Better off with something made out of stainless. We had a similar one a while back and the aluminium corroded and paint started to lift off

    • sadly bought it today before this listing.

A lot of the Jamie Oliver gear is trash. I don't really blame the guy, but I would buy it for the name

"but I would buy it for the name"

I wouldn't. Just because there's some celebrity name behind a product, doesn't mean it is a good product.

        • Annoying thing is the one thing that was good, the spatula, is not being made anymore. Wanted to get another one, and they don't exist. Must have been the one thing of high quality they made lol

    This is crap

I wouldn't recommend this. Most of the garlic doesn't pass through the mesh, and because the mesh isn't flush with the body of the crusher, it's cumbersome to scrape off the minimal garlic that does pass though.

Agree. Worst garlic crusher I’ve ever used.

    • Thanks for saving me another heart breaking purchase. I have one where most of the garlic comes out the sides and only minimal garlic gets crushed. I want to throw it out but still waiting to find a good one that does the job properly.

  • Hey, thanks for sharing though..

As others have pointed out, waste of money. So many terrible garlic presses out there, and this is one of them.

Thanks OP, bought with a jar of chilli jam for the full Jamie Oliver experience.

Whack a clove with the side of a sharp knife, chop it reasonably finely, stick it in whatever you're cooking. Takes a little longer up front, but mere seconds to do the cleaning afterwards.

Granularity of the garlic makes a biiiig difference to the strength and character of the flavour, especially in recipes with shorter cooking times. Pressed garlic is its own thing and hand minced isn't an equal substitute in most circumstances.

      • I've never found it to be an issue. I can do anything from big chunks to finely minced with a knife. Crushing it does little to increase the flavour unless you're using it almost uncooked.

This thing is a nightmare to use and clean.

  • Damn, only 5 per customer?

I bought this and it was garbage, so I got this one instead and it is much better:
