Wish Amazon would just bring their Fire tablets to Australia.

I think you can get them through kogan

    • Any particular reason they don't?

FYI what appears to be the same M8 with the dock from Amazon US is much cheaper.

It's $168.33, how is that cheaper?

      • It is $154.02 for me (with Prime), and it is with the dock. The OP had linked to one from Amazon UK with the dock for $239.28.

Also people considering buying the M8 by itself might like to consider paying a bit more and getting the dock as well (albeit from Amazon US not AU).

I see $154.02, thanks! I have changed the link.

  • My A4 piece of paper and pen has more ram than this tablet and is more functional. Stay clear from 2gb ram models.

    • Can yours write in space? :)

Agreed why can't they stick 4 or 6gb in these?

  • Any of these suitable to use as a dashboard for say Eufy Cameras and Doorbell vision streaming? Also as a dashboard for SmartThings? I suppose the answer is yes, but wondering if anyone's tried it i.e. reality is always different from theory.

    • Integration through software

    • Also keen to know this

I researched this model last year and bought one, based on generally positive reviews. I knew it wouldn't be a star performer, but the reviews were way too kind. It was laggy, choppy, annoying from the outset (before I'd installed a heap of apps, etc). If you have low expectations then it'll probably do the job for basic use. (I managed to return mine.)

    • Same as the above poster. Purchased and returned. Only added 2 or 3 extra apps and it was a punish.

    stop reading at 2GB RAM

  • If 2GB in a tablet is intolerable there must be millions of Americans suffering right now. The Fire HD 8 base model is 2GB and the top model only 3GB. Just looked that up.

That is running Amazon's fork of Android, no? It is not bloated with the lastest, and ever fatter, google play services. Might run OK.
IOS runs just fine in 2GB, but that's a whole other beast.

    • I had a Samsung Tab A 8" and it could barely load The Age without stuttering, and i am running a PiHole. I had almost no apps other than the normal Google suite.

  • Aside from 2GB RAM, micro USB is another turn-off.

  • Can this play COD mobile or PUBG?

    • It can barely load web pages without stuttering lol.

Was going to ask if there is any improvement over an old-school Nexus 7 (2013 model), but looking at the above comments, it seems it'd perform pretty similarly - mainly due to the RAM.

  • Do any of these support Netflix in HD?
