Only way I could afford an AMG.

    • +16

More reliable than an actual AMG too :P

    • -1

I hope you like sinking $20K+ per year into servicing and maintaining your new AMG GTR. Best $101.40 ever spent.

        Use code SAVE10 for $10 off = $91.40 Bargain!

      • I hope you like sinking $20K+ per year into servicing

When you say $20k+ did you mean $1583?

You’ve left out the carbon ceramic brakes and super soft performance tyres that last 5k miles etc with some spirited driving.

          • @JoeyJoeJoe:

            You’ve left out

I didn't leave out anything. YOU said it cost $20k+/year to service and were completely way off the mark.

            the carbon ceramic brakes

The AMG GT doesn't come with ceramic brakes and standard. So if that concerns you don't chose that option.

            and super soft performance tyres

You mean the same Pirelli P-Zero or Michelin Pilot Sport 4s that come on pretty much any performance car even Kias and Hyundais?

            • @1st-Amendment: The GT R is fitted with Michelin’s Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. Pushed hard on a race track, the high grip but soft nature of the PS Cup 2s will wear very quickly. These are not the cheaper run of the mill tyres fitted to “pretty much every Kia and Hyundai” that YOU claim.

You’re missing the whole point of what an AMG race inspired Supercar is all about. It’s clear you don’t understand the running costs of a high performance supercar when taken to a track for spirited driving many times over the course of a year. The GT R is designed to be used on a race track - hence the “R” designation in the name. But some people use it as a daily drive if their ego matches the price tag and instagram selfie count.

Perhaps stick with some other high yielding investments before making such libelous claims.

I never said 'Every'. What is reading…
Ioniq 5N and EV6 GT are quicker to 100km/h than AMG GT and have the same spec tyres.

                before making such libelous claims.

Like 'I hope you like sinking $20K+ per year into servicing and maintaining' lol

But feel free to show receipts of these $20k+ annual services. I'll wait…

                • @1st-Amendment: First of all you've stated the wrong tyres. An error you haven't acknowledged yet and are seemingly unwilling to do so because it damages your flimsy argument.

So if you finally accept that the higher costs and performance attributes of the PS2 Cup tyres not only cost a lot more and wear more quickly, perhaps you can extrapolate some basic math and reluctantly come to the inevitable realisation that 20K+ is accurate. But instead you seem to want to debate semantics around "every tyre" to obscure your lack of basic understanding. Talk about deflection.

Go read any AMG reddit sub and learn how much these supercars cost to run on a race track before you embarrass yourself anymore.

Just waiting for you to show receipts of these $20k+ annual services…

                    Go read reddit…

Reddit lol… Now it all makes sense….

        • +1

To be fair, once it gets out of capped price servicing it can get pretty expensive… I have an AMG out of warranty and recently just had to pay $5,800 for a B service, brake pads, brake discs, spark plugs, trans service, wipers, and some other stuff, and that's not including the 4 tires I need to replace, which if I get the Continental SportContact 7, will cost me another nearly $2k.

I think the $20k per year may be a bit of a high estimate, but who knows, with a more expensive AMG like the GT I wouldn't be surprised.

          • -1

            @tasty-falafel:

I have an AMG out of warranty and recently just had to pay $5,800

            So $6k once, not $20k annually…

I think the $20k per year may be a bit of a high estimate

OP is way off and I called him out on it and now he's trying to cope…

            • +1

@1st-Amendment: Yes, $6k so far this year for a 2016 AMG GLA45, and I will most likely have an A service due before the end of the year which I anticipate another $1k (hopefully not more).

I understand what you are saying, but I think you're taking a very narrow view on it. The figures you are referencing are only fixed for 3 years, and then the owner is at the mercy of the full priced Mercedes servicing cost, as well as the full price of parts and labour. As I mentioned, my servicing costs so far this year are quite high, and this is on a vehicle worth far less than an AMG GT (the closest used GT I could find on Carsales was from 2018 and still cost around $280k)

This also doesn't take into account when shit actually breaks - one headlight and casing on my GLA45 costs around $3,800 per headlight. I have had one of these go and it's painful to have to cough up the $$$ to replace. If you get the performance tyres, it will cost $495+ per tyre and these don't last too long. I think it's a reasonable estimate that a car worth 6-8x more on the used market would have significantly increased servicing and maintenance costs over the years.

