Any thoughts on the S2722DC as a productivity and very light gaming monitor?

    • Also keen on this monitor and would like opinions. For $10 extra with usb-c hub seems like a no-brainer over the S2721DS.

      • Is it 4K monitor?

    • Interested in this as well

    • +1

I bought the 4k version a couple sales back. I love it for general use - the 1440p model with 75hz would be great for light gaming (easier to run) and slightly smoother than 60hz on the 4k. Can charge my 16" Macbook Pro fine during normal use.

I can't say I've gamed on it as it's my side-monitor (vertical) but don't expect great performance given the price/type of monitor. It'd be fine for some RPGs or general light gaming, but not so much for any FPS games!

  • Damn. Chuffed to have gotten the S2721QS for $299 looking at some of these prices.

    • I'm not too fussed since besides the 55" which costs over $2k, none of these are 4K displays.

    • +1

How's 4K like on that? I got the QHD version cos I didnt feel like 4K was necessary for my business/office type of work.

      • I sit quite close to the screen so the 4K is perfect (small desk / house). I love the amount of real estate too.

  • Any with hdmi 2.1?

  • +1

The S2721D refurbished (they still have stand but not adjustable ) is only $219.00 (3 year warranty) seems like a good buy
    The https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/refurbished-dell-27-monito…

  • I'm going to be that guy.

Any chance there will be better deals come Black Friday/Xmas?

    Cheers

    • Yep there is. Don't ask me what percentage is. Could be anything from 1% to 99% :)

      • I believe Op mentioned that the deals won't get any better than this for Black Friday. Not sure if he meant in general for these monitors (with other retail sellers) or just the offerings from Dell.

        • Yeah, guess best bet will be just another 20% off again during black friday, don't think their ebay store ever gave more than 20% discount, right?

  • +3

If anyone finds the stuff to be cheaper on dells website and needs discount codes, I have a 20% +7% + $20 off which can all be stacked. Freebie, just pm me.

    • +3

Codes gone. All the best ppl

      • where did you get the $20 off voucher from?

      • what codes were you using / providing?
        student + ??

    • Anyone has these codes can please PM me?

      • yes me too thanks

        • yes me three thanks

          • @rohilkhadgee: the XPS desktop is cheaper on ebay. the one on dell website is before 20% off.

      • me too. any unused code pm to me. thank you

      • Let me know if you still want it, I have a 20+7

    • If anyone wants I have a 20% +7% expiring on 32 October.

      • 32 October?

  • I am on the fence to get 34 UW, the concern is the VA panel, anyone can share some experience on using VA panel?

    • Same, but my concern is the curve for CAD work.
I haven't used a curved monitor before but I'd love an ultrawide.
      Currently I use 2 x 27" 1440p IPS (1 @144Hz, 1 @ 75Hz)

    • +2

Came from IPS Dell U2711 . No big difference for me . Angles doesn't matter too much as I'm in the same office space. Curved has been a great transition for me. No turning back for me.

    Any news on the S3221QS?

      $449

      • Thanks OP. I picked one up.

Got sick of waiting for it to go back to all-time low.

        Ok

      • Ouch.

I wish the Optiplex Micro's would go on sale for once ;(

  • I have one 32” flat, if I buy second one curl to use both monitors is it ok? Look ok as I never have experience before?

    • It's fine.

    • Debatable you need to have the curve one as your primary monitor at least

      Personally find it annoying

      • Thanks, I ordered the curl one then I ordered another flat one. Now I have asked the seller to refund the curl one.

  • +2

    Sweet got another S2721DGF .
they'll look nice paired up on the desk

effectively less than $1 per month LOL

  • Delivery is estimated late Nov. to early December - is that accurate? Seems like ages away. Do Dell normally under-promise/over-deliver?

    • hope someone from last ebay deal can confirm here if their delivery time is good or terrible pls?

      • I purchased from Dell eBay during the last promo a few months ago and had to cancel the order because I've waited 3 weeks and it still hasn't arrived. I contacted customer service and they told me that it was all out of stock due to eh sale so they had to preorder some. I just ended up getting the monitor on Amazon when it was on sale a few days after.

        • ah ha, so Dell is terrible and try to over sold that they dont even have enough stocks, and just keep taking orders …

    • +1

Have ordered a few times from their eBay store. My order has always arrived within a couple of weeks of placing it, well before the estimated date. However, I've read varied experiences on OzB, so….

    • Mine says delivery by 1st DECEMBER….hoping i get it before that….

    • My order came within 3 weeks though it was estimated to arrive 1 month later. so i say they under promise and deliver timely

    • My eBay order took over a month whereas my Dell website order arrived in 2 business days from east coast to Perth. Nothing you can do but hope that what you bought from eBay is actually 'in stock'.

    • Mine also says that and my experience with their delivery is that they give a long estimate delivery like over 1 month and delivered in 3 weeks. Delivery time is horrible but at least they don't lie about it.

    • Has anyone received a dispatch notice yet?
I purchased on the 27/10 but haven't received anything other than the "Order Confirmation"

      • Nothing for me yet, I ordered within 10 mins of deal going live but no despatch note yet.

  • Whats the difference between S2721DS and S2721DC ..Looking for WFH setup. what would be ideal

    • Mainly USB C, I'm looking to get the DC right now as well as I already have the DS.

