  • Any x1 yoga deal or 2 in 1?

    • just for the record - the stylus on the new (gen 6) X1 yoga is a big downgrade from the previous metal one.

The new stylus is much thinner, lighter and all-plastic construction.

Also I haven't used it too much as yet but I'm concerned about heat, more so than on my old gen 1

The days of getting R7-5800H with RTX3060 for around $1.6k is gone…

    • you are a competent price watcher
I spot a DELL Allienware 3070 is about $2200 on their website, maybe thats better deal comparing to the $2000 3060 Lenovo

      • Yeah, I am waiting for the deal to come up again… but fail to get one after I missed them.

    • I have a 6 month old asus tuf a15 2021 for sale around that mark with 5800 and 3060

  • +4

    no chance of 3070s?

    • Big waiting list

      • idm the wait as long as long as I can get a good price :(

        • Not really how it's working with GPUs these days

  • I bought the Legion 5 Pro with RTX3050Ti for $1839 from Lenovo website when they have the 30% off and including cashback, I think it cost me me about $1720 roughly, bought on 1/11/21 and delivered on 4/11/21, which is pretty quick.

    • +1

omg when was the 30% off? how did I miss it!

      • Just last week, think Lenovo is trying to get rid of stocks.

Can they do 3 years warranty on the legion 3080?

  • Does anyone know if the Lenovo Legion 5i can be upgraded to 32GB of RAM?

    • certainly, there are two sodimm slots

    • +1

Can confirm, have 2 sticks of Crucial 16GB DDR4 3200MHz (32GB in total) running on this Legion 5i Stingray as we speak.
Purchased from this deal back then:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/658736

I have also tried 2 sticks of Crucial 32GB DDR4 3200MHz CL22 (64GB in total) and didn't boot up. Single stick of 32GB also didn't boot up.

      • I've got the stingray laptop also with 1TB SSD. Love my laptop. Looking to add another 1TB. Not really sure what to get. Should I get something good like a Samsung Evo just to store my games on and keep them separate, or is the stock SSD good enough to store games and I buy a second cheaper SSD option?

        • The stock is a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD Samsung PM9A1 which apparently is an OEM 980 Pro, so it's already a great stock SSD. So if you need more space I think a Samsung 980 Evo 1TB would be a great option since the second slot will be PCIe 3.0 x4 as the stock already taken up the PCIe 4.0 x4 slot.

@indecisive1: Thanks for the reply mate. Happy cyber weekend.

            • @chugsta: No worries, wanted to add I love mine too. It runs so cool sitting on this laptop stand I bought from amazon. It's perfectly exposes the rear intake vents whilst keeping the laptop sturdy. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01KTDF9K8/ref=emc_b_5_i

I use a single TB4 cable from the back into a Caldigit hub connected to my monitor and peripherals. It's a really nice laptop for the price, so happy with my purchase.

              • @indecisive1: That is a very nice stand! This is my first time buying a gaming PC. Is a stand like that required to keep temp down whilst on high load?

                • +1

@chugsta: Yes as the bottom (not rear like I said above sorry) of the Legion 5i have two intake fans, lifting it up off the desk on a stand like that allows for better airflow to suck fresh air in and exhaust at the back and sides to reduce temps.

  • Would the battery life be much different between the Ryzen 5 Pro and the Ryzen 7 laptops?

Absolute killer price on the L7 3080. I often like to say that legions are much more expensive than what they go for in china but this is actually hella good. The equiv chinese model runs for about 16k cny, which is about 15% cheaper, but when you factor in 10% GST and the fact that this have 2tb nvme vs 1tb on the chinese model? Heck take my money-is what I would have said if i havent got a gaming laptop already.

Definitely recommended to anyone with the money for it. Even at only 16' inch and not all too thicc for a gaming laptop, the performance is on par with the top end 17 inch competitors (alienware x17/rog s17/predator 500/ge76) and certainly doesnt compromises on heat nor fan noises (definitely loud and hot as per usual for gaming laptops but no more than the others). Plenty of RGB vomit as well.

    • 4k phew

    • Bought my brother the L7 3080 from Lenovo Hong Kong, cost HKD 22,671 which convert into AUD 4077.93 on my credit card bill.

Lenovo warned it can take up to 8 weeks but luckily only took 16 days to arrive.

The spec sounded like 1 x 2TB NVMe SSD, but it showed 2 x 1TB drive in Windows hardware info.

4-cell battery keeps the laptop slim, but power drains in no time. Realistic gaming expectation is to run on AC power!

  • it's been ages since we've had a good E14/E15 deal, what's the general consensus, is this about the best we're going to see for the next couple of months? or worth holding out for black friday?

for context, i'm looking at buying 4 to refresh some laptops for my wife's business, and for comparison i picked up an E14 Gen2 back in Jan for $999 (ryzen, 16gb, 512gb), the E495s before that were $711 (!!!)

    • I'm wondering the same. Need to buy two laptops for high school and was looking at a Thinkpad E15. I got one for $711 two years ago and hoped there might be a similar deal.

  • picked up the ryzen 3060 version for $2080, pretty pleased with that!

  • With the Lenovo Legion 7 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX 32GB RAM 2TB SSD RTX 3080 165Hz, how do you plug it into a display port monitor to get full Hz?

I need to plug into at least 1, but preferably 2 external monitors, 1 of which needs to run 1440 144Hz, but the AMD Ryzen in this laptop doesn't support Thunderbolt, and hence no good docks to my knowledge that can output full Hz to my monitors.

