$6k min limit - So I would guesstimate $60k'ish p.a. based on other $6k min limit cards.

Edit: Lol its listed right under the min Credit Limit, my dumbass

      It’s listed on the website.

Can people read the links themselves before making comments like this?

gotta be desperate to do this one considering what you get for it.
virgin flyer 60k ($1500 spend each mth for 2 mths), 1st year annual fee, $74, + $129 flight voucher. No need to wait 12mths before re-applying.

    • +2

agreed. Even Nab is 60k points(1k spend in 60 days) with only $94 first year annual fee.

      • yeah I might do that one (again) and then another virgin flyer if I don't see any other good deals.

        • how much time to wait before re-applying virgin flyer? any success?

    • What is the wait period for that? I've been thinking cards were at least 12mo these days.

      • +2

there isn't one, many people have cancelled and reapplied at the same time to get more points. Some say to avoid getting rejected for other reasons to wait at least 6mths from opening. So open in Jan, Close in June (or before), re-open in June. But you may have no issue opening another sooner than that.

        • Good to know, thank you

          • +2

@j1nx: it's prob one of the best cards, because you can sell the $129 flight credit. and the annual fee is 74… so.

So you end up being paid a small amount to take the points ;)

            • @bohn: Oh is that flight voucher not name specific? I thought it would be credited to my account in my name.

              • @Smol Cat: it's credited to your travelbank which you can use for others no problem. You cannot transfer your travelbank to someone else, but can book on their behalf.

                • @bohn: Oh nice, I guess I'll figure out what that is once I apply for the voucher.

            • @bohn: May i know where do you see that we are also getting $129 flight credit?

        • Yeah but anecdotally I think if you're holding Citi branded credit card and apply for this Virgin flyer card, you get rejected automatically?

          • @firestint: Not in my experience, no
I have held both, numerous times

          • @firestint: Have Citi premier in hand 1 for the free 20k payall points/month which will tragically end in 2025.
My application for Virgin flyer was successful two months ago and I've gotten my 90k points already with this card in hand 2 (30k additional via promo).

Will cancel card in hand 2 after I find a flight to use the voucher on..

            • @Synticulous: Similar situation here, still have Citi Premier, I also have 1x ANZ Platinum. Last cancelled Virgin flyer in Apr. Thinking if I should cancel Citi Premier first before applying for Virgin flyer. Sounds like it worked for you but not for Ironic fear

            • @Synticulous: "free 20k payall points/month which will tragically end in 2025."

Is this just how far out you arranged Payalls or you've seen some info that Nab is ending it?

I have scheduled up to 2030.

          • @firestint: Ive only ever been rejected when i held a nab card and tried to open Virgin flyer card. Nab and citi both are to do with the virgin credit offerings so i figure that was why since they coild never give me a specific reason.

Had this card previously and got 1 other card to rotate to first before coming back to virgin again

    • What card is this? Link?

    • I did not know about this! Just the right time to reapply again.

    • Any other cards have no wait period ?

      • All cards from Citibank

    • I am ineligible for every other card atm, so for me it's pretty good.

    • +2

Not interested in using points for flights - can you redeem for gift cards? If so, what is 60k worth?

    • i closed down the virgin flyer card a month ago. are you saying i could re-apply today and if approved still get the points??

      • +1

yeah you could but of course they may look at a variety of factors. Like I mentioned in another post, I usually open 2 a year so I am not doing it too frequently, as once you get a rejection you can't re-apply too quickly.

I last opened one in March, so I might open another in Aug/Sep

Another shit deal - cmon give me some SERIOUS POINTAGE

  • Velocity points just become that little less attractive as they cancelled the Virgin services to Tokyo. You can now only book ANA flight which is much harder.

I was just thrown on an ANA flight to Sydney few weeks ago on my way back, no complain there when you pay virgin price but fly ANA. I was suspecting the issue was capacity related and niw prove I was right.

I do have to say they are charging almost full fare price but only budget air service, stingy as hell!!

    • Could be worse, could be Qantas. Flew them back from Tokyo the food, service and plane were all pretty mediocre. Flights with American and United a week before it were better…. which is saying something!

      • +2

I'll take a Qantas non-stop widebody over VA indirect-via-Cairns narrowbody anyday.

        • Both pretty average but yeah direct for sure.

I think that is exactly Virgin loose in this route. Jetstar is running the Japan route with rock bottom price and scoped up all the bean counters. Virgin don't want to be at that price level and yet don't have the resources to run a full price airline which is a joke by itself.

While we are on the topic of Qantas, their services is absolutely a joke, but then this apply to all major western line like BA, UA…. etc

I think the best to pick now is Singapore Airline, JAL, ANA, China Airline, Asiana and Korean air

Middle East, China (Including Cathy) and the other Asean carriers should be avoid at all cost for various security and safety reason.

          • @syswong: VA have a slot at HND to operate. If they didn't use it they'd lose it. I guess they tried to retain it and it failed.

  • Is the purchase protection insurance same as the one in legacy latitude Mastercard

  • What is 180,000 Q points worth in gift cards etc.?

    • +8

      35800 q reward points = $100 gift card

      180,000 q reward points = > $500 in gift cards

  • whats best card to churn with good returns? i have citi card where i did balance transfer. I had kogan, anz and amex recently. I do not travel by planes i usually get woolies gift cards from points.

    • +1

rwrds.com.au makes it easy to compare

  • can 180,000 Q Rewards® points be converted to some giftcard?

  • I misread the title and got baited by the promise of 180k Qantas points…

    • Yeah fat chance anyone provider is offering 180k Qantas for $129 AF.

I've signed up to this, and I have to say that BOQ has some terrible banking infrastructure. Setting up an online account was not possible - so I have to check my balance my phone banking (like the 90s…)

  • Don't sign up, you will regret :(

  • Has anyone here managed to setup their BOQ internet banking over the phone?
It literally says in the welcome e-mail that we can do it over the phone, but the helpdesk says that i have to go to branch.

They had no problem activating my cc, but can't set up my account. I can pay with the card, but i cannot pay or access the statement

    • This is the exact reason I instantly cancelled the card. Nearest branch is over an hour away.
