I use smartfire with my kamado. A lot easier to manage temp and I can leave the home and monitor the bbq remotely.
Same here (albeit on my green egg). Bit of an effort to get going but once it’s up and running, it runs itself
excellent deal, and good for building up your biceps lifting the dome with the series 1 hinge ;)
I really wanted the series 2 but $1k more for basically an air hinge isn't worth it.

(though also get better gasket and d&c setup right?, though worse top vent… i have a series 2 in the classic size)Big Joe 1 has d&c. The wire gasket is an upgrade but the felt gasket seems fine and cheap to replace.
You also get a better seal.
