so they have the MRRP price of $499… their 50% off is $299… shouldn't it be $249.50? lol

  • Isn't 50% off, and past beats deals usually get raped here. See how this one goes down with the locals.

EDIT: just noticed you changed to $249..now that's a pretty good price for beats headphones.

  • Sorry my bad, changed to 40% off. :)

  • Good price.

  • +3

    And just as a comparo

$499 from JB Hi-fi and Apple Store
    $349 + shipping from Catch
$299 + shipping from overseas from Kogan
$299 + shipping from BH and Amazon USA.

I guess people will love em or hate them still. At full price I'm a hater, at this price I'm getting one myself. Now I can realise my dream of being a hipster…

        Hahahhahah wtf headthongs LOL

      • +30

I will do everything in my power to get these headthongs onto Dealfox.

        • how do I place a pre-order.

        • OMG yes, I tried importing them from the US, but the new headthongs aren't as good as the used ones and australian customs had a problem with me importing used ones.

Could you get the limited edition used headthongs as well.

      • +1

Nah theyre not hipster, LMFAO have them in their video clips = theyre good headphones. PLease buy them because everyone else has them.

  • +16

Lol I'm sure these are great headphones…but the amount of douches I see wearing it around their neck as a fashion accessory trying to look cool puts me off

    • +30

They are in fact terrible headphones with a sub standard audio quality, yet combined with a fantastic marketing machine, they are making massive in roads for the average punter market.

Headphone sales will explode as a result of this Beats driven explosion, as people actually get into the whole high end headphone ownership thing and once these "plastic fisher price my first cans" break. People will discover the delights or portable amplification and the multitude of awesome manufacturers making headphones with sounds levels which will blow thy MIND!!!

" And I still got Love for the Streets "

      • +20

Dealfox didn't produce the product they are just selling the product at the best price around.

        • +3

hello yes I agree I didn't mean to rip on Dealfox just the product sorry i that was unclear.

      • +12

'Terrible' and 'sub standard' seem a bit of an exaggeration. The reviews on the net seem mostly positive with he one common negative being the price. Hopefully at 50% off we've helped make them a tad more appealing.

        • +7

If you just spent $300 on some headphones…I'm pretty sure you'd net giving them good reviews just so you don't feel like a jackass!

        • +2

          Hi

they are indeed my opinions, and it is infact a wonderful bargain when we consider the RRP and the price you offer.

Give them a rip and then try a pair of Beyerdynamic DT250's an arguably mid range Beyer product versus the Fo Shizzle my Olive Oil Drizzle top end Gangsta Studio Cans by DRE, then we can dismiss internet reviews as we'll both know the difference between a "Studio" Headphone and a mass marketed childs toy.

But again this is a truely fantastic bargain when we look at the figures, I'm just saying there are better headsets to be had.

        • +2

But again this is a truely fantastic bargain when we look at the figures, I'm just saying there are better headsets to be had.

You should therefore be giving this a positive vote….. or at the very least a neutral vote.
Negging a "truely fantastic bargain" would not seem to be in the spirit of ozbargain.

Negging a deal whilst imparting personal opinions about alternatives, will make it more likely that your useful information will not be seen by most ozbargain members.

        • +1

          @ Emmet

There are indeed better headphones to be had if we restrict our considerations to sound quality. However, for many consumers, whilst better sound quality may be desired, there are also other factors including, but not restricted to, aesthetics, comfort (clamping force, weight, circumaural vs. supra-aural, stuffiness), portability (DT250 coiled cable?! How much is it again for the straight cable?) etc.

Headphones, by virtue of their function, are judged primarily on their sound quality, but it would be unfair to disregard other aspects of their design. I think many people would settle for adequate sound quality out of a headphone, but they also have to maintain a certain image.

