  • Are these compatible with LG C1 TV’s that run on webOS (similar to the cablematters USB to Ethernet cable)?

    • I thought the LG OLED TVs already had an RJ45 port? My B7 definitely has one.

      • The native port is 100mbps, I’ve heard people have used a USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter to enable gigabit

        • Fair enough! I don't stream anything over the local network and my 100mbps NBN couldn't deliver more anyway.

@DiscountForThee: Would you ever need gigabit ethernet on the TV?

            • +1

@Sammy Boi: My only guess would be if they're running some kind of NAS / Plex server on the local network (even then, I would imagine they're running a more reliable playing device along the lines of a Shield TV or something). In my experience, the 100mbps has been more than enough for all the 4k streaming services I've tried.

Not only explains why you would want more speed, but explains how it should work with LG and Sony TVS.

    • The product's chip model is RTL8153, it is compatible with MacBook, laptops, but isn't compatible with LG C1 TV.
The cablematters you mentioned has two chip models(RTL8153 & AX88179), Which is you talking about?

      • The cablematters USB 3.0 to Ethernet adapter which has a Realtek/RTL8153 (version 0x5C30)

    • Thanks for the confirmation!

    • So this wont work with windows 10?

      • No, it works with windows 10.

    • But will it work with windows RG?

      • But will it work with windows RG?

        Do you mean windows RT?

It won't work with windows RT, Windows RT is only available as preloaded software on devices specifically designed for the operating system by original equipment manufacturers.

    • if there are drivers for Linux, technically it should be able to compile them for Android which is Linux of course. But to do that, you usually need root to load custom modules and kernel headers for compilation. At least that was how I used to do back in the Android 4 days. I used an USB LAN dongle like that.

How these are compared to eBay..?

    • +2

Expensive compared to eBay, $13.85 delivered, with identical RTL8153 chip https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261210887111
      Got it, tested, works fine:
      VID_0BDA&PID_8153
Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8153 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

      • Thanks

      • Thanks mate! Is there any cheaper 2.5G ones with RTL8156?

      • Although our price is a little higher than eBay, but it's gold plated interfaces what is technically certified as well as high-quality assurance with 24-month product replacement warranty and lifetime friendly technical support, eBay doesn't have those.

  • never mind
