on the phone for about an hour and went through three different teams, eventually talked to someone that put through the issue with the promotions team, told me it would be looked at by them and they'd get back to me.

Missed a call last week where the same person called me saying that the team still hadn't got to it. Checked my account today and two cashback had been put through yesterday.

Customer service was surprisingly good overall, apart from the wait time. First person didn't know the promotion but read it, looked at the charge and sided with me that there should have been a cashback. Last person I talked to did the same, checked the dates and agreed I was due the cashback, even followed up with me and said I could put in a complaint if I wanted.

  • Has anyone signed up for Kayo after the first 30 days and was still able to receive cashback?

    • +1

I'd warn against it, when following up my Kayo cashback they checked that I'd signed up in the first 30 days

  • Has anyone got the 100k points yet?

  • Applied, conditionally approved. Thanks OP and Ozbargain community.