Oh, and I have never understood the market for portable amplification. Most portable headphones do not need additional amplification. Perhaps it is just my particular lifestyle, but I have never had a chance to sit down somewhere quiet aside from my home to listen to music. More often than not, I listen on the go on the train or bus, where it is too noisy to fully appreciate difference to the sound an amp makes.

One might even argue the same argument that you are making now. For the difference they make, are portable amps worth what they cost? If you are going to argue value for money, it would be best to leave out that line about portable amps.

        • +1

Sorry jason, as a salesman youre gonna sugar coat ice to an eskimo as 'useful when melted'. Even for $250 there are alot better headphones for your money. Dont worry you still sell alot since image is everything to teens, just food for thought.

      • +13

Some people could say the same thing about apple products, but that doesn't mean the seller/op deserves a neg for selling it at a good price.

        • +1

For their laptops/pc's yes, for their ipod, no. the ipod revolutionised the mp3 player, and they are reaping the rewards with a net worth of 65bn, biggest company in the world.

      • +4

well said, i'd totally buy a pair of m50s over these, save the money and get better sound whilst having a nice looking headset

        • got a pair, definitely agree

      • +9

        Well said, rubbish headphones.
I believe Ozbargain is about being led to quality products at a discounted prices.
Not rubbish products which have an overpriced rrp.
It's not a bargain if the quality of product isn't reflective of the purchase price.

If you want a quality headphone, look elsewhere.

      • +1

Just because they are not the best headphones available that doesn't make this a bad deal. The deal is about the price being amongst the best available.

      • +9

"plastic fisher price my first cans"
        Love it :)

  • +47

Ok guys, we made a mistake in our email and accidental wrote 50% off :(

Hence, we have decided to reduce these to $249 DELIVERED.

STRICTLY ONE PER PERSON only please. Anyone that ordered at $299 gets a $50 refund. Enjoy it while they last people!

    • +1

      Err…my neg…accident.

Touch screen phone and fat fingers, nuff said.

    • Well, I have no interest in the product (I prefer more subdued products generally ; D ).

I must say good price and absolutely excellent service from both of you, so you get a positive for the deal, and if I could give you another one for the service I would, but you will just have to settle for positives to your comments ; D

  • +27

Our bad guys, we said 50% off and we will honor that. Bringing the price down to $249 - get in quick- stock will definitely go fast. Limit to one per person.

Not a product I want, but it's nice to see a store respond in such a fashion, and in many ways, it's a welcome change to what I've seen happen in some cases.

Seriously consider buying one. Can anyone quickly tell me any better ones for the same price?

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/65871
Sennheiser HD25 Originals, Phonak PFE012 & Hippo Pipe pack with free express shipping @ $299. OzB says expired, but the deal is still active, just bought the PFE022 set 20 minutes ago.

    • i would recommend a Bose QC15. I just bought one and it is awesome.

Here in oz you can get it for RRP $400.
a rep at Myers Melbourne CBD offered me a price of $370.

If you can get it from the USA. $310-319 depending on conversion rates and tax.

    • +3

AT-M50 or AT-A700 would be my recommendation. Sennheiser has been going downhill of late (and overpriced as well generally). Bose has never really been any good (in regards to bang for buck that is…).

      http://headphones.com.au/psingle?productID=159
      http://headphones.com.au/psingle?productID=319

      • Isn't Sennheiser been overpriced because of JB Hi-Price + Hardly Normal jacking up the price because there was no Australian Sennheiser distributor before? (Now its Syntec which they're probably making a killing off being the sole distributor)

  • If i didn't own a pair i would of jumped on this deal. I enjoy my pair of beats. I KNOW there are better headphones out there they sound good and look good to my preference however, i will never wear it out in public like the douchebags i see at my gym.

    • +2

Why should you feel persecuted for wearing a pair of headphones you spent good money on? I don't think they look that obnoxious and if someone wants to wear 'em, be it in the streets or in the gym, go for it..

Whether or not they are good value for money is a separate issue altogether. Though at $249, I think they're one of the better ones you can pick up.

