      • yep just sent an email to them. bullshit. we all got fakes. if you read the description they apostrophes are all wrong. eg, they,ve <— wtf ?

        • +1

Sorry andy, what do you mean?

        • +2

i meant if you read the description at the back.. eg 'Together, they,ve built headphones for the ultimate high…..' notice the 'they,ve' how the apostrophe is incorrect. They even have double spacing between a few words. Pretty much crappy fakes.

    • yeah totally fake …

my serial number declined as well

i am going to go to the ACCC if i am not given a full refund.

we were told these are real throughout this post by the rep.

      • just recieved an email stating that a return form would be sent to me within 24 hours and a reply paid stamp to be given so no postage fee will be paid.

        • +1

Are they going to give you a box to send it in?

        • +1

dont think so… i think we use the box they sent it in. and just stick a return thingo on it.

  • just received mine today. FAKES!!!!!!!
    And i was so excited.

  • Got mine today as well, definitely FAKE!!

  • Ooh, this is bad rep for dealfox…I always thought they did the right thing…what a shame :(

  • anyone got the return form yet or any refund at this stage?

  • +9

    Hey all,

I got a few PM's today after many of you received the goods in the past day. While I haven't been able to review the goods myself, it looks to be the case that these are indeed counterfeit going by what everyone is reporting. I just want to say on behalf of DealFox how sorry we are to all those affected by this. I'll have to speak with management on the situation at hand tomorrow and get a clearer picture. But its safe to assume

    • Everyone who purchased this will be contacted soon (if you haven't already contacted support
    • Full REFUNDS (Credit Card, Paypal, or Credits) will be given
    • Return of the headphones to Dealfox will be covered by us (usually a Return to Sender label for AAE/Australia Post)

Everyone here at DealFox absolutely HATES fakes and dodgy goods. It honestly is never our intention to ever to sell fake/counterfeit goods. It goes against our entire ethos, company profile and rep we are trying to build amongst the community. Again, very sorry to all for the inconvenience caused.

    Regards
    Jason, DealFox

      • +10

Sorry shraky, I don't agree with you at all. Our team doesn't give up like that. We've made a mistake and we'll do our best to handle it and soldier on.

        • -8

I'm not going to argue with you. Yes Dealfox will survive if our community can be fooled…but the chance is 0.

One thing for sure, from now on every post related to Dealfox will be voted negative.

We don't forget and we don't forgive.

        • Jason_dealfox.com.au on 29/03/2012 - 09:56

          Hi lextsy,

We made a mistake in the listing of our previous Beat earphones. There was confusion with what the 'Control' feature meant (there is a 'Universal versions vs iPhone version). Human error and we did refund when requested. There is no intention to mislead.

I believe our listing is accurate as we now have two people looking over product copy each time.

          Cheers, Jason

        • +7

Give us a full refund and let us keep the fakes. Not like you can sell them anyway. That would be illegal :)

        • +5

"no business in our community anymore"
"if our community can be fooled"

Fine sentiments from someone who has leeched for almost two years and never posted a deal…..

        • damian_dealfox…. on 28/03/2012 - 11:47

We are owned by an ASX Listed Company - Genuine Stock only - never have, never will sell fake or stolen items.

          Now you have…

        • +1

This is something we never wanted to happen and never again. I guess a more accurate statement is that we never INTEND to sell fake goods. There is absolutely no benefit to us or our customers at all.

        • +16

Even if Dealfox gives out refunds as part of their policy… give them a bit of slack guys.
I can pretty much almost say for certain Dealfox's "supplier" is going to eff off and run off with Dealfox's purchasing money.
The people affected by this deal will have their life reverted with the funds credited back and Dealfox will get stung.

          @Shraky
Mate you have no rights to speak on behalf of ozbargain's community… honestly

      • +2

As a means of compensation, I agree with giving us a full refund ASAP and to save us trouble, just let us keep the fakes. To be honest, it's not that I would use it, but it's just such a hassle to rebox it and sending it back and then wait weeks before we get our refund. I just want my refund ASAP so that I can go and buy another pair of something as soon as possible.

However, Jason, I do appreciate in Dealfox's attempt in rectifying the situation.

        • +4

It also comes down to how the supplier responds. More should be known in the morning when we clarify the situation with them. I can understand its very inconvenient to send it back so hopefully we'll find the best solution for all.

      • +5

        @shraky

Maybe speak for yourself and not for the community - that is happy to respond for themselves.

    • -7

DF I'm watching you and I know you are not contacting every victim. If you don't want this issue escalated you better start to do right thing now.

