Sorry, I don't know all the individual prices but I just booked 2 adults and 3 kids rtn to Christchurch during jul school holidays for $800 return. It's a very cheap family sking trip!

Mt Hutt/Potters ski fields have kids under 10 ski, stay, travel free. Ski lifts prices are way cheaper than Oz and accommodation is plenty and cheap too. Free shuttle transfers to mountain from car park base if you don't want to use chains.

Travel validity is 3 april to 12 December!!!

  • Looking at goin over the week before June/July holidays, and skiing with a mate.
Air NZ also has $150 all return flights til the 14th so will have to do some research.

  • wowsers thems cheap flyin!

  • I booked flights for two adults to NZ last week. Grrr! :)

  • yep.. awesome. $200 cheaper than I booked last week! for the exact same flights. You can't imagine how happy I am to see this! :)

Contact them and ask to rebook your flights at the cheaper price. They'll refund you the difference. Almost all air travel companies will do this.

Did the same $150 off last time, but with Air New Zealand, only cost around $1190 for 4 adults & 2 children return from Sydney to Christchurch for 10 days at the end of last Jan School holiday. Rented a Tarago from Jucy, stayed in Holiday parks. Fantastc trip, beautiful mountains, safe road and friendly people. But would not go there in Winter unless you are really just want to ski, much perfer summer for 10pm sunset! Don't think it is safe enough to drive a lot at night time!
By the way, the Virgin discounted flights will get you the Christchurch(from Sydney) at mid night! I would wait for Air NZ for discount !

    • I went in summer and now want to see it white.

But I agree, 10pm sunsets really blew my mind. Hard to get used to, but awesome.

    • awesome…we have toured NZ before and this is just mainly a snow holiday. kids deals are unbelievable! ski, travel, stay and eat free!! will save us heaps.

  • Air NZ similar promo
    150 off any return flight

    also ends 14th march

    • Obeserving the discounting cycle for Air NZ, $150 off seems to be the best they can do, and make sure you pay by money transfer rather than Credit cards to avoid extra fee. Their money tranfer was a bit strange, but it worked.

    • Air New Zealand is an airplane partner with Virgin, which will explain why they have a similar deal.

  • Booked in. June 7th to June 17th. $420 with $40 voucher from flight centre to use on whatever.

The last snow trip I did was to Perisher and all booked by a travel agent. Can someone list the things we would need to book if we were doing it ourselves and using these cheap flights?

    • Just 1 thing—>Credit card, but if you want to avoid CC fee, need internet banking. (and a printer to print out ticket of course)
Then book your transport, stay and ski!

u have 72 hrs to book. I used flight centre because they price beat for me. Organise car hire, find out about hotels, book online or call them directly. Turn up at the snow fields, pay and ski. It's really easy.

lot of things can happen so we don't buy packages. My husband usually gives up after day 1, kids may not like boarding/skiing, injuries etc Some days you might just want a half day ski which is 50% off.

      • Thanks for that reply. So did you use flight centre just for the flights and the rest you do yourself? Car hire and accommodation is fine, can easily do that ourselves. And as far the snow: you can turn up on the day and hire equipment and lift passes and doesn't work out much dearer than prepaid?

        • I don't think many people on ozbargain would use a travel agent.

We use a travel agent to plan a trip and give me the best price so we have a benchmark costing, then make sure we beat it for the same or equivalent trip. Not once has a travel agent been cheaper.

I do, however, get why people use them, especially if you are time poor.

I booked two tickets to Auckland on Saturday for $860 (~$430 each) with Air New Zealand. Woke up this morning and saw the "$150 off" deal. Rang up Air New Zealand and asked if they could do anything for me, they said yes, said they'd cancel my previous tickets as long as I book new ones then ring back. Done, $300 saved. Syd-Auckland return for ~$270 each.
Thanks to this, Air New Zealand have just bought my loyalty.

    • that's some good customer service and why i choose to fly air NZ when possible
