  • Looks cool and reviews are decent, however many screen size is 65in.

    • I have these on a 65 and they fit fine and work pretty well

    • And it is way too big for a 'standard' TV of 80cm or my 68cm.

      • +2

140cm is the 'standard' tv these days.

    • +4

I bought one on Prime Day for 100 AUD including taxes and shipping - fits fine on my 75in Samsung Q80T. Only need to bring the strips about 7-10cm in from the TV's edge.

      • How do you find it? For the price you really can't complain but from the reviews I've seen it stumbles quite a bit to accurately show edge colours?

        • +1

My setup is with the camera at the bottom of the TV screen, sensing upwards.

In a sufficiently dark room with minimal lighting (nightime with no lights on), the camera is able to accurately pick up the screens edge colours and works perfectly.

In a bright room with lots of lighting (daytime with the windows open on a sunny day), it does not pick up the screens edge colours. I believe this is because the sunlight is beaming into the camera as a reflection off the tv, so it just shows white/yellow/red edges everywhere.

It looks best in a dark room anyways for gaming or movies, so i would not worry about the colour inaccuracy in the day time. If anything, i can just close the windows and turn the lights off to deal with that issue.

          • @DJDuong: Thanks for that. The only really accurate device that can handle HDR is the HDFury but that's almost $800 before you add the LEDs!

            • @gadget: All good! I think there used to be something called Dreamscreen that could do it through HDMI, but theyve closed up shop now. The other alternative i can think of is to create your own using a Raspberry Pi and Hyperion.

              • +2

@DJDuong: yes - unfortunately there are no low cost hdmi grabbers capable of doing 4k HDR so hyperion really isn't that useful anymore. The HdFury will do it (and is also capable of directly driving LEDs) but just too $$ for me.

    • Sorry, was meant to say « maximum » screen size is 65in 🤦‍♂️

  • +2

FWIW, comments state it operates at 110-240v. Unsure if it needs a US to AU plug adapter or if it ships with an AU plug.

    • +5

I bought one on Prime Day for 100 AUD including taxes and shipping - it is a US Plug so a US to AU Plug Adapter is needed.

  • Thanks Op, just got one.

  • Anyone got this working with HomeKit / HomeBridge / Home Assistant alongside its camera tracking mode?

    • +1

Can’t say I have but got it working with Siri Shortcuts. From my research the easiest method is to buy a smart plug and turn it off/on by using that.

      • Awesome, good to know it's at least got that - cheers. I was more thinking easily able to change brightness/colours using Home/Siri when not using the camera tracking

    • +1

Yes…works well with the Honebridge plug-in

  • -1

It was USD $73.57 / AUD $101.68 for me.

    • How did you get that price?

      • Nothing special, that I know of - just used the coupon in OP.

        Order Summary
        Item(s) Subtotal: USD 67.99
        Shipping & Handling: USD 9.09
        Promotion Applied: -USD 10.20
        Total before GST: USD 66.88
Estimated GST to be collected: USD 6.69
        Grand Total: USD 73.57
        Payment Grand Total: AUD 101.68

edit: for whatever reason, my shipping is less than OPs. I'm in regional Vic.

        • Haha I'm the op. I'm in WA maybe that's why

        • Tried various regional Vic Post codes, its showing me the OP's price which is USD 82.08

          • @USER DC: From north, south, east, west… or a few from each? I dunno.. maybe I got lucky.

  • got one. thank OP!

  • Anyone know how these turn on? I assume you will need to turn these on manually every time you turn on your tv?
If that's the case, i'd assume a logitech harmony remote or IFTTT would work best with this

    • I have it in a group called TV so when I ask Google to turn on the TV, it just comes on too. Otherwise you can use the Govee app or just use Siri / Google / Alexa to turn it on by name.

      • If only they had it as USB powered, then can just plug directly into TV.

        • +1

Yeah, pitty about that. If you scroll halfway down the page, it does have quite a few more bulbs than the 5v versions though. You could always get one of those energy saver powerboards - the ones where there's a master device that powers on the other points.

  • Just realised whenever I watch a movie, they generally have black bars on the top and bottom of the screen due to being wider than the TV's aspect ratio…. Would this screw up how it will work?
