3050.. avoid not hold :)
After some digging (because it's not listed on the ebay page) I've found that its a 250 nits screen :(
If 3060 then maybe.
I'm also surprised how many are still 1650's.Other than DLSS, I would probably prefer a 1650/1660 over this because of the performance/price difference.
Nice laptop with Nvidia's lowest end current gen card that gets beaten by a 1660ti.
It’s to replace 1650/ti, which didn’t last long at all!
3050 shouldn't exist
just bought refurbished Acer Nitro 5 with 144hz screen and 3060 for $1149
just saying

one more left
I am not saying that Acer is better
- weaker CPU (more than enough for gaming)
- better graphics 95w 3060
- less RAM
- cheaper
- no need to deal with AfterPay and credit checksCPU is fine for gaming, and for the difference easy to add another 8GB RAM
If it was my money I'd get the Acer but it's only $130 cheaper than the last good deal posted here with an 6-core 11th i5.
I know, could have waited, but it's lockdown mate, I want to game now
CPU should be more than enough, most games aren't CPU bottlenecked
1080p gaming
I want to game now
My new life mantra.
@The Value: I see everything got scooped up from Acer refurbished section lol
I mean, 2080 based $4000 Triton notwithstanding
I should ask Acer for a commission
more Acer nitro 5 refurbished stock is now available
I enjoy mine very much! I gotta say that I am pleasantly surprised by the build quality and the keyboard
2-3 generations ago nitro 5 felt soooo cheap
now it's much, much better
they stuffed up the listing though, they claimed that the panel is 300nit but it's a 250nit panel
I caught them on that and now to make it up for me they are sending a stick of RAM and a charger for free
listing now says 250 nit! they learned their lesson
Thats a whole lot of CPU and not much GPU
2060 mobile kills this
Not that great a deal really
Better off to spend more for gaming or a lot less for work
For comparison — $1,899.00 @ Mwave:
https://www.mwave.com.au/product/asus-rog-strix-g15-156-144h…3050 is a whole lot of poo.
Anyone else noticed the trend of gaming laptops since the 3050 got released?
Where the 3060 laptops where priced between 1200-$1800
The 3050 laptops should have slotted in to 800-1400
Instead have pushed the 3060 pricing up to 1800-2400
3050's just look bad when the gtx 1060 max P laptops out perform them.. and the 1660ti machines are beyond them too
Where does it say that the 1060 outperforms the 3050?
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-3050-mobil…
The RTX-3050 mobile is very low spec, the 1650 is +23% faster.
The desktop 1060 is +60%.
Why are you comparing desktop GPUs and laptop GPUs? I know the 3050 is weaker than desktop GPUs.
The first post said that the 1060 laptop outperforms the 3050 laptop, so I'm curious where they got this information.
@okc0mputer: Because techpowerup lists just the desktop chips in their table, however the 1060 desktop & mobile are almost identical.
The problem with the 30-series when it comes with the mobile variants is that nvidia had to increase power draw a lot to avoid AMD's RDNA2 being too competitive, which lead to poor efficiency. It's why the desktop reference models have a new power connector.
The 3050 is currently only a mobile card so we don't know the difference a non-mobile variant without power limitations would be. But compared to the 1060-mobile, 2.5-gens older (16 & 20 are both turing), it's less than 70% as powerful which is absurd.
@Jimbuscus: Funny you mention that they aimed to have the desktop the same as mobile..
I forgot that was a thing they attempted
Then they did max p and max q
Now they simply don't state any information and have many different SKU's of the same chip
@vanyellow: When I look at them I rarely can find the 30w/45w identifiers that is all we have to go by, the differences are so large and it's easy to get the lesser.
@Jimbuscus: Iv also found most manufacturers don't even mention what wattage the parts are on their sites, which means digging model numbers on review sites to find out what it is
@Jimbuscus: GPU benchmarks and comparisons are confusing. Do you mean it is 70% less powerful or gaming performance will be 70% worse?
The 3050 doesn't look horrible in this comparison video with the 1660: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-2J2wfRXR7g
@okc0mputer: I'm going by my own experience
Iv owned In the past 3 years heaps of laptops
here is the gpus in each
1x 1050
2x 1650
1x 1660ti
3x 3060
1x 1060 (second last machine I owned)Going by the 1650 is killed by the 1060 "FPS wise" I'm pretty confident most 3050s will be outperformed by a 1060 6gb model
As the 3050 will also be limited by the 4gb of ram it has also
@vanyellow: The 3060 and the 3050 mobile variants have a larger disparity than normal this gen
I think this is more for DLSS than Real-Time RT. But then Nvidia can't exactly say it's not for RT because then people would complain that "it's got RT cores and shit so why can't it do real time RT", similar to how they were forced to admit that Real-Time was possible without the RT and Tensor cores but they said it wasn't because it was just so bad
3050?
Anyone getting an error message now when using the after pay code? I thought we had till midnight. I've tried a few products now and just get the same error:
Unfortunately, this code no longer works. Please continue with your order.
HOOOOL-wait oops wrong post
