Essentially 10% off apple gift cards in the form of everyday rewards. Cheers.

    • How does it work?
      I buy something like $200 and i get 20k points .
Then i uds the points to buy apple card?

      • +4

No, you purchase apple gift cards and scan your everyday rewards card to receive bonus points. The bonus points equate to 10% off the purchase price of your apple gift card purchases.

        e.g. purchase $100 apple gift cards = 2000 points = $10 everyday rewards voucher.

The everyday rewards voucher can be used to purchase groceries from woolies or (as I've just recently learned) purchase items from Big W (just bought death stranding, director's cut for $59 and used the earlier, targeted, little birdie commbank voucher to take $20 off, effectively bringing price down to $39, then added a $1 item to round up total to $40 and used my everyday rewards card to pay off the balance).

        • Thanks for the explanation

        • Hi, thanks so much for your time and patience in explaining. I am a total novice in using my Woolworths Everyday Rewards card as well as any giftcards.

I went to check out the BigW Apple cards and saw that the $20-$500 card says 20x points. I am thinking of going instore at BigW to get 3 of their $500 giftcards to use towards a new MacBook. Does that mean I will get 30,000 points Everyday Rewards in total for my 3 giftcards?

Also, if the total of $1,500 is insufficient for a MacBook, does Apple allow me to pay the balance with cash or credit card? And when they give me the $140 Apple giftcard (current offer from Apple) would I be able to use that card towards the extended warranty period?

          • +1

            @Mayyy: No worries at all.

Your calculation is correct - 30,000 points.

Also, yes - if the balance is insufficient, you can pay the remainder on card (or cash - in store).

Once you receive the $140 gift card, I’d suggest going home with this card and adding the gift card to your Apple ID (top up your balance) and then adding apple care after the fact - you have, if memory serves me, up to 60 days to add apple care after your date of purchase, provided you don’t total the device beforehand!

The point of purchasing apple care afterwards as opposed to in store is because I don’t think they will allow you to purchase it using the gift card you received then and there. It’ll have to be added to your Apple ID balance. Also note that for MacBook apple care - the price will be a bit more than $140 - I believe it is around $300 ish. Well worth it imo - especially if you travel a lot with your device.

            @Mayyy:

And when they give me the $140 Apple giftcard (current offer from Apple) would I be able to use that card towards the extended warranty period?

If you go into a physical Apple store, you can use that gift card (and another gift card if you want) to pay for a full upfront payment of AppleCare+ for your MacBook.

If you add the gift card to your Apple ID balance, you may or may not be able to use that balance to pay for AppleCare+ on the Apple website or through your online Apple account. Some OzBargainers have been able to pay for AppleCare+ using their Apple ID, and some have not been able to do that. You cannot use your Apple ID as a payment method in physical Apple stores, so you have been warned!

Great. Will come in handy to pay the tax man that call me today for payment with gift cards

    • +1

And Coles did remind me that was a scam the last time I bought a rather large amount.

  • +1

Keen to buy 6 cards of 500 each for 3k and buy a macbook pro 14. Any other way to save more than 10 percent.

    • +3

Load them into your Apple ID and then redeem via one of the Apple Education portals. (Search old deals here). Can effectively stack the BIGW and EDU discounts.

      • Thanks, and can you share which these portals are? I know only of Apples direct Ed store.

      • Can I use more than 8 cards in one transaction if I load them into apple account?

        • +1

You redeem to your account first, it will update your account balance. After that you use that balance to purchase.

        • You can call Apple support and load more GCs to your account.

  • +1

This seems much better to me than coles. I never use flybuys but everyday rewards are great for my Qantas points or at worst grocery shop ^^

    Especially when stacked with

  • +6

not sure if we will ever see a 30x points again :-( should i just go for this one, hard to know.

    • Buy again when there is 30x :D

    • possible not this year at least.

    • +1

totally missed out on that one. wasn't thinking clearly in september….

  • You can use this to buy iCloud storage?