    • +1

You can use a USB C 3.2 to DP cable to run full refresh rate on a g sync compatible monitor

      • Thanks Noodle, I'll have to buy a couple as I ended up buying the Legion 7; should arrive Wednesday. Hopefully i can get a couple of these cables express posted to arrive around the same day.

        • If you can wait longer, there is this USB-C dock with two HDMI and one DP port by blitzwolf, but I'm not sure if you'll be able to run g-sync through it or if g-sync requires a direct connection for hdcp checks. I'm not familiar with g-sync.

    Hi There

I have just bought this model two weeks ago with your ad on eBay for $200 more. I think I deserve a refund for the difference.
    Lenovo Legion 5i - Intel Core i7-11600H 16GB RAM 512GB SSD RTX 3060 165Hz

I have been buying Lenovo for the laptop since my first one. Loyalty needs to be rewarded

    • +1

      We don't work for Lenovo.

      • But no surprise that someone who wants a refund for that thinks we do

    • if you bought with a credit card you can normally get the amount refunded (price protection)

Or try calling lenovo or going where you purchased it

    • You can 'think you deserve a refund' all you want but if you go by the ruling of the ACCC they are not obligated to offer you a refund in the case that you bought a product and it went on sale later.

That being said, if it's still within the refund window you can always complain to Lenovo to see if they'll bite. Or just go through price protection.

  • Perfect timing, needed one for my son for school 👍

I bought from Ebay under the post by Mr.dealbot on 17/10/2021 11am here which is the same post on this one. I am only putting my question to the source.
I can understand someone here who seemed offended by my asking.

Thank you for people answering. I did not know Lenovo has a price matching policy, paid by cc, I will give them a try.

    Below is the post information:
Lenovo will be having another ebay sale starting tomorrow morning 10am AEDT.

Negotiated some deals with the Lenovo rep including the lowest price for the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3.

Pay with discounted ebay gift cards for further savings.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/e/coupon-offers/20-off-lenovo-oct21

    • No I'm saying your credit card needs to have price protection to do that…

Lenovo you can try but they don't have to do it

    • +1

I have just bought this model two weeks ago with your ad on eBay for $200 more.

It is actually 3 weeks, and $120.

Just make sure you get the correct info when you write to them about getting the refund.

      • Just out of memory when I first saw the ad.
Already in progress with Lenovo. The fact is I paid more than I should.

        • You paid the price they offered at the time 3 weeks ago. No one knows when there is going to be a sale or when RRP will drop.

          • @CodeXD: I have the right to return the product within 30 days of the purchase. No questions asked. That is the end of line. I think you might get into this sort of situation one day when you make purchase. Don’t want any argument. Thanks.

            • @bondi: Then what was the point of all your massive posts?

              • @mickeyjuiceman: You could choose not to read my post. What do you mean massive…pasted the previous ad cause it is not allowed photos.

                • @bondi: You seem not to understand how OzBaergain works, but it tells you when there's been a new post, but not that it's pointless.

            • @bondi:

You can ask a business for your preference of a free repair, replacement or refund, but you are not always entitled to one. For example, the consumer guarantees do not apply if you got what you asked for but simply changed your mind, found it cheaper somewhere else, decided you did not like the purchase or had no use for it.

              https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees…

              • @CodeXD: Seller dropped price in short time himself. It is not the case that found somewhere cheaper.
Simply this is to protect the consumer purchasing as said 30 days money back guaranties on the product. No question asked. I did not ask for refund and just price matching. I have the right to do it within 30days. So there is still time.

    • Just getting back on this matter. Lenovo is refused price matching request on the ground of seven days time frame. So they do have the responsibility after sales, in my case I am out for this excuse. All the pc consumers on line should know this and keep in mind you have the right once it happens again.

      • Awesome, no one had any idea that once something was sold it was sold.

  • I am after the [Lenovo Legion 5 Pro - AMD Ryzen 7 5800H 16GB RAM 512GB SSD RTX 3060 165Hz] (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/403277776149) but it has just gone out of stock!

Any more stock coming in before the deal ends?

  • Explain to me like I'm 5 why people would get the legion pro 5 with 3050 over the Ideapad with 3060 when it's $200 odd more. Is it just a looks thing? I'm ok with computer specs without being an expert but to me the Ideapad looks like it's better specced and cheaper.

    • -1

Legion has higher TDP and optimized cooling, CPU/GPU components will run to near max of what they are capable of.

    • +1

Legion 5 has Aluminium chassis, brighter and higher resolution screen.

  • Legion 7 super tempting. Fair bit cheaper than direct from Lenovo but for work purposes would need to bundle a few things with it.

Chances it's a bit cheaper come black friday?

Also any updates when to expect 12th gen Intel chips for laptops?

Not in huge rush and can wait til April if would make a huge difference.

    • Just got a Zephyrus M16, would’ve gone for one of these otherwise.

  • The Legion 7 is now out of stock. For anyone still interested I tried their official site link and talked with a live chat staff. Sent the ebay link and he approved the same discount! Better than that you can also get about $190 double MyLenovo Rewards dollars (didn’t know that exists) to redeem later. On free sign up, you get $10 reward so I used it to buy the discounted laptop! Only 2 Legion 7 left when I checked it now. So better be quick. For other models maybe you could try same trick, have fun!

    • +1

Lenovo points just launched a few days ago :)

    • Yep just bought today around 12

Had 4 left when I was on so likely to go soon.

Also cash rewards works for quotes!! Didn't think it would but just got confirmed 274 back!
