Managed to get one thanks OP, wonder if someone made a big order? Hope not.

Looked decent for the price. Can anyone recommend one similar on AliExpress or elsewhere?

  • Hopefully comes back in stock, I'll definitely get one of these as a cheap spare.

  • Some points to consider:

    Good points:
USB C, there are still lights being sold with Mini USB or worse Micro USB, which is always a faff to plug in.
GoPro mount. One of the mounts included is a GoPro mount which will allow you to hang it upside down under your cycle computer if you have that out the front (like a K-Edge mount).
400 lumens. If this is true it will be enough for most road usage.

    Bad Points.
No side light windows. Good designs often have side windows to allow vehicles coming at you side on to see some light.
Tight beam? It seems the reflector is quite small, these often put out tight beams with harsh lines on edges (impossible to see from the pictures).
Recessed beam. This makes it hard to see if the light is working from the riding position. I've got a moon like this and the battery can go flat and you're riding with no light and you don't know. Being able to see a little of your light is a good thing.
No constant with a flash. Good lights will have a constant beam with a pulse. Good for inner city where you might need the light but you also want other users to see you.
Round reflector, no diffuser. Designs like this through the light up into other users eyes. Good designs throw the beam out in front of you across the road and not up into other users eyes.

So it looks OK, ish. I've got enough lights at the moment but any new lights will have all of the above features.

I should add, I've had Magicshines for many years and while they are a little bit more expensive they seem to be well made and well thought out.

    Something like this: https://www.magicshine.com.au/collections/front-bike-lights/…

    • Yeah I’ve got an ME-2000 in the post, but want to have a cheap backup (and $6 counts as cheap!)

  • Something like $60 ! Get lost

  • I've seen some friends use the Rockbros R1 400 or 800 lumens for about $30 on Ali, They're pretty good and throw out a tonne of light but they have a circular beam, but with good drop off from memory.