    • +1

      Yes

  • What is the largest 🍎 GC one can buy?

  • Can you use your wish gift card to pay and still get the rewards points?

    • No.

BIG W updated their checkout systems a few years ago to stop people using Woolworths Group gift cards to pay for any gift cards.

  • Anyone knows if you can buy this online and get it delivered? Or is in-store purchase only?

    • +1

Pg 11 says it is for store orders only.

  • Hopefully it goes better than the flybuys crap show.

  • Nice.

  • Does anyone know if i can buy these using big W gift cards ?

    • last time i tried, it didnt allow, but when similar offer came in coles, it allowed.

  • will the 15% off deal come back soon?

    • +1

      Been waiting for that

    • no idea

  • can they be purchased from woolworths as well as they share same rewards card? Also can I use woolworths or bigw gift cards to pay for these in store?

    • +1

No, different store, and no, you can’t buy gift cards with gift cards.

  • I don't see the offer in the catelogue anymore? Did they withdraw the offer?

  • There is a 5 x boost on the rewards app, does this mean 5x 20x essentially 100x points? Or does one cancel out the other? Or would it be 20x plus 5x so 25x the points etc

    • +1

      Not quite.

If you look at the terms of the booster in your Everyday Rewards app, a 5x points booster means you get 1x standard point per dollar and 4x bonus points per dollar. If the points booster worked with Apple gift cards, you would get:

      • 20x bonus points per dollar spent on Apple gift cards from the offer in the catalogue, plus

      • 4x bonus points per dollar spent on Apple gift cards from the in-app booster, plus

      • 0x standard points per dollar spent on Apple gift cards, as gift cards attract zero standard points at Woolworths, BIG W, etc.

However, the terms of the in-app booster also mentions that purchases of gift card are excluded. Having said that, Everyday Rewards apparently forgot to add Apple gift cards as exclusions for previous in-app boosters, so there is a chance that will work and you’ll get 24x bonus points, instead of 20x bonus points.

      • So you think if I activate the boost, it should be ok to give a try I should still get the 20x but could possible get the bonus of the extra 4, or would it stuff it all up and I don't get any points? as in am I at a risk here to boost or not to boost etc

        • +2

I think you should activate the booster, because you’ll have nothing to lose (as long as you activate the offer at least two hours before purchasing anything).

The booster and the catalogue offer are two very separate Everyday Rewards offers, so even if you activate the booster and you don’t get any bonus points from it, you’ll still get the 20x bonus points from the catalogue offer.

When you scan your Everyday Rewards card, scan the gift cards and then press Pay Now at the self-service checkout, there should be a points counter on the screen towards the top right-hand corner that will show the number of points you’ll earn for the transaction. It would nearly always only show the 20x bonus points you’ll earn from the catalogue offer, and any bonus points from boosters will almost always be credited later.

From experience, if a gift card purchase from BIG W triggers an in-app booster, it would take anywhere between a few hours and a few days before the points are credited to your account. If Everyday Rewards determines your spend on Apple gift cards was ineligible for the in-app booster, it will do nothing, but you will still keep the 20x bonus points from the catalogue offer.

          • +3

@WookieMonster: The extra boost worked with the 20x so yeh an extra 4 x points rewards make sure you boost

            • @DJS: I also had the 5x storewide points booster and can confirm that it gives an extra 4x points on top of the 20x offer.

              • @Error 418: my one says excludes spend on gift cards (including iTunes)

                • @tonyyang: Yes, mine does as well. As noted above, it appears like Apple gift cards weren't actually added as an exclusion for this booster.

                • @tonyyang: As I explained above, gift card purchases are supposed to be excluded from all Everyday Rewards bonus points boosters. That is why you see that exclusion term in the terms and conditions of the booster.

However, it appears that Everyday Rewards still have not listed Apple gift cards as an exclusion for these boosters, which is why they have triggered the BIG W storewide bonus points boosters for people who have been targeted with them. I thought that is something Everyday Rewards would have rectified by now, as this has been happening since the first Apple gift card deal at Woolworths three months ago, but apparently not!

