    Can anyone advise me what will happen if I put this into my desktop that has:

    2 x 8GB other brand & lower speed ram?

    Would it break my PC or should I always buy same model / speed of ram for upgrade?

      Its likely to run at the slower speed of the ram, so adding this to your other ram will only increase it to 32Gb, not improve performance (will likely decrease it ever so slightly). Its best to buy the same model/speed but it wont break your PC.

            @ATangk: ah yeah, my question is, my current PC's ram (which is slow one - 2133Mhz, different model from this) is more expensive than this model (which is cheaper).
            Then would it worth to pay more money to get same RAM that my pc currently has? or just buy this and use it as this is cheaper?
            (understood that it will run in slower-speed of rams - which is my current one)

              @SWill: 2133 is very much slower than this. If you want to upgrade, I'd just swap to this crucial ballistix and try to flog off your old one for cheap or use it in an old build. If you're running out of memory, you could buy 32Gb of this and use it (16Gb should be sufficient for most).

              If your old memory is actually faster, but 2133 is its current speed, make sure you have XMP profiles activated.

          Memory controller has to handle 4 sticks instead of 2 sticks. Depends on rank, and chipset and a whole bunch of other factors.

              @abjsdhasehasee: won't decrease compare to what it was, but won't unleash the full 3200Mhz speed of the new kit (and its huge OC potential).

              If you had enough RAM in the first place, swapping from slow to fast will benefit way more than adding and have more slow memory. (if what you have is not enough capacity wise it would be a different story)

                @OMGJL: true, but saying buying this to pair with a bogged jedec kit would decrease performance is just false.

                best off buying 2 of this kit and selling that kit for like $40/50 to someone desperate

      I'm in the same position as you - I have existing 2x8GB 2133 as i'm running older CPU i7-6700k. I've bought this kit yesterday to add another 2x8GB to give total 32GB.

      Yes - this memory will run at the slower speed of 2133 to match the existing RAM. There are a few solutions:

      1. You can try overlock existing RAM to a higher speed
      2. You can sell the 2133 existing RAM and upgrade that kit if you want
      3. Or don't bother. RAM speed impact is very minimal in the overall scheme of things, and benchmarks show it's not worth the extra cost or hassle.

      I want it more for total memory rather than speed performance.

      I'll try overclock my existing RAM a little bit, but even if it stays at 2133 overall it's fine.

        RAM speed impact is very minimal in the overall scheme of things

        in my experience in Warzone and PUBG, all same setting with 2666 RAM or 3600 RAM as the only variable, 2666 constantly have micro stutter and 3600 run super smooth. I can feel the stutter as well as the frame time display on afterburner have way bigger variance between low to high. Mind you my PC isn't low end by any means. 10850k custom loop + Z490 Tomahawk + 6800xt reference + 970 Evo Plus

          CPU limited high FPS gaming is where RAM OC helps the most - people playing stuff at 4K or 1440p max settings are less likely to see the gains.

          I OC my RAM but as I play the more story based single player FPS stuff (Metro, Far Cry, Doom) I'm probs not getting any real gains, but I do it anyway cause RAM OC is way more fun and way harder than CPU or GPU OC (5600X + 6800XT @ 1440p - currently 4x8GB of B Die, also have a 2x8 kit of old grey Ballistix Sport LT 3000c15 Rev E - have only done the B Die with the 5600X, but did both kits on the 10600KF - oh, I use an Assassin III air cooler)

          I did order two of these (presumably also Rev E?) kits in white for my kid's white build - white CM TD500 Mesh ARGB, 6700XT white Hellhound, bunch of white CM ARGB fans etc with the Z490/10600KF - my current Rev E kit is in her PC just with the stock 3600 Rev E kit specs plugged in for a quick easy OC, so hopefully that'll still work with these new 4x8GB when they arrive.

      Basically your PC should run the new ram at the same 2133mhz as the existing RAM. There is no need to pay more for slower RAM to match what you have

          5900X with B550 Aorus Pro at 1.44V. I haven't tried 3800 but I guess that depends if my motherboard can also do 1900MHz IF.

            @netsurfer: Personally, my 2x8 3600CL16 kit couldn't do 3600CL14-16-16 @ 1.35v and I didn't want to raise the voltage. ​ I don't recall what frequency it dropped to though, but I think it was in the 2000s (kept dropping to lower freqs so it could try boot at cl14)

    I have two of these is my gaming rig already. I have heard that 16gb is enough for gaming but I will run some tests tonight and see if I am getting near capacity. If so, anyone recommend puting another couple in or waiting for deal on 2x16gb sticks?

      16GB is on the edge. Forza Horizon 5 uses 14GB with nothing but the game open. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 will blow past 16GB quite easily. Considering you're running a 3080, I would consider 32GB.

      If running at the same speed it's fine. The reason people advise to use all the same brand is because if you are overclocking, you will be limited by the lowest performing RAM you have installed.

      To save on manufacturing costs, they use the same heat spreaders on the RGB version with translucent white plastic instead of solid plastic.