  • +1

dont like the product but good price

  • +4

Don't really want them, but respect for reducing the price when you guys made a mistake.

  • +4

I'm not going to buy these since I'm interested in some Audio-Technica ATH-M50s, but will vote +ve simply because of the good customer service from DealFox.

    • get the audio technicas!

  • +5

Monster as in teh company which makes those overpriced HDMI cables?

    • +7

      Yes it is

  • +18

the awkward moment when my friend found the counterfeits actually sound better than the genuine products at 1/4 of the price…

    • -6

the awkward moment when that didn't actually happen.
Can't sound better than the Original Beats unless someone transplanted M50 drivers into the Beats body.

You are saying your friend bought the fake Beats for $60. Bullshit, even DX sells them for $80.

  • +6

i suppose you can polish a turd. Good price though

  • +11

Ok so everyones going on how good or bad these headphones are… I've actually purchase a genuine pair of these from Harvey Norman awhile got for $400 on price match, so this is what I think of the product:

    1) Looks great and build quality isn't too bad - but I do refuse to wear these headphones out of the house to avoid looking like a douche on the street - i'll just stick to being a douche at home in my own privacy lol
    2) The sound quality is very good quality - Deep bass and little distortion when the music is turned up high. They are great for music but in terms of listening to podcasts and lectures (if your a student), then the bass can be a bit overbearing and sometimes hard to make out what people are saying (depending on the quality of the audio).
    3) HOWEVER - the headphones do have sound leakage which is probably the biggest flaw for this product - basically, people from the outside can actually hear your music even if you turn is on medium to low level volume… It likes wearing speakers on your head. It's another reason why I don't wear it out on the streets lol
    4) ALSO - its comfortable at first but over a long period of using it (i.e. 1 hour or so), the soft cushion around on the headphone don't feel like they support anymore and so your ear is pushed against the plastics and you get a bit sore. Might just be a common thing for most headphones though…

Conclusion: for $499 definitely not worth buying but for $249, it think it is. Hope that helps

    • +5

but I do refuse to wear these headphones out of the house to avoid looking like a douche on the street - i'll just stick to being a douche at home in my own privacy lol

      LOL

    • sound leakage…
are these meant to be open headphones lol?

IF these terrible excuses for headphones are meant to be closed… then…. dear god.. this product is worse than what I originally believed them to be lol

    • +1

The sound quality is very good quality - Deep bass and little distortion when the music is turned up high. They are great for music but in terms of listening to podcasts and lectures

Listening to a lot of music that has quite a lot of instrumental.. you'll find it sounds quite funny especially with a bass piano, bass violin and a bass flute :p

      • Most instruments should be mid to high frequency, I'll prefer a flat sound or cold sound if I like music with a lot of instrumental.

And I wonder why people like listening to high bass, whole song turns to bass, other parts of the music are covered by bass, can they really enjoy the music? For pop music, it is also hard to find a band having the bass up front. XD

  • -8

good discount but CRAP headphones. I got the V moda V80 headphones (on ear) and the quality is up there with $400-600 range. I got them for $240. Trust me if you want to join the masses and order these, you obviously have no audio experience. Alternativley, german branded headphones, also in the $200-500 range, make these Dr Dre toys, sounds like phone earphones.

Important thing to test for is sound range highs and lows, and ensure there is no bluring of sounds…. these do a crap job…so i have to Neg becaus they are still not worth the money…maybe if they were under $50, i would consider them as a second spare pair.

    • +6

Not a valid neg, this is the best price for this particular set of headphones. You may not like them, but thats irrelevant. Also consider people might be getting these as gift for non audiophile friends/family members.

    • +1

Sorry, but your post would be more useful if you were more specific…

e.g. Did you compare the V-80 to $400-$600 Beats?
Which German branded headphones? Are all German branded headphones good? Are you talking about Sennheiser? Ultrasone? Beyerdynamic?
More importantly, is there a specific model that you have listened to and you would recommend?