    • +1

Do you mean S2722DC? Tech specs are all same just the port. USB C port is tremendous help if you have a laptop. However it is still not too common for a desktop. Practically, with a USBC doc, hdmi can be connected for non gaming purposed.

I was in the same delima and ordered S2722DC with S2721Ds for dual monitor setup to have atleast one with Display port and one with C port to easily connect mobile/laptop

      • +1

Thanks mate, based on your advise ordered S2722DC

  • Whats so different between the S2722DGM and S2721DGF? they seem to have similar specs. S2721DGF is way more expensive and has way more hype around it & has good reviews. Although I can't find any decent reviews on the S2722DGM, it seems okay tho. The only dicernable difference is the IPS vs VA display type

    • Curved vs Flat mate

      • Is curved mainly for gaming? Would flat be sufficient enough for productivity type of computer work

        • curved is better for single monitor, flat for dual …

i just got the dwg because i'm going from an 21" so the 27" is a big upgrade (but not as big as the 34" widescreen at work)

  • For dual monitor setup (non gaming); Dell S2721DS with display port and S2722DC with USBC would be the best of both worlds if you want to use desktop in parallel to a laptop for work. Both have exact same tech specs in terms of resolution and contrast. $608 in total. Dual 4k in most cases will be too much for a general use Laptop or desktop unless you have a good graphics card.

    • This is going to be my setup soon as well. Don't have a desktop, but I'm hoping my laptop (XPS 13 9360) can output to dual monitor via it's USB-C port. Not sure how it's going to work though, might need to use an extra hub or something

  • damn missed out of the S3422DWG

  • +1

If you are looking to buy the XPS with 3 years on-site and can get your hands on a student code, buying it directly from Dell's website is a better deal, along with that you get 1 years of free accidental cover.

    • Which student code? The unidays code replaces the 25% clearance discount with the 20% off unidays code (doesn't stack)

  • What's the difference between an S2721D & S2721DS?

    • Height adjustable stand

      • Oh ok, so besides that, the display is exactly the same?

        • +1

Yep, I was also in a similar situation and ended up buying the DS in the end.

        • As miinht said, they're exactly the same monitor.

Unless you plan on mounting it on a monitor arm, I'd suggest the 'DS'.
I bought 2 D's for work to mount them on a dual arm but the stands that come with them only allow for a tiny amount of tilt adjustment.

A stand similar to that of the 'DS' would cost you $40-50 typically

          • +1

@bopter12: Thanks. I ended up going with the S2722DC as I saw it had some USB ports as well as the type C input being handy for my work laptop

  • Thanks for post, OP & the feedback, guys, just ordered the S2722DC 👍

  • I got the 2721DS last year on sale for $220 around the same time, but this time $70 more. 😖

  • will any of these arrive b4 xmas ?

Now I wonder if Dell actually got enough stock and will start cancelling orders

    • wow - that's crazy!

      XPS8940 now sold out……

      • +1

yep I didn't buy this time, as last deal is for 3060Ti, this time is 3070, hope next time will be 3070Ti or 3080 !!! Still holding on for black friday/cyber monday or do we get that similar 11-11 day like Alibaba in China?

      • Oh Dell is very tricky, now they add more XPS8940 'stocks' to the listing but forcing you to go with 4 yr premium warranty plan. Can you get a full refund on this so called premium warranty within the period?
        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HDX894005AU-4Y-Premium-Support-a…

        • Oh Dell is very tricky, now they add more XPS8940 'stocks' to the listing but forcing you to go with 4 yr premium warranty plan

That's a custom listing for a single unit created for a customer who requested to add extra warranty.

          • @HomeAlone: oh i c, so kind of customer cancelled order 1 off single item only?

  • Sorry if this is a dumb question, but i have a recent HP z-book and a 24inch monitor atm connected through a HP dock (black cube).
Do these newer monitors allow you to just connect one cable from the laptop to the monitor that no only extends the screen realestate, but also powers the laptop (no ac cable into the laptop)? Im keen to get rid of the dock to free up some space and like the idea of the monitor powering the laptop and also having its own usb inputs.
    Thanks!

    • if you've got the black cube docking station, leave the monitor and peripherals connected to the dock, connect the usb from the doc to the laptop and you should be good to go … that's how our office machines work

      • hmm, i just tried that (removed the power cable and lightning/usb cable joined with it from the laptop and plugged a since usb c from the dock to the laptop and although it powered it, the monitor wasnt getting a feed through. Am i missing something?

  • Hi all,

Can someone recommend to me which one is a good buy in terms of specs and the build quality of the laptop unit itself. Thanks in advance

    • +1

      for gaming nitro is better

  • any of these good for video and photo editing? I'm not too familiar with which monitors are good for that.

  • Thanks OP. I'd been eyeballing the U2720Q for all of lockdown but it hadn't come down enough. I've just picked up the S2722QC for about more than half the price. 27"4K with USB-C hub is what I was after. The panel specs are, for the most part, the same. Likely the be same panel production as the U2720Q but didn't hit their exacting standards for the U-line. The Panel Guarantee is the same for post 2020 S-line and U-line.

  • Which one work better with ps5 and Mac mini?

  • I'm assuming that given the PC's are all F processors and not K the CPU cooling is rubbish and something out of 1995?

  • Thanks! I picked up the S3222HS for the home office. The S3222HG is the better deal but I really wanted inbuilt speakers.