In summary, yes you are right, but I also think JoeyJoeJoe is right - European performance cars, particularly Mercedes AMG and BMW M Series are very commonly known to have exorbitant maintenance costs after their fixed price servicing. I believe in his original statement he's referring to the general costs over time, rather than the first 3 years of subsidised servicing.

              • @tasty-falafel:

but I think you're taking a very narrow view on it

Yeah my narrow view is that '$20k+ annually' is not anywhere near reality. My C63 was 10 years old when I sold it and never got close to half of that even once.
But if you have receipts for $20k+ annual services I'm happy to see them.

I believe in his original statement he's referring to the general costs over time

He literally said 'I hope you like sinking $20K+ per year into servicing and maintaining your new AMG GTR'

If it's new it's only $1583, out by only a factor of 12x…
If it's older, then it's likely around the $3-4k mark on average, still 5x less than his ridiculous claim. But he'll never own up to it, he heard it on Reddit so it must be true.

          • +2

@tasty-falafel: I hear ya bro. They are indeed the epitome of OzB's favourite term, High Yield Investment. A costly hobby indeed, but still lots of fun.

I think our new BFF is overwhelmed by something they doesn't understand in any depth and is now trying to cope with mindless nonsensical arguments… I wonder if we'll see an about face or any sort of cognitive dissonance. It doesn't seem like it.

            • @JoeyJoeJoe:

              is now trying to cope

Pot meet kettle. How are you going with those receipts for $20k+ annually? Standby for more deflection in 3, 2, 1…

              • +1

@1st-Amendment: Your basic lack of comprehension and your continued attempts at deflection are making you look even more silly. But by all means please continue for everyone’s amusement.

Standby for emotionally immature comeback in 3, 2, 1…

  • Anyone have any experience with these ride on toys - are they good quality and tend to last? Keen to hear from others and any insights.

    • +1

Are you expecting them to last till the kids ride them to their first job?

      • +1

No, just until they can get their learners’ licence /s

        • +3

Just here for the comments 😂😂😂

      • Having more than one kid I expect it quite relevant. Or, I suppose you could buy three.

    • +2

I grab em when they are chucked out on hard rubbish.

Put a drill battery in them, good to go.

Some times the forward,/ reverse switch contacts need to be cleaned, or spring put back.

Adults and kids flog ours. Never more than a 5min fix to keep running.

As for my parents real Merc… American motor… absolute POS.

  • +1

Was this shipped and sold by Catch? I bought several for around same price but no delivery yet. Lots of people reporting same on FB.

    • Yes, all the toys in this list are sold and shipped by Catch. The FB ones that I saw were from a Marketplace Seller on Catch.

The Merc is now sold out with Catch and listed with a Marketplace Seller at a higher price.

I recommend 12v for the ride on cars. 6v can be a bit slow and lack power.

That's really good for a John Deere the one we bought was seventy grand twenty years ago

  • got black AMG and pink VW Beatles for 20 bucks each, see if they actually arrive

    • Were they from Catch directly or Marketplace Seller? I wonder if it was a pricing error.

      • Marketplace seller, the deal and discussion was posted on markdown addicts Facebook group a week ago

  • Thought this was a real amg.

  • I’d avoid Catch atm so many people getting cancelled orders and some no refunds check the markdown addicts group on Facebook a heaps of comments.

    • If you mean this Facebook discussion, the toys were from a Marketplace Seller on Catch and could have been a pricing error. The toys posted in this offer are part of the Catch sales currently and sold/shipped directly from Catch.

  • Does anyone know if these Lenoxx ride-ons are two-wheel or one-wheel drive?

  • Guaranteed to find 10 of these in Arncliffe during hard rubbish week.
