amazon will price match…so i don't have to "line up" online like last time…

    • +1

      I reckon
hopefully they get some of those new lego sets.

    • +1

Do Amazon price match automatically? Or do you message them?

      • +4

Yes they normally reduce their price to price match.

      • +1

        Its an algorithm.

      • -8

I wonder why you getting negged?
Amazon should be avoided at all costs.

        • +11

they should be avoided at all costs until those costs are well below others, in which case…Jeff Bezos…i lurve you.

      • +4

Since you two are getting negged, im going to assume that you need to explain why you dont like amazon

        • +21

          I have a love/hate attitude with Amazon.

I hate their work practices, the way they treat their staff globally, taking Australian $ offshore and feeding Bezos' billions.

But it's just too damn convenient and cheaper in most cases. I would like to avoid Amazon where I can but it's becoming harder and harder.

          • +8

@spaiydz: To be fair, when Coles and woollies are charging you over the odds for every day items and have had an oligopoly for decades…i welcome competition for every day items (not the OP stuff, but other things). Its been a long time coming in Oz

            • +2

@dogzilla: And to be fair again, Aussie post gives favoured treatment and prices to Amazon shipping, which other oz companies never got.

Half price specials with free shipping for 1 or 2 items, for a few bucks, doesn’t make economic sense, when we pay as individuals at least $5 for a small parcel, and $1.10 for a letter, when we want to post something.

And our letters can take days to arrive, while Amazon’s parcels arrive, the next day.

But what we say won’t change it, enjoy it while we can….

              Just saying.

          • @spaiydz: Amazon is like a mother, gives you everything you need but makes you feel guilty later

I try to avoid retailers that have been scalping aussies for years. Then, when they finally have good prices, those prices are inaccessible to regular consumers and only to bots.

At least with amazon when they have a sale, I click on, I buy what I want within seconds, and im done. No camping the site, no crossing my fingers hoping it went through, no crashing/server overload etc.

Retailers can adapt or die for all I care. Theyve been scalping us for too long.

        • +9

i completely agree with you, especially regarding all the businesses here and how they've been scalping us for years, but amazon will start doing the same if / when they drive enough of these other businesses out

        • +1

F yeah agree with you. Aussies been ripped for decades at 5 decades if I recall

      • +2

Wow negged because you think it's a bit unreasonable for their employees to have to carry piss bottles. Guess this is the world now.

  • +3

A bit underwhelming comparing to last year, more likely “Kmart” everyday price apart from the $379 Bugatti however most of AFOLs already got or cheaper from Zavvi.

Don’t know if they still need a stupid queuing system as can’t see that many people would wait till 12.

    • Yeah, last year they had 42098 Car Transporter for $150, half price I think.

      • +1

It was $135, more than half price and an absolute bargain

  • BIG W do not offer price match and beat by 10% this year, I can’t see they will move lots of stock.

    • people wonder why amazon is creeping in.

  • +1

    2 decent tech deals,

Samsung A11 for $150 (which is also at aldi on Sat 12 June for $149 as a 'special buy' promotion).

    Logitech G512 for $100.

    • Scratch that. Samsung A11 is at wooleys atm for $99, though stock is limited.

      • Link?

          Not much stock left.

As an example I checked the inner city capital postcodes (2000/3000/etc), and only Adelaide (3 stores), Perth (1 store) and Hobart had stock (1 store). Sydney, Bris and Melb all didn't have any stock in their inner city stores, so ymmv.

          • @metalslaw: Yep no stock near me, which is why it didn't show up. Thanks though.

      • Telstra locked. Good luck when dealing with their staffs trying to unlock it.

Took me about 2 months and last straw contacted Telco Ombudsman to help me out. It took less than 3 days to get result.

I'm still waiting for Lego Ninjago City 70620 that was advertised and never turned up to any of there stores .

    • might take a while for this one going to bigw

    • It did turn up. Most stores got 3-4 of them

    • It did turn up, you were just too slow. My store had 5

  • The Eko Dolby Atmos Soundbar for $249 makes it the cheapest in the range so far. Right?

  • +4

10% off Nintendo vouchers, let's go!!!

    • The only thing I'll grab this year are the Nintendo cards. I wish they still did % off the Xbox cards :(.

    • Where are you seeing this? I can't see it on the site.

    • Any b&m stores will price match the 10% off? OW don’t sell the Nintendo Eshop cards

  • +4

Rubik’s cubes are garbage, get a speed cube instead.

    • Yep. You can get cheap speed cubes from eBay or Amazon that are most likely way better than the Rubik's brand.

      • you think they would innovate

  • Anybody remember from last year if these specials are on BigW's eBay page too? I got a whole bunch of eBay gift cards to burn through, thanks cash rewards.

Does anybody know if the "Laser Active Stylus Pen for iPad" @ $51.75 on page 101 will work with an iPad Air 4?

    In the fine print, it says its compatible with iPad Pro 12.9 (3rd & 4th), iPad Pro 11 (1st & 2nd), iPad Air 10.5 (3rd), iPad 10.2 (7th Gen)

So as its a new model, will it work, I have no idea on these things….

    • I wondered as well. I did see this on the Laser website, which seems to be the same item and does include iPad Air 4 in its compatibility list.

      • +1

I bit the bullet and purchased it.
Can confirm it works on the iPad Air 4.

Not sure if it is missing features, but as a pen it works.

Now got to see how long the tip lasts, as we previously had the "ESR apple pencil" and the tips basically lasted a month and cracked. And there was no way of purchasing new tips.

Anyone who wants the new City Wildlife LEGO sets (like I do) should buy from Big W (or Amazon if they price match). I doubt you will find them cheaper than Big W (or anyone price matching Big W such as Amazon) anytime soon.

  • +6

Just an FYI, the Chamber of Secrets set RRP is $229, the $299 is probably a typo, so still a reasonable saving, but not as good as it may seem.

    85 incher for $1399.

  • Just ordered the galaxy s10e + akg Bluetooth headphones bundle for $457 including postage, got 10% discount because I’m a team member, also used the booster which gives you x15 points which is like almost 7,000 points

    • S10e is tempting, however I wonder if it is new or "renewed"?

      • It doesn’t say anywhere that it’s a renewed phone but if I find out it is I’ll just return it, bought it only because I assume it’s brand new

  • Lego Bugatti already sold out? Can't see it listed.

    • Comes up just fine for me:

      LEGO 42083 Technic: Bugatti

With the exception of WA, there seems to be stock available in-store in a lot of places.

    • you can also buy the Bugatti for $363AUD using code: CHIRON
      was posted here

  • With Nintendo eShop cards I assume you can only buy at the store and not online ?

  • The 10% off Nintendo eShop cards starts 17th June?
    Not available today?

    • In store sale starts 17 June.

    • Hello, do you know if the eshop gift cards have to be used up in one transaction? For example what happens if I only use $45 of a $60 eshop gift card? Does the balance remain?

  • anyone know if you can buy eshop gift cards using big w gift cards?

  • Just got the galaxy s10e bundle and can confirm it’s brand new sealed in the box bot the phone and the headphones, very happy with the purchase :D
