On sale is the new mid-range phone from POCO that's intended to be more premium than the new POCO M4 Pro. Available in Black or Blue with 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB options.

Edit: Post updated with new coupon and a lower price.

Featuring a 6.67" AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5, 6GB (or 8GB) RAM, 128GB (or 256GB) UFS 2.2 storage, NFC, 5G Connectivity, Dual SIM + Hybrid (SIM or MicroSD), MIUI 13 for POCO (Android 11), 5000mAh battery with 67W turbo charging, 108MP/8MP/2MP Rear Camera, 16MP Front Camera, IR Blaster, Fingerprint reader, 3.5mm audio and powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 695.

For reviews I recommend checking out Techtablets as it's compared against the new POCO M4 Pro budget phone. A summary is that the X4 Pro 5G offers a better 120Hz screen with 360Hz touch, faster charging by 30 minutes, better loudspeakers, 3.5mm audio and better ultrawide photos.

A big downside is that this phone does not offer Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix/Amazon HD. It's important to note that the gaming performance of the Snapdragon 695 and Helio G96 is nearly identical, though the SD695 performs better in AnTuTu benchmarks overall.

I think the Poco X series has always been midrange, not flagship. (F is flagships and M is budget)

    • -1

      You're right. I forgot the F3 existed.

    • What X for Xtreme budget or Xtreme midrange or Xtreme flagship phone lol?

      • its bajet range

  • +2

Good phone, but too bad the camera is terrible

    • Its a $400 phone. I would have a lower expectation at this price range.

    • Define terrible

      • If you compare it to the flagships of the likes of samsung or apple. Then yeah. But if you compare it to other phones in this budget. Its no great but its not terrible either.

    • Its main camera is better than the iPhone 13 for stills - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKuO3S-XHNU

  • comes to A$347 for me with store coupon and POCO34

    • Really? Those Select Coupons aren't valid on this.

You edited your comment as you said 3dz25 before.

          • @Clear: yea sorry i had copied the wrong one earlier. silly copy/paste error

            • @Jit0809: That code has only just been added it seems. Brings it down a bit more at least.

    • Code cannot be applied, "We do not recognize the code". I am getting this error. With the GLOBAL20 code it comes to $399

  • I get confused between all the stores on Ali. Last time it was POCO Official Store when the Poco F3 launched and I suspect that was Pocos official outlet on Ali

    • +1

Anyone can put Official in their name. Assume they're all resellers.

  • Is there anyway to remove the shipping cost

    • No.

    • +2

You can but then you will have to pay for tickets. After about 50 yrs of comparision it has been established its cheaper to pay the shipping costs.

  • Considering the lower tier processor, this may have some room to fall. This is the same phone as the Redmi Note 11 Pro, which is very comparable, if not on par with the Note 10 Pro. The deal itself is fine, but I with they'd gone with something with A78 cores; even if it wasn't the SD 778.

Edit: I feel like the Poco M4 Pro is a better value, even with the 12nm G96. Although you are giving up 5G and I can't find much info on the camera.

    MIUI

    spew

    • MIUI for POCO is different to the normal MIUI. Like the launcher for example is basically like stock Android.

      • -1

oh, I have a poco. UI is shit.

  • Does anyone know whether this is a Global version?

    • +1

POCO is designed for the global market, so yes.

      • Oh is it? Didn't know that, thanks Clear

        • Global or European ROM I'm guessing. Could be either.

  • +6

Still holding on my poco X3 NFC
I doubt there is overall much of a better experience

    • This.

    • Same. Epecially with the rom support, some amazing android 12 ROMs and official lineageos support. Don't see a need to upgrade yet. Maybe next gen.

      • i'm on arrow os based on google pixel os + gcam. works great.

        • Do you get OTA updates with Arrow OS or do you need to install them via your computer? Sorry if it's a silly question, I am new to this whole custom ROM business! :-)

    • Would actually be worse considering they've downgraded the processor

      • It's 732g vs 695.

Apparently 695 is better although the number is lower…

        • +1

695 is a newer cpu than the 732. A difference of a year.

          https://nanoreview.net/en/soc-compare/qualcomm-snapdragon-73…

In saying that. It is confusing the way they have been naming the cpu. You would think once you 7xx you just move to an even higher number to denote newer cpu.

Unless your a techie you would not have known that the 695 cpu is 1 year newer that the 732. And that the 695 is a 6 nanometre cpu as oppose to the 732 which is an 8 nanometre cpu.

          • @xoom: Naming is weird with Qualcomm, you have the 4 series entry level processors, 6 series is low/mid, 7 series is mid/ high, 8 series is top tier.
A newer generation could be better than an older gen higher tier processor like the SD780g is faster than the SD855.

            • +1

@aussieprepper: It happens with computer cpus and gpus. Nothing weird about it.

        • My mistake, I thought it was the 860, same as the X3 Pro

      • The 695 cpu is better than the 732 though.

    • Do you have any dramas with the stock dialer?

  • post purchase service from the poco store is cancer

  • Waiting for the day these budget to mid range phones have wireless charging too!

  • Love the classy fake lens with Ai written on it

  • Poco F3 on AliExpress almost the same price!

    • The 6GB/128GB variant on Ali wasn't a good price so I shared the 8GB/256GB variant as it is.

  • +1

Jeez, the big POCO branding and fake 'AI' camera lense is cringe.

The older X3 pro seems like a better buy. Cheaper, faster, and the Sony 48MP sensors work well with GCam. X4 Pro gets Samsung's paper tiger HM2 sensor and slower SoC. If you want OLED the Poco F3 or Moto Edge 20 Fusion on sale would be a better buy

    • The ai looking lens i dont think is even a lens. Its just there so the design looks ok.

4 dots as oppose to 3 dots look ok.

  • Loved my Poco X3 NFC - except now I cannot answer calls….the phone rings, dialer doesn't work, it goes from 4G to 3G to H, then the dialer works.

Anybody else had this issue? Stock dialer on the phone - other than this extreme flaw its been a great phone.

  • I wish the camera hump wasn't so big. I mean.. if the cameras are garbage anyway please just make it flush with the phone. I have the X3 as a second phone and thats my only gripe with it :(

    • use a case?

  • Code "POCO34" not working

    • Protip look under the price for coupons on the listing. There's a new one now.

  • So much wrong with these phones but while Poco make a half decent unit with a side mounted fingerprint scanner (prefer rear but that seems non existent) then I'm gonna stick with them.

I absolutely detest on screen fingerprint readers. I really wish they would just stop.
