As if Harvery Normans Game sale wasnt enough, this one could be bigger!

Dick Smith are apparently getting out of the games market so they are selling off all stock.

    Congrats on the people who actually got some big ticket items. I forgot to add that none of the items at the Randwick store were actually marked as on sale, they still had their regular prices on them. People had printouts of the price list with them and some might've been checking their phones for the prices.

    Managed to grab the one and only copy of LA Noire for $5 from DSE Epping Vic store, and that was about it. Wanted to get a Logitech G13/G15/G19 keyboard but no stock.

    Girl infront of me got a display model white DSi, none left after. No other consoles on sale according to staff.

    got Monster Hunter for Wii with Controller for $15 pretty happy about that, they have a ton of G27 wheels there like 5-10 and they will not sell as they are at the back of the store out of the bargain area. They also had 1 xbox 360 hard drive for $50 it was at least 250gig but was not sure if it was worth it to buy and just sell on ebay.

    Had an XBox 360 MW3 bundle, decided I didn't want it as I hate Xbox and $300 wasn't even a great price compared to the other sale stuff so I set it down.

    Saw an obese guy fill a basket with roughly 100 games and tons of accessories and consoles. Selfish bastard.

    Left empty handed, pretty crap sale.

    Got to DSE Townsville at 8:40. Was suprised to see about 70 or so people in front of me. By the time 9:00 came around there was about another 50 behind me.

    However did manage to get the G19 for $40 (did stash it behind some other keyboards over the weekend) and the MW3 Turtlebeach PX3 for $40 and the PX21 for $30.

    Overall a good day shopping i guess.

      Yeah I was at DSE Townsville too - got some good stuff, but looked behind the centre counter thing and all the good things (G9x, G19 and a heap of the on sale xbox games) were behind the counter.

    i am in adelaide, i went to the dicksmith and the sales said
    only games on sale, hardwares, consoles won't be on sale untill 11/04

    one of the female staff was very rude, she grabbed a big box with games from the back and was piling up the games on the shelf and when i want to ask her if it's on sale
    she said "i don't work for dicksmith"

    Queen Street had no consoles whatsoever despite the fact that 1 minute before closing yesterday they had blue DSis in stock. I was first in line and miraculously they DSis had been sold.

    And to the people who think it is OK for staff to buy the items: THINK AGAIN. Would you think it is OK if I worked for a big bank and knew about what other company they plan to buy if I then bought their stock knowing that with the announcement of the sale I will make a fortune?

    Well, it's called insider trading and is very illegal. So why is it OK for paid staff to take first dips at sale items and then flog them off on Ebay? They are getting paid and get a discount anyway.

    Sorry, all the people staff are entitled to purchase are idiots for me. I, for one, think that a lot of people will not forget about this and Dick Smith will lose a lot of business. I definitely won't shop there again.

      Meh just treat it as a bit of fringe benefit for the DSE staffers for putting up with quite a 'challenging' role. Everyone needs to be rewarded one way or the other if that means hoarding sale items, bought them and flog it off eBay.

    I went to Tuggerah DSE and a mate went to Bateau bay. He went in yesterday and they had a couple of DSi's a Xbox 360 rugby pack and 2 FIFA PS3's but none of those were there when the stores opened.

    Got to Dick Smith Beenleigh around quarter to 9 with around 5 others. Casually stolled in and picked up 6 games for $55 total - very happy. Thanks Dick! One guy spotted a white demo DSi unit in the cabinet - well done sir!

    Greensborough DSE was shit. No consoles at all. None. The only cheap game cards they had on sale were the "old ones" which were all locked away in cabinets that needed a staff member to open. Surprise though, all the "new" game cards were out on the racks….

    All the games were shit too. And there weren't any Logitech Keyboards or Mouses..

    I did manage to get a Logitech G27 though. It had a price tag on it for $139, but when I took it to the counter the guy said it was a mistake and couldn't give it to me for that price. My mate with me caused a fuss, so after waiting in line for a while, the manager finally came out and said "Yep, we can do that for ya!"