Your post is awfully vague for someone who sounds like they are trying to give an authoritative opinion…

  • nice price buddy. dealfox is ON FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRE

  • +4

Would love a sweet deal on some Westones, AKGs, Sennheisers or Audio Technica :D

    • I got my Audio Technica A900X cans from Amazon.co.jp for $175Aus . I have a friend in Japan who brought them back for me .

      • Impossibru! >_<
        Great price!

    • +5

All'rites I'll have a look at these brands. Will likely be parallel imports but I think everyone is cool with that considering it's so much cheaper to get them that way.

      • In terms of parallel imports -> they're all Made in China anyway, I don't get what the fuss is about. :D

      • Audio Technica M50..I think you'll be sold out in minutes.

        If(Price < $150)
        Deal = Bargain;
        StockBefore = X;
        StockAfter = 0;

  • +11

I guess these are a bit like those Ed Hardy $400 shirts. Chuck on a shiny coating, a few diamonties, and convince people the RRP is justified because they'll pull chicks……. Profit

Props to the rep for making the price more reasonable. But unless your favourite album is "2012 top 40 sine waves 400hz and below" then you really would be better off just buying a new set of paddings for your current headphones if you want something new.

    • Nice, bravo ! down with Dre!

      • sorry man, but that is the most pointless neg. you don't like the product? fair enough. What you are doing is about as valid as me negging every IOS free game that comes out because I don't like Apple.

        • +1

I see no reasonable analogy there. Their beef is with the item itself. Inflated RRPs on inferior quality products have never gone down well here on OzBargain. Cudos to those steering people away from such items! At least take the time to read the related comments.

        • +5

you mean paying more for an item because it is a hipster item, instead of because it is significantly better?

kind of like paying $2000 for a macbook that is slower than a $1200 windows notebook?
          or
kind of like paying $900 for an ipad that has the same specs as a $500 android tablet?

I personall don't like beats by dre and wouldn't be caught dead wearing them, but this is the best deal I have seen on them in a long time. if you can find them cheaper, then please, go ahead and post it.

negging should never be based on whether you personally like the product or not. read the rules on voting.

        • -8

Okay, so I have 200 week old Cheese Burgers here that I'm happy to sell for 10 cents, a MASSIVE discount from the original RRP. Fantastic bargain! I wonder if that would get many neg votes?

P.S. I won't be listing these burgers as McDonalds promotions are banned, I've read the rules. Plus, shipping would be a bitch!

        • +4

er…yeah Forgot69, talk about unreasonable analogies. At least modokun's was rational.

      • +2

Hah as much as I wouldn't buy them, the deal itself is very good. I gave it a + because the rep has done well when stores I've been to are making an extra $250 out of these things.

  • +5

    damian_dealfox,

you'd have more sales if you added this link to the OP.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FhEKAzSprE

    LOL

    • that brunette…oh yeah I'd totally buy those beats.

  • Postive vote for good price and amazing service, but holding out for a deal on ath-m50s.

  • +1

Wonder what the markup on these things is if the price can be reduced by 50%

Anyways.. I think they sound great - however I wouldnt buy a pair as they seem to be more of a fashion item, and given that, there will be a day when one wearing this in public will just end up looking like a tool.

ps. that day has already passed.

  • Insight on how you manage to sell it at such a price?

  • +4

Beats are okay headphones, but note that you do pay for the 'branding' and there are many many other headphones which produce way better quality of sound & value for money.
Not downvoting the deal itself, just letting some of you know not to get sucked in to the 'Beats' craze.
All you have to do is visit any audiophile forum & mention beat's to get downvoted to oblivion. It's like this for a reason.

    • +1

Not downvoting the deal itself, just letting some of you know not to get sucked in

I assume you know that neg voting posts will make them disappear from view of most ozbargain users, so by adding your neg, you are assisting in letting nobody know anything…..