Before you get too excited, nearly all gift cards sold at Woolworths or BIG W will not trigger bonus points boosters. The Apple gift cards are currently the only exception I'm aware of. Swap Gift Cards and Ultimate (Home) Gift Cards used to trigger these boosters in the past, but that is not the case anymore.

                  • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks for the reply, I bought it today, and got 20x + 5x points.

    • The 5x points booster only applies to arts and crafts category. At least the offer I have does.

      • +1

Mine said any purchase storewide etc

    • +1

Activated all the boost options in my app then bought $250 Apple gift card, got 5000 points.

      • So the boost didnt work, right? 250x20 is 5000

  • Is this deal available to anyone in QLD? I don't see it in my rewards app

    • The deal is listed in the most recent BIG W catalogue, not the Everyday Rewards app.

There’s no indication on the catalogue that any stores are excluded; it only states that it is an in-store only deal.

      • I do not see it in the catalogue. Are the online catalogues different based on location?

        • I don’t think so.

I tested setting my location on the BIG W website to Melbourne, Canberra, Hobart, Brisbane and Gold Coast, and there were no changes to the catalogue.

As far as I am aware, BIG W only releases one version of a catalogue, and that is valid across Australia. Unlike Woolworths, BIG W does not ask you to specify a postcode before viewing their catalogues on their website.

Are you looking at page 11 of the For the Love of Decorating catalogue (released 25 Nov)? It is not listed in the Black Fri-yay catalogue (released 23 Nov).

  • Thanks OP for the post and everyone above for explaining exactly how this worked, much appreciated for novices like me!
So I went to Big W today and bought $2700 in Apple gift cards (5 x $500 and 1 x $200) thinking that I would be spending that much at the Apple Store. Turns out though that I only needed $2000 of that. Does anyone know if Big W will allow me to return two totally unused apple gift cards (1 x $500 and 1 x $200) so I can get my money back? Obviously I understand the rewards points should be reduced by 700 x 20 = 14,000 points as I would be returning some of the gift cards. If anyone has successfully done this before please let me know, thanks!

    • +1

Gift cards are non returnable as they have no way to know if you’ve redeemed them

  • Is it national wide? Can anybody confirm they get Everyday Rewards Points after purchasing? Cheers

    • +2

It is nationwide. If it is not nationwide, it would state that in the catalogue.

There are also at least three reports from other commenters who (rather implicitly) confirmed they received bonus points from this catalogue deal.

If you’re still unsure, go to a self-service checkout at BIG W, scan your Everyday Rewards card, scan the Apple gift cards and then press Pay Now. There should be a points counter on the screen towards the top right-hand corner that will show the number of points you’ll earn for the transaction, and it should show 20x bonus points for every dollar you’ve spent on Apple gift cards.

      • +1

This is where Everyday Rewards beats Flybuys - you can see in-checkout what bonus points / reward dollars are going to be given as you check-out. I was reluctant on the Flybuys deal, but just bought $3k at Big W.

  • I'm assuming not, but anyone know if StudentEdge discounts can be stacked with Cashback offers (i.e CashRewards)?

    • No.

The StudentEdge discounts on Apple products can only be accessed through a special EPP portal, and according to the Cashrewards page for Apple:

Cashback is ineligible on EPP purchases (Employee Purchase Program).

  • Thanks purchased $4600 worth of cards today. The self-serve checkout lady was clueless when it came to the 20x reward and kept insisting that I was getting scammed by some Indian scammer…

She was also adamant that the point would take up to 10 days to show up in my ER account and was very suppriesed that it popped up straight away that I had $410 in rewards.

    • My check out lady was well aware

    • I thought only a maximum of 8 giftcards could be used at Apple? Is 8 x 500 max?

      • I did 2 orders

  • Any idea when this expires? Was it today or Tomorrow midnight?

    • The deal ends when stores close on Wednesday (1 Dec).

