  • They claim when buying with this that you get cash back in two days and paid directly to the virtual card. Is that cashrewards cash back?

    • Considering it's tied to the Cashrewards account, I would say yes. Hard to imagine a 2 day cashback from Shopback

    • Is it 2 days or 30? I see both listed but one section says:

The cashback will be paid to your Cashrewards account after 30 days of opening your new Freestyle Account.

  • What is this ? Smells like loan shark.

So is zip, latitude, afterpay, and the 100 new BNPL programs. It’s not if you can pay if off immediately.

E: nvm this is straight up a credit card.

    • It's a plain old credit card, just they issue it virtually instead of sending you a physical card.

  • Is this a credit card?

    • Yes, except that you can't touch & feel it

      • thanks, but with the cashback from CR going into the card, that'd function a bit like debit card, isn't it?

        • No. The cashback goes into your Cashrewards account, not to the credit card

I think so, although it describes itself as a line of credit (May be similar to an AMEX charge card)

Here are the details (I don't see any benefit to this other than the no annual fee <= $3000 and No Monthly fee when balance is under $20):
      Limit: Up to $20,000

      Annual fee

      Fee
      Credit limit
      $0 - Up to $3,000
      $49 - $3,001 to $5,000
      $149 - $5,001 to $20,000

      Monthly fee
      $0 - Balance under $20
      $5 - Balance over $20

      Interest-free period
      Up to 55 days

      Interest rate
      16.99% p.a.

*Other fees and charges may apply.

The main advantage seems the tie in with CashRewards - for $75 cashback after approval + apparently fast cashback.
Those Fees would need some management & consideration!
        Will wait for others feedback…
Set a Reminder to revisit in a few days.

$75 for a hit on your credit report.. Probably not really worth it if you're churning cards? Although it does seem pretty quick/easy money, and the CC offers haven't been abundant lately.

    • +2

I'm a bit the same, I only see the benefit for this as being $75 but the downside being paper work and a hit on the credit report.

      • Exactly my thoughts. I shall give it a miss, I am afraid.

        • Can you guys please explain what you mean by a 'hit on the credit report'?

I am thinking to sign up for this card, make some purchases and repay my balance immediately, get the cashback and keep my credit <$3000

  • wasnt it $250 last time>? im waiting for a bigger offer.

    • is the $250 CB for spending $1k still apply?

      • i think no longer eligible… cant find nowhere…

        better ask from the CS

  • So you don't have to spend anything? Just open the account?

  • +3

$75 for a hit on your credit report is not worth it compared to ANZ offer with $0 fee + $800 value in credit card. (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/614545)

Pulled the trigger on this just for the cashback, but have to admit was a bit uncomfortable having to login to my bank to verify income and send photos of license and face :/

Changed my bank password afterwards just in case

    • i'm out then definitely..

    • having to login to my bank to verify income

LOL, that's a breach of all your internet banking T&Cs - good luck if you get breached and your bank knows you've done this 😁

      • +1

I have already changed the password so they can't do anything with the old password anyway

  • yep its a worry so many apps now want to link to your bank account to verify income like Wemoney . i guess it saves sending in payslips and you can always change your internet banking passwords. CBA sent me an email warning me to change my password but im not too concerned apps have access as i dont have funds in that account.
