Sunbean EM6910 Espresso Machine + EM0480 Grinder $599 + $50 Good Guys Gift Card!

110

Top of the line Sunbeam twin thermoblock machine (steam milk and extract espresso at the same time)

I think it's only $100 off RRP but now comes with the EM 0480 grinder worth $160-200.

Not as good as the $450 deal in QLD http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/61081

But still a good buy if you're looking to pull the trigger on one.

Saw it in the local catalogue (Victoria).

Updated: Any purchase above $500 gets you a Good Guys store credit/gift card via redemption.

Great machine and grinder. Bought at around this price with the grinder last year and it's been going strong since. Can recommend.

  • I bought each machine individually, on its merits, and have been very happy with my choices.
Can't give a package deal much better props than that.

(NB: I've been through two other espresso machines and one other burr grinder before getting the Sunbeam units. I'm not a complete n00b at this ;-) )

True. Unless you shell out double or more ($600 for a Mazzer Mini, + $1K for a boiler or HX machine), this will keep trucking along!

Lots of info on this machine on Coffeesnobs.

      • don't overpack the basket with beans
      • the grinder might need a shim (contact Sunbeam) if it doesn't grind fine enough for espresso.

Good luck getting that God shot.

  • Excellent price for a great machine. The base model acceptable by coffee snobs I believe, thanks to the twin thermo blocks.

Not sure if it's still on, but when I bought mine it qualified me for a free barista course organized by siunbeam.

  • Great deal, if you're after a coffee machine, jump on this. I puchased the EM6910 2 years ago for $521 from Good Guys Chatswood (NSW) this was before the $100 price rise. Getting it at this price with the grinder is a deadset bargain.

  • I love this coffee machine. It does need some training and experience to get working well but it's worth the effort. I've had mine for several years and the only problem I had was the decalcifier clogging when the machine was stored unused for 9 months.

  • another thumbs up here . .. great machine and great coffee.
bought ours back in 2009 and going well.

  • This combo with the grinder is a fairly regular deal promoted by sunbeam (at least once a year). And it's a deal well worth picking up.

  • How come i cannot see this deal on my local goodguys store online? It is not available nation wide?

    • I saw this advertised in a paper catalogue.

      • Thank you so much for your help. May i ask how the Breville Professional 800 deal is compare to this Sunbean model? is the 800 any good? I heard that the BCG450 is not that good, but how about the coffee maker itself? Thanks heaps.

        • Read the threads on Coffeesnob.

The EM6910 probably gives best bang for buck at this price.

I'd say that a good grinder is a better investment than an espresso machine. In this case the bundled grinder is really quite good for the money.

If you do get the Breville, note that you will have to pay extra for a grinder, making total cost of ownership similar to this deal.

Note that the Sunbeam is a twin thermoblock machine whereas the Breville is a single. The closest Sunbeam competitor to the Breville is the EM5900 which Big W had for sale at $198 (now back up to $288).

        • As shawn_low said, if you're going to make espresso, you will need a grinder.

If you have any espresso machine and don't have a grinder, buying a Sunbeam EM0480 is a no-brainer. It's the definitive home-use grinder. You can pay more for a worse grinder, and you'll pay much more for anything better.

Getting it as a bundle with the machine just saves you from having to buy the same grinder separately. It's that simple.

        • The justification of twin vs single thermoblock is so you can multi task, as well as the fact that the 2 different tasks require different temperatures, so the chances of your espresso being too hot while making your 2nd cup there.

The 800's do come with occasional grinder bundle, but CS users have found it does not grind fine enough.

Also, the 800's come with double wall's by default which make 'fake' crema, also with a lousy plastic tamp, where as the 6910 comes with double wall and single walled doubleshot and single shot, and a proper solid stainless steel tamp.

The machine is loud enough to drown a conversation. If that matters then reconsider. I am perfectly happy with mine.