    So I got a G27 for $139, pretty happy with that. Not sure if I want to keep it or sell it though..

    After going to 3 DSE this moring I mamaged to get approx 8 or so games. After speaking to the staff about the consoles they said they never had any to sell which was a lie as I saw a FIFA 12 PS3 consoles along with 3 DSi's there on Sunday. After I broke that news to him, he then replied we had none to sell to the public as the staff got them.

    I have not gave a positive or Negative rating on this deal but I have decided to give a positive for one reason onlu, I had fun this morning :) Felt like a little kid again :)

    OK, i was in fairfield store this morning, there were 50 in front, i tought im not gonna get anything as i was yesterday in the store and they had like only 20 xbox360 games, everyone rushed in and most had no idea whats on sale so most scrambled around grabing what they like in store. where the games were they just stood and looked at the retail prices not knowing if its on sake or not, i just went through the crowd: sorry please thank you ecscuse me etc. grabed what i was intrested and of to the counter LOL! i got dantes inferno, venquish, wolfenstein, halo 3 odst and lost planet 2 for $22 ^_^ very happy.

    Secondly, bought Fifa 11 PS3 for 5 bucks and G27 for 139 bucks at Tweed Heads DSE. Nothing of note otherwise for PS3, saw a lot of ppl clean out the cheap games for xBox.

    Okay, I have to neg this. The only game I was really interested in was LA Noire for PS3. Got to DSE Kippa-Ring and managed to get the only copy. Took it to the counter and was then told that only games that were marked with a sticker were discounted (this wasn't). I said that it was on the list, and the guy just laughed and said it wasn't an official list.

    So I went and put it back, but am now seeing that heaps of people bought it for $5 from other stores!

    Absolute massive waste of time! The FIFA 12 console was in "low stock" at Mt Gravatt and then just disappeared completely over the weekend. So I went to the Logan store where they had "in stock" and then there was only 2 there and they were empty boxes. I was shocked as to how poorly organised it was, they should have just asked people to line up straight at the register and order what they want rather than everyone running around mad grabbing random s#!t of the shelves. I asked the staff do they have a list of what is actually on sale since Dick Smith never actually produced a list apart from the leaked one. His response was to just grab games and ask him to price check… very effective. People were grabbing the normal PS3 consoles which were empty boxes and they weren’t on discount just because they didn't know better. Great ploy by the marketing team but this has left a very negative mark for me in regards to Dick Smith. Poor Form!

    I once went to K Mart for a cheap Bravia years ago and the store had 5. There was staff there that wanted one and the manager said they had to wait in line with everyone else, that's how it should be.

    Update from Launceston TAS store

    Got there at 8:30, only about 10 people in front. Got my brother to stand in line where he asked about consoles, particularly xbox 360 and ps3. Staff told him "They are all normal prices". 10 minutes later I overheard someone grab a xbox for $100. Got straight back in line and just missed out, they just sold the last 2.

    I managed to get my hands on the one and "only" XBOX360 4GIG for $100 (With Rugby 2011)at Dick Smith Galleria in Melbourne CBD.

    Note: There was "only one" available, and I was one of the first 10 people through the door. The sales guy had a "look out the back" for the stock and after a few minutes came out and said it was the "last one". His other sales mate did say "Not that one, leave that one" as he left the storage room, which makes me think they had more than 1 there but they shut the door before I could see what they had.

    Gotta give the guys at North Syd store some credit. They had taken everything off the shelf but they made everyone line up to the counters, you tell them what you want, they check on the computer to see if it's in stock then go out the back to get it. Only one copy per item allowed. Very orderly, very fair.

        Well they're only a small store anyway, so obviously no consoles left. Few guys at the front left with headsets and some hardware.
        Managed to get some decent $5 ps3 games and COD usb only $1!