      • It is because we are still in discussions with the supplier and supply chain to confirm the claims. If you have an issue PM me your order number and contact information. As of today you have yet to do so.

        • -7

I'm watching you not only for myself. So until you take responsible actions for everyone you won't get out of it.

        • +7

Hi Shraky, please contact me personally any time since you seem to be the self-proclaimed voice of ozbargain.

        • -8

DF's priority is to worry about what you need to do to rectify… not what I need to do.

I'm not going to contact DF so I still can monitor your progress. I do this to help other innocent victims who haven't known they were cheated. Anyone got opinion…by any means.

DF has "waiting for supplier confirmation of fake" as excuse. Would it be everlasting? If I don't receive your contact within the following week I'll lodge formal complaints to: ACCC, Paypal, ASX and Channel 7. It'll be interesting to see how DF CEO to justify himself on "Today Tonight"

This is my very last ozbargain comment on this scandal as these correspondence are getting boring and annoying.

        • +10

This is my very last ozbargain comment on this scandal

          Thanks!!

  • -7

No wonder it feels so fake. Because IT IS!!!

So last time the CASIO watch I bought from Dealfox must be fake too as it gave me the same fake feeling.

    Asked full refund.

    • +3

I thought previous post is your very last comment lol.

    • -1

its getting difficult to neg all your posts man, stop it now!

  • +12

Seriously, they made an honest mistake..Dealfox has always brought good deals and I think this Headphone business will make them even more cautious and careful with suppliers than ever before.

Mate your company has no business in our community anymore… honestly

A community is one which gives and receives, I don't like to play the give/receive card but dealfox has given 33 more deals than you have. If anything, they are more part of the Ozbargain community than you are.

I'm sure dealfox will come back with a bigger and better deal than all their previous ones to make up for the negative publicity they have going on right now.

    • fair enough. a victim becomes target eventually.

my mistake. Dealfox still has business from this community as there is people rather believe it's an honest mistake

only Dealfox knows whether it's an honest mistake and no one will ever know if any comment giver is associated with Dealfox

      • +3

Hey shraky, the biggest thing from this is that we're going to LEARN from it. More product QC checks, better scrutiny of suppliers/partners, better processes for any service issues, etc. Do give me a buzz or PM any time if you want.

        • So when can we receive our full refund?

Oh i am so furious right now

      • +2

Just like we don't know if you are associated with a competitor. Checking my comment history will clear my case but probably not yours.

  • I have received my Return Authority form from Dealfox, thanks for responding so quickly, I hope the refund will be just as quick.

  • +1

Any word on the supplier yet? Just curious.

  • Hi all,

We're still working with the supplier now. It is our top priority.

They assure us that the stock is genuine and from a reputable distributor. The same stock lot has been on the market with other big retailers like COTD, DealsDirect, OO, etc and they state they haven't received any complaints yet. They are standing by their goods at this stage.

So as it stands, we're still working through all this to confirm their authenticity the suppliers and with assistance from customers. They have been neither confirmed to be fake or not fake just yet.

It would be of GREAT benefit if when contacting our support you write out your concerns with the product in as much detail as possible. Every detail will help us.

Of course, refunds are still open to all who have concerns and want to return them.

    Cheers,
    Jason

    • They assure us that the stock is genuine and from a reputable distributor.

You're about to get screwed by your supplier dude, is their location from Shenzhen?
Avoid Shenzhen suppliers, almost 99% guaranteed fake :|

      • +2

Actually, one of Australia's biggest distributors of electronics, not a yum-cha importer. Which is why this has got everyone by surprise.

        • Maybe stock was swapped during transit at the airport from the manufacturer. Damn baggage handlers strikes again. ;)

        • a couple of things to spot that the headphone is a fake:

          1. Serial number must be 10 alpha-numeric characters
            see: http://beatsbydre.com/verify/verifyserial.aspx

          2. i learnt that chinese suppliers cannot ship with duracell batteries in the packaging. This is actually a mechanism between dr dre and duracell to stop counterfeit. If there is no battery in the packaging, alarms start ringing. (i might be wrong on this)

        • I changed the title for clarity but in hindsight, it doesn't sound clear at all. OK, I've just changed to counterfeit.

    • -2

      Below quote from Monster website:

      "List of Unauthorized Sellers
      Consumers Beware!
Purchasing products from unauthorized sellers may result in you receiving counterfeit or fake products. These products have not been manufactured by Monster nor do they meet Monster's exacting standards for quality and performance. We have experienced countless occasions where our customers thought they were buying genuine products from these websites, only to find out that what they bought was in fact fake."