  • Anyone tried to use this 5% off deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/667849 to buy Big W giftcards then buy the 20 x Apple cards at Big W.

    • +1

      Don’t bother.

BIG W updated their checkout systems a few years ago to stop people using Woolworths Group gift cards to pay for any gift cards sold at BIG W.

Someone else actually tried purchasing Nintendo gift cards using a BIG W gift card at BIG W a couple of days ago and it didn’t work, so I would be thoroughly surprised if you can use BIG W gift cards to purchase Apple gift cards. You could always try, but don’t get your hopes up!

  • Is the blue Itunes/app store gift card also eligible for this bonus points?

    • Highly unlikely.

The App Store & iTunes gift cards are not pictured in the catalogue.

Also, Coles and Woolworths have treated Apple gift cards as a brand new gift card, rather than a direct replacement of App Store & iTunes gift cards. As such, at Woolworths, Apple gift cards and App Store & iTunes gift cards are allocated two separate PLU (product lookup) numbers in Woolworths’ system, and only the PLU numbers for the Apple gift cards have been eligible for bonus points in previous promotions. BIG W operates in a similar manner to Woolworths, so it is safe to assume BIG W also assigns the two gift cards two different PLU numbers.

Also, I thought App Store & iTunes gift cards would have been removed from BIG W by now.

  • Looking at doing this in a few hours at the self checkouts to see points on the fly.

Is the max amount giftcards we can load onto our account definitely only 8?

A comment above said you could call Apple and have more loaded anyone confirm doing this?

    • the limit isn't number of cards but total value, I think its $4999

  • Got $1300 to pay off the 13 Pro 512 on the in store Vodafone deal. $150 in awards account with a few hours.

Lucky got one more day to go, need to get another $300 for Apple care L&S plan.

  • Just went and got $2000 worth of cards. Interesting to note - I initially grabbed 3 of the $20-$500 cards to load $500 on each one, and 3 of the $200 ones to make total $2100. Lucky I was watching the points counter as the cards were scanned in as the $500 ones did not generate points on the fly - the points got to 12000 for the 3x $200 cards and stopped. So I got the guy to void the $500 ones and picked up 10 of the $200 cards instead. They also made me pay for 2 of the $200 cards at a time because something in their system did not allow the purchase of 10 cards at once. Very odd. The points appear to be reflected in the account activity right now but not in my points total - but I suspect it will sort itself out. So it is possible to get 10 cards and still get points. But not sure why the $500 cards did not trigger 10000 points each time they were scanned in.

    • Thanks for posting. I was wondering why the 'other amount' cards weren't updating on the fly as implied above in a comment further up.

I took the risk and paid, even though it showed 0 rewards. I was relieved to see my rewards 'cash' balance printed on the receipt.

  • So it seems a maximum of 8 Giftcards is accepted by the Apple store.

    So 8 x 500 giftcards = $4000
Say someone wants to buy the M1 Max at around $6400

Is there anyway to save further on the remaining amount?

    • Add multiple gift cards to your Apple Account Balance. You can add as many gift cards as you want to your Apple Account Balance, but the most you can add to your Apple Account without assistance from Apple is $4,999. Having said that, if you want your Apple Account Balance to go over $4,999, you can ask Apple manually increase it for you.

You can then use your Apple Account Balance (in conjunction with up to 8 gift cards and/or one credit/debit card, if required) to pay for items over the phone or on the online Apple Store. You cannot use Apple Account Balances to as a payment method in-person at a physical Apple Store.

      • Thanks for the info. Maybe I got unlucky but I phoned Apple Support and they told me they can't go over the 8 giftcards and $4,999 amount.

I asked the chap to check with his supervisor and confirm can't help.

Don't know how you guys are doing it!?

        • You should ask the person whose comment I linked to, as I’ve never needed to add so many gift cards to my account balance!

What’s the issue you’re having though? If you have $4,999 loaded onto your Apple Account Balance, you can use that and up to eight gift cards totalling $1,401 to pay for that new MacBook Pro.
