looks like you're forever alone :)

  • +4

Shame iPad Mini isn’t included, otherwise nice deal if you have bought discounted/promo Gift Cards from Woolies.

Not a direct discount, but at least you can get the free engraving on things too unlike via retail stores.

  • +2

wonder if edu store runs the same deal? would be with better discount :)

    • +13

This offer cannot be combined with the Partner Employee Purchase Program, or education or business loyalty pricing.

  • +7

    Upvote for formatting.

  • +6

can it be paid with gift card

    • +1

I wonder the same - can I pay with Apple Gift Cards to receive another Apple Gift Card?

    • Use your Apple Balance instead of Gift Card. Order online and pick up in store.

      • I bought an SE this afternoon ($479) I used my $46.51 Apple Balance. But also got 3 different pending charges on my commbank for $409, $23.49 and $46.51… Cbb calling Apple right now.

    • "You can use up to 8 Apple Gift Cards. Apple Store Gift Cards can't be used with Apple Pay." this is what i see on payment page. going to stack this today with this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/665508#comment-11427688
Effectively getting macbook air + magic mouse + usbc-usb cable for $1350
Hopefully BigW has gift cards left.

      • update: bigw points tracked instantly - was able to purchase macbook air using them. Now waiting for 4.5% cashrewards + $140 promotional email to buy magic moust + usbc-usb cable for $138 in total.

  • How about the watch series 7? Any card on that.

    • +1

Same like every year, no GC for new products.

  • +1

So the M1 MacBook air is like a 10% sale jb etc often have but you stuck using the 10% at Apple.

  • +1

too bad iPhone 13 is excluded…. does the education store have iPhone 13?

    • No discount on iphones via edu store iirc :(

  • +4

This BF deal from Apple is almost the same as every year. You will never see discounts on the latest / flagship products.

The best deal is the free airpods offer with a MacBook Pro purchase via the EDU store.

    • Is that the back to uni offer in January?

      • Yes. Got that this year.

  • +1

Best deal seems to be Apple TV 4K 32gb, pay the $249 with 15% off gc $212, then get $70 credit, so effectively $142

    • How do I get 15% off GC? :)

      • +3

Probably referring to deals similar to Woolworths where you get extra Woolworths Rewards Points for buying iTunes Credit, where the extra rewards can be converted to cash off groceries that is around 10-15% off the face value of the card you purchased.

Coles I think has a bonus Flybuy points deal currently.

  • +1

The only thing worth to buy through this deal is the AirPods 3. Most of the others are outdated or can be cheaper through the Education stores.

    • +1

Agree, most hardwares like Mac are cheaper in edu store
however, accessories in edu store are mostly same as RRP
so Airpods 3 will be good in value

Airpods 3 RRP $279, factoring the discounted GC from woolies / coles, make is theoretically $237.5 (15% off)
and the $35 gift card brings down to $202.5

  • Damn, was hoping the HomePod Mini would be included in this deal.

  • So even if you were only planning to buy one Apple product, you have to buy another Apple product to get the deal?

    • No, you just buy one of the products listed above and get the gift card. The card can be used for the App Store and other Apple subscription services if you don’t want any other physical items.

  • +1

Do you get the gift card straight away? Say if I buy an Ipad can I use the gift card towards an pencil?

    • +1

Last year I received the gift card before I picked up my items, almost instantaneously. I suggest ordering your iPad and then waiting for the GC, given the offer extends over 4 days, YMMV.

  • Can this deal stack with AOC edu store?

    • +1

      It specify purchase from apple.com/au
so probably not valid for AOC store, which is apple.com/au_edu_5000447

  • -1

booo I thought they "might" have a deal for iPhone 13. Looking for an iPhone 13 mini deal, are there any available to buy outright?
What is the normal protocol? Gift Cards? Edu? Wait till Jan?

    • -1

Wait until iPhone 14 is released.

  • -3

So if i order a MacBook. Get the giftcard, and can then return the macbook. The gift card will still work .. right ???

    • +2

Obviously not. Just read the tc

    • +5

No it is not. They made it in a way so that people like you can't abuse the system. This is how it works, you buy $1000 hardware with $100 gift card. you will get $900 invoice for hardware and $100 invoice for gift card. If you return hardware you will get just $900.

    • +2

mans about to finesse the trillion dollar company lolololo

  • +3

Going to stack this with the discounted gift cards from coles/woollies. 4 pack AirTags works out to be about $95

  • +4

This is a great deal for things like the 4 pack AirTags, Apple Pencil 2nd gen and Apple TV 4K, particularly when stacked with discounted Apple Gift Cards.

Even before factoring discounted gift cards it brings many of these down to their lowest prices to date or close to it, without having to sign up for any BNPL stuff.

Shame it doesn't apply to the HomePod mini just because they released it in new colours.

  • iPad pro 11" 256gb
    edu $1279
    apple $1349 -140 =1209

    Apple pencil 2
    Edu $189
    Apple $199-35 =164

Better pricing than education store itself.
T&C didn't mention anything regarding gift card/apple balance can not be used. So I am guessing it's okay to pay with gift card balance for extra discount.

Worst case, pay with gift card, if no gift card rewarded, just return for refund and purchase again through Edu.

    • Can you price match? apple pencil showing 169 at OW

      • they said they can price match as long as it doesn't reduce their price by more than 10% but a comment below said if you price match, you don't get the gift card.

  • How does edu store work? Only uni students can apply?

    • This offer cannot be combined with the Partner Employee Purchase Program, or education or business loyalty pricing

  • +3

ok.. so help me with my logic… I am keen on getting a Series 3 watch - $299 RRP at Apple

    1) Purchase $280 Apple Gift cards from Big W (get 10% back in reward dollars $28)
    2) Add gift cards to apple account
    3) Call Apple - ask for a price match on the phone to JB-HIFI = $279
    4) Pay with Apple Account balance
    5) get $70 Apple credit

    Effective cost = $279 - $28 - $70. = $181

I know the cashback and apple credit are not technically discounts…. but $181 nett cost to me for a $299 series 3 watch.. seems a pretty good deal?

    Am I missing something?

    • What if they don't give you the $70 GC when u do price matching?

      • +1

I won't bother price matching if they won't give me $70. I might ask them first and let you know

    • +2

I tried to do something similar last year but if you take the discount you don't get the GC.

  • Wow …series 3 watch now 299….makes me wanting to collect one now

  • Where are people getting the discounted apple gift cards?

    • +1

      BigW rewards points

      • Just did this including 4.5% cashrewards

  • I just tried pretending to buy iphone 12, till the checkout it still showing full price (and saying giftcard will be sent by email).

I thought the giftcard value will be used straight away reducing the amount due?

    • Nope. The point is to force you to come back and buy something else to spend the gift card.

      • if im not into games or song or movie or books, what other things that people used their credit for ?

        • iPhone accessories?

          • @aeon: err… apologies but i mostly get those from aliexpress.

        • People buy physical Apple products - last year I combined my vouchers and put them towards a watch.

  • How quickly did people get gift cards via email? I still haven’t seen anything?!

    • Right after they charge you and shipped

      Email should go through

      • Thanks. I picked up. Wonder if that’s the issue..

        • Not sure. Can email apple to ask