COTD/DealsDirect/OO are all on the list. And Dealfox will be on the list soon…

      • +8

You really hate DF don't you, because of one mistake…

      • .

      • The link. Wow, interesting to see some legit sites on there.

EDIT: Crazysales.com.au, estore.com.au also on the list

      • Even "Amazon.com (Marketplace Only)"?

        Edit: Even oo.com.au.

        • "They assure us that the stock is genuine and from a reputable distributor. The same stock lot has been on the market with other big retailers like COTD, DealsDirect, OO, etc"

As Dealfox has the same supplier as COTD, DealsDirect and OO, this just confirm that the stock received are counterfeit.

        • even oo.com.au, they were alwasy dodgy ….

        • -1

Note that they say "may result in you receiving counterfeit or fake products."

may, not will. It's just another way to create an air of FUD so people will pay full price at an official dealer.

The same tactic is used by Australian distributors when it comes to grey imports. Your batteries may be fake, the charger isn't safe (even though it's the same charger, just with a different cable), etc etc. It's just a way to generate FUD in the minds of less-informed customers to make more money for the official distributors.

      • +1

I think the list is Unauthorized (grey importers) but not necessary 'counterfeit' even though it is their 'Counterfeit Awareness Centre'. That is my interpretation of it.

  • anyone received the form or refund yet

    • I sent mine back yesterday. You're going to have to create a support ticket on their website so that they can arrange the return authority form.

      • did you create a returns ticket or support ticket?

i created a returns ticket 2 days ago while the support ticket today. No response till today.

        • I created a support ticket entitled Counterfeit goods or something like that.

        • PM your order number and details and I'll followup.

    • I sent back mine yesterday as well. I just clicked on the "contact us" section on their website and put in my order #.

  • I just received my return authority form. Just to confirm, when it says credit, it means real cash right?

not store credit or anything like that

  • +1

Called the customer support line and they said they'll email me with the details. i still havnt received anything. Is it just me that haven't been contacted yet?? If anyone could help that'd be great.

  • I asked my friend who bought Beats by Dre Studio from Bestbuy in US. His serial number inside the battery cover is 7 digits long. Another code (inside left ear cup, on headband) is 10 digits long. The one I got from DealFox does not have a 10-digit serial code on the inside side of the headband.

    • That's interesting. The supplier is also saying serial number does not have to be 10 digits and some instore retailers have 7 and 9 digits. Still going up the chain to get confirmation of them.

      • Genuine headphones contain two serial numbers. One on the box that's 10 digits (which is used to register the product on the official site) and one behind the battery cover that's 7 digits.

      • +3

There's a spell mistake on the back of the box: http://s2.ipicture.ru/uploads/20120407/97nSSvfe.jpg.

        • +4

There's also a mistake on the third last line "today,s"

  • +2

Apart from spicious serial numbers, the quality of the headphones are very different from other beats studios i have tried. Based on the poor quality we should still be entitled to our money back.

    • +2

Thanks mate, thats the feedback we need. Poor quality as in the plastics, construction, etc?

      • +3

The left ear speaker was softer than the right on mine.
The sound didn't leak. Genuine headphones do lol.
The switch to turn on the headphones was a bit hard to move.
The carry case was all scratched and had dirt on it like it was dropped on the floor.
The plastic covering the box should have an oval shape on the top so retailers can hang it on stuff…
No batts and 10 digit serial to register.

That's all I can think of right now.

        • Listening to music is horrible. The vocal quality is very distorted. I have tried it with flac files just in case and still the same distortion. Also sound leaks on mine so much that if my girlfriend had it on listening to something i could hear it as mich as having it connected to a pair of cheap computer speakers.
Now i still have not heard anything from dealfox customer support, can you help me get a refund Jason?

  • +5

Ok to be blunt, it's obvious they're fake. DF should quickly refund everyone's money and then take it up on the supplier etc in their own time. I don't see why everyone has to wait until the supplier is contacted first to "confirm" if they're fake :s

    • +3

In the mean time we are processing all refunds for those who request. We can't broadcast a message to others until its 100% confirmed and that's been slower then we hoped due to Easter holidays. Hope you can understand.

  • +1

Now that the Easter longweekend is over, is there an update on how the refund is coming along? Anyone received theirs yet?

    • I haven't received mine yet even though they said it would be processed today. They received my headphones on Thursday morning.

      • Did you call them to check whether they received your headphones? I sent mine back with their supplied replied paid label through Australia Post, so don't know how to track it… Thanks!