      • +1

not downvoting the deal itself…just downvoting the deal they posted…. 0.o

    • +7

lol audiophile forums. Many people who post at head-fi regarding lower end headphones have only had one headphone and therefore no point of reference against which to judge other headphones. These people then recommend the one headphone they have ever tried, and repeat opinions made by others without having heard the headphones in question for themselves. It's a never ending game of Chinese whispers.

It is also a standing tradition amongst audiophiles to scoff at Beats because they feel superior, thinking that they know more about audio than other people on the street. Yes, Beats are expensive for the sound they offer, and if sound quality is top priority, then there are better headphones for the same price. These "entry-level audiophiles" also dislike the fact that Beats are popular, while their chosen headphones that produce superior sound are little-known. Some might even be asked why they don't buy Beats instead.

All in all, these "entry-level audiophiles" have good reason to dislike Beats, but their dislike of Beats' marketing success often lead to exaggeratedly bad reviews for Beats products. You could almost blame other audio companies for the success of Beats; it is their lack of advertising and having jack-all idea about what the public want that has resulted in the situation today.

      • People on forums care about bang-for-buck. It's like Bose and Apple who market themselves as an brand image. They may produce good devices, but many people buy them just for the look-at-me wank factor.

I haven't heard them myself, but I've heard Bose equipment so I assume Beats are in the same boat - decent sound, but rather overpriced. That's usually what forum people bitch about - a $500 Beats headphone might sound just like a $250 less-well-known-brand headphone, so people "in-the-know" laugh at those who don't do research and end up spending double to get the same thing. Assuming they didn't buy them for wanky purposes, of course.

In any case, from what I imagine $250 sounds like a good price for these, assuming you listen to the kind of music they're tailored for. That's usually about the minimum you'd have to spend to get a good pair of headphones.

        • +1

That was until the M50 got the RRP slashed and now cost $150. They are the headphones you are looking for as an ozbargainer/bass-head

        • +2

Yes, the likelihood is that if you're on a forum concerned with headphones, sound quality is already higher on your list of priorities than most other people. Sure, Bose and Beats are purchased for their brand and the associations they imply, and for that reason are overpriced for the sound quality they offer.

However, what I've never understood is why people judge others on how they make their decisions. Apparently, if you wear Beats, you will

look like a fool who knows nothing about sound quality. (R.R.P, on page 2)

The above is a stereotype enforced by those "in-the-know", who get off on their superior knowledge about headphones. I've found that they like to pontificate to the masses (in this case, the general OzBargain community) and make you feel bad for wearing Beats. They are prejudiced and don't care why you chose them, or that they may have been a gift. If they see you on the streets with them, YOU'RE AN IDIOT to them.

There are threads, on certain forums, where members post about various headphones they have seen on the streets. They are guilty of the same "look-at-me" wank factor, except they seek to appeal to others "in-the-know", secretly taking pleasure in "knowing" more about sound quality than Beats-users.

These people need to understand that while sound quality might be the top priority for them, it isn't for many others, and to judge others on principle is simply stupid. By all means, let them know that there are better sounding headphones out there, but there is simply no need to make people feel stupid. The question is, why are people so offended by others wearing Beats that they need to declare to the world that they know better?

        • +2

Why? I reckon it's because Monster has marketed them as a status symbol - just look at the price and stand-out color and design.

So in essence, some of those people are screaming "Look at me, I have these big white very-obvious headphones that all the cool singers use, so I'm cool too."

It's similar to driving a riced-up car with spinning mags. A lot of people would look at you and wiggle their little finger even if someone gave it to you or you just like how it looks.

And oh, having the Monster brand on it definitely doesn't help. The entire Monster brand bases its existence on overblown hype and highly gullible or ignorant consumers - I don't think anyone can deny that!

  • +5

We made a mistake on our discount % so we are honoring a ridiculously low price - grab it while you can!

    • Actually, I'm thinking of grabbing it even though I don't need it.
