Breville Thermocoil entry/mid level espresso machine … great for getting into making real coffee similar (or sometimes better) than what you'll get at a cafe. Seems to be a perennial special, its back on now, not sure for how long, I just ordered one online for my mum, stock in stores seems a bit patchy.

    Breville dual boiler

    lol

    • Yep, good deal - but as you say this is not a dual boiler.

      • Why is that?

        Edit, ok I see

  • Damn if only it has the grinder in it..
Waiting for a deal ($400 or less) on the sunbeam EM5300K

    • $437 @ TGG commercial. Ebay $429 Sunbeam Or can get separate cheap Sunbeam grinder EM0440 for $77 from TGGC

      • I got the separate grinder, it’s decent enough but has a quirk or two.
The integrated neatness appeals to me.
So close, maybe ebay plus will have a deal…

        • I have the grinder. The mess was doing my head in until I started weighing the dose into the little container that it comes with. No more mess and grinder works well enough.

          • @OhPee: If it’s the same as mine, the grinder is good with a nice consistency of fineness, but two quirks:
            1. The powder gets stuck in the out chute sometimes and needs a good bang.
            2. It overflows the porta filter a bit on the sides based on the distance on where the contact switch for the porta filter places it

Why would you want a built in grinder in a machine for this price?

I wouldn't buy a built in grinder unless you have not enough space. It's like a Trojan horse. If one part breaks, everything is broken. I'm on my third "The Infuser" and am happy that I have an external grinder. The last "repair shop" asked for $160 just to "look at it"… so I bought a new one instead.

Op this machine is the "Duo Temp Pro" - would help to put the complete name in title

  • Is this a good deal?

    • Yes, just the proper name of this model wasn't corrected until 5 hours after it was posted so maybe that's why not many upvotes.

This old post got 47 upvotes for the SS version & virtually the same price.

  • Really hoping for a good price on dynamic duo for boxing day.

  • Thanks OP

Went to one store that had stock on website (Eastland, VIC) but none in store, but had floor stock of the silver model which wasn't discounted.

Went to another store (Lillydale, VIC), which had floor stock of the silver model, discounted on the box, but scanned full price, and then fixed by the cashier to discounted price.

So I'm not sure if this only includes the black model or silver model that I managed to get.

    • From what I saw online the black model was discounted only and the silver was full price … so you did well to get the folks instore to give you the cheap price. I was trying to get one in Perth and not a single store had stock. I hope the coffee from the silver one tastes as good.

  • Deal is good.

Officeworks might price-beat offers by 5%. Not sure if they honour it when the offer colour is black and they sell silver.

Breville "The Infuser" can be had for $299 once or twice a year. It has a pressure gauge (in my view not very useful), and automatically stops extraction (useful). If you're not in a (coffee) rush I'd suggest wait for the Infuser over the Duo Temp.

    • Wow that is good. Giving me buyers remorse now :-). Thanks for the info and tips. I'm new-ish to ozbargain and didnt realise how much prices fluctuate over the year, I notice prices on appliances seem to float a fair bit month to month, even without a "special" price. Has this always been the case or is it worse now because of covid supply chain interruptions?
