last month when i bought one it was $250 + $49, now question is , i am in Victoria and in lockdown, would they extend it or not ??? does anyone know ??

    • Last I heard the answer is NO.

      • then, i am an idiot who paid $299 for 1 year and didn't even go there once, week later we went in lockdown, dont know how long its gonna be , 2 weeks or 2 months or more !!!

        • If the gym is closed because of lock down, yes.

These 'admin fees' are a joke. Why not just say $250 if that's what it really is.

Every business has 'administration' costs so why should this be a justifiable charge for someone processing an application form and filing it away?
They either want the members or they don't but I wouldn't pay an additional 25% as a processing fee on principal.

It's not just this business - many of them do it - all hidden away as an additional cost.

it's the usual gym drip pricing model.
I remember one "24hr gym" advertising "joining fee waived", but there was an admin fee and then a card fee. not a credit card, but an access card fee. When I asked why wasn't that included already, apparently you don't meed it if you're only coming during normal hours (9-5) but if you want to have 24/7 access you need it.

the bloke was offended that I laughed and said they're scammers.

  • what if we undergo 1 or 2 month lockdown? do they give you free 1 or 2 months on top?

    • +1

Well, that's the business plan of the gym. Get your money upfront for a service you may or may not be able to use in the future.

    • Yeah.. if they don't go into administration before lockdown ends like many gym businesses.

Thanks OP good price, but the locations across melb are really inconvenient for the masses.

you meantheres just none out east and south east

      • Yes east, south east, CBD and surrounded suburbs especially. And with lockdown it's even more difficult to access these locations.

  • $49 admin fee applies

That's equally hilarious as the Optus NBN plan requiring a "connection fee".

Their gyms are so cold in winter

    • i kinda like it when you're working out, it helps alot

  • Although I agree admin fees not included in the price are stupid, at least it's in big writing on the promo and not hidden away like most other gyms/services.

Also I'm annoyed that all these promos are for new/returning customers.. It means I need to go for a month without gym while I wait for a new promo after my membership expires lol

  • Useless waste of money if you live in VIC

  • Don't bother. You will be chasing money if gym don't open until lockdown. They been horrible with communication with lockdown last year with members like me

  • Not cheapest ever, got in 2016 for $99, but still pretty good.

  • got un leaded petrol in 2016 for $1.17.