        • On the replied label should be a tracking number. Go to the AAE website and it should show if it's been delivered.

        • Thanks for that Dan,

I read through my label about 10 times, definitely no tracking number. It is just simply says

          Deliver to:
Cellnet Online Pty Ltd T/A Deal Fox
Reply Paid 83307, 59-61 Qantas Dr
          Brisbane Airport QLD 4008

with my 6 digit RA number which is not a AAE tracking number (tried it).

Might depend on our location, different shipping methods might be used… I am from Sydney btw.

          Thanks anyhow…

        • I live in Syd too. They arranged a courier to pick it up from my place. I thought they did that for everyone lol

  • I placed my return ticket on the 3/04/12, and now the status is now closed. No reply, no messages, no labels in the mail. Is anyone else in the same situation?

  • I'm back at work tomorrow to check the status of things. Returns/Refunds might be a tad slower due to the number we have to process so apologies in advance. 1300 Deal Fox if you want to get quick answers/status updates.

    • Hi Jason could you please look into my order, "[#YMC-56605] counterfeit monster beats studio". The status is currently closed. They didn't message me about the status.
      Thank you

      • Hi there, do you have an RA number (just numerical). That number doesn't look familiar to me.

        • Hi Jason,

I went to the my account tab and clicked on the help desk option.
I submitted a ticked to the 'dealfox returns department', all that was issued was the ID number which was #YMC-56605 and the order number '#100011382'.

        • +1

Hey mate, best to give the '1300 Deal Fox' number a call to get status. The order number should be all thats needed for them to check status.

          Cheers, Jason

  • I just want to update you guys that I got my refund from Dealfox just now :). Lucky me I guess.

    • Also just received my refund.

Kudos to Dealfox for handling the situation so well. Despite the incident, this experience has given me confidence to deal with Dealfox again in the future.

      • +1

Good to know…else they really would be known as StealFox :P

  • I sent the box back on tuesday with Australia Post. Is there anyway i can check the status?

    Thanks

    • If you have RA number please call 1300 Deal Fox. If it's Auspost though not sure if you can track the actual shipping status.

  • Anyone know what the "Deal Fox Points" are used for? Under the "My Points and Rewards" tab, I can see that we are given a bonus 500 points for the misleading headphones, but I can't seem to find any way at all for using these "points"…

    • +1

These points can be used on any future order. Basically equates to $5 in credit.

  • Have the suppliers moved on?
    http://www.1-day.com.au/onsale/monster/p/

    • Quite a bit more expensive there, probably legit.

      • +2

No they "probably" aren't. Look like it or not these are very hot products around the world, why would any official supplier be drastically reducing wholesale pricing to some twobit website? Also Monster has very strict control over it's supply chain, it's its not coming from an official supplier there is no way they have been sourced from an legit factory. It really is that simple.

  • +4

Seriously people I tried to warn you these would be fake! But no you wouldn't listen and voted me down. As for the seller not knowing they were fake, come on!

Where's your supplier from? DHGate? Taobao? You might have been told they were authentic but deep down you would have know if they are not coming from an official supplier they are most likely fake. You took the risk your customers wouldn't be able to tell, but there are many tutorials out there on how to detect fakes of these, so now the credibility of your entire business is under question. Good work.

What about your past products? Has this supplier been used before? Or are all your other supliers just as dodgy anyway. I highly recommend people who have made other purchases with this company check their products very carefully and report and possible fakes to the ACCC.

There is no place in Australia for these types of companies.

    • +2

You were lucky. Good deals like that aren't unusual on OZB at all. Occassionally they turn out to be duds, but most of the time they're fine.

From the return label, their supplier is Cellnet, who are a pretty large company. That is probably why they were certain it was genuine.

As you say, there are many tutorials out there on how to detect fakes. Do you really think you are the only one around who is aware of that? Of course customers are going to check. Companies that want to scam people will not do it from an established account on a popular forum that allows people to post comments and feedback.

DF have absolutely nothing to gain by knowingly selling fakes. They've posted a large number of deals and have a reputation to keep. Have you ever made a mistake in your life?

The most surprising thing out of this is that Cellnet supplies fakes. I wouldn't have guessed that since they're such a large company.

No I didn't buy one, not a fan of headphones in general. Or the beats image.

      • +5

FYI Cellnet is our parent company, not the supplier of these headphones.

And while we appreciate all input, I won't respond to PainToad since there is no point with people who make false assumptions and already have a set mindset about particular people/companies.
