    Nice TV in the thumbnail.

  • Bargain mid ranger

Dual sim too. Should be mentioned in the title.

Hopefully don't run as hot as this batch: https://theloadstar.com/hong-kong-air-cargo-ban-on-vivo-phon…

    • That article is certainly a bit … inflammatory.

Camera's not going to be great obviously but hot damn those are some killer specs for a $200 phone.

    • Couple of different specs.

    • +2

The Vivo has double the storage, more ram, bigger battery, Amoled display for less money

    • Is there any reason to get the TCL over this?

This one has 8GB ram, Amoled display.

      • +1

the TCL will do 4k video and 60fps 1080p video. That's the only thing I could see that gave it any edge. All in all most people can live without those, 4k video is a memory hog and will probably tear on many budget phones anyway

Nice phone for the price. Love that it has FM radio and 3.5mm jack

I know nothing about this device, but for it to have these specs at a $215 price point is pretty remarkable, especially for local stock.

  • How vanilla is Android on these, and how much preloaded crap that cant be removed/disabled? Any options for rooting and custom roms?

  • ref Funtouch OS 10 (Based on Android 10) whats the difference? so will normal banking android based apps like banking work on this phone?

    • +2

It's literally Android 10. The "Funtouch" is just the skin/launcher.

  • +1

    Says it has NFC too!

    • +1

wow thank you mate, saved me going to JB Hi-fi

just picked one up from an OW next door

      works really well so far

    • +1

Thanks, picked up a blue one from OW.

  • +2

Wow, NFC, Amoled for 200 bucks!

to top it off, the Sony app is reporting that my Sony noise cancelling headphones are connected to this phone using LDAC which is super impressive

  • It doesn't mention it on the site but it's unlocked rightm?

    • running Optus on mine

  • Got one today, thanks mate can't beat 8GB and NFC for the price. 3rd phone in 4 months yay to children.

  • +2

Got one yday, very impressed with it. Comes with a screen protector installed and a cover.
Only thing I'm not a fan of is the launcher but it's not horrible.

    • my impressions exactly

after about 24h of using this, this is a fantastic phone for the price

    • battery seems to last forever
    • display has amazing color range (I set the colors to "professional" in settings, this keeps colors natural and kills the over-saturation)
~ display isn't the brightest, but more than enough for me
    • performance is more than adequate
    • plenty of storage 110GB available out of the box
    • 8GB RAM is superb
    • NFC! Google Pay works
    • Bluetooth 5.0, by the looks of the settings under Developers node, this has AptX, AptX HD, LDAC. My Sony headphones connect using LDAC but you can force AptX HD if preferred
    • screen protector and case included in the box (screen protector is good quality)
    • fast 18W charger included
~ a bit on the large side for me, but see I am coming from iPhone 7 so it's just personal preference
    • during phone calls when using just the phone without any headset, the other side sounds a bit tinny, no bass at all (compared to iPhone where the other side sounds more true to life)
    • when using Bluetooth headset, changing volume on the headset only changes volume of the headset, not the system volume. on iPhone for example, changing volume with volume buttons on the iPhone and on the headphones has the same effect, while here it's like 2 different sound level settings. I would rather that changing volume on the headset and on the phone were doing the same thing

all in all I am glad I came across this deal as my iPhone 7 is really showing its age and needs to be restarted twice daily to work properly. replacing it for $215 is fantastic. I tried earlier this year with Oppo A52 but that didn't work out as that was just impossibly slow and unusable, while this one is snappy using the same CPU. mystery

    • @shabaka
Thanks for the review. Could you please check and tell me if you are you able to do call record on the phone.

      • umm I never had to do that, and I don't see an option in call screen unfortunately

    • Hows the camera?

  • I am getting 404 errors for both links now :-(

    • Yep it's gone from the Vivo Page.

      Maybe try your nearest Officeworks.

      • +1

wow, how these things work out. Phoned a friend and got the last 2 from Punchbowl. Good luck to others finding it, officeworks are notorious for losing their stock when it's down to single digits. And no thanks for not picking up the phone at the two I called!

  • Got the last unit from my local OW. Amazing price for the specs

  • Seems to be more stock of the Jade Black at JB: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/vivo-x50-lite-128gb-jade-…
