  • Good price. But I can't help but feel that you would still be reaching for the tape measure in most instances?

    • Got it a dyes, totally agree. Good for horizontal distance measurement

    • i own one of these , the display is tinyyyy, it is only of value if space is a real problem and you want to leave it in a hand bag, etc, otherwise get one with bigger display. i also own a leica and bosch with larger display and they are what gets used most ……

also no case or pouch so screen might scratch over time if left in a hand bag ……

you buy this not because you want a digital tape , but because you want a tinyyy digital tape to leave in a bag …….

      • . i also own a leica and bosch with larger display and they are what gets used most ……

I have a Bosch and this LS-1. I use the LS-1 a lot more simply because it's so small, which means it lives in my everyday backpack. It slides into one of the little pockets where it fits perfectly so no concerns about scratching or anything.

you buy this not because you want a digital tape , but because you want a tinyyy digital tape to leave in a bag …….

Yup, it's not something you buy to use onsite every day because it's so small. But that's its main selling point as well.

  • I have one, smaller than a tape measure and quicker to use.
Prob not mm perfect, but good for the types of measurements I need and keeps the weight and bulk of my work bag down.

  • Thanks OP. I have one I got for 80$ from Total Tools which was great, but the display is useless except in total darkness, even though the unit reads distance in near daylight.

This one having an LCD screen is a winner …

    Ordered one just now…

I have this one and it's only good for indoor use, rubbish for outdoor daytime use. The laser is not strong enough for 40m. For ~20 don't expect too much from this one.

Thanks Op.. I was just considering spending ~80 for something similar on Amazon. It's rare ozbargain saves me money for random electronics rather than me buying something I never knew existed!

It's innaccurate and has many other problems. I have one - its terrible. Not recommended

    • Was about to buy and read this, would like to know what the most accurate one is. Might be worth investing a little more

      • On my site the boys use a Hilti brand which costs around $800+. The main benefits being accuracy, long range, indoor & outdoor and that the laser can rebound from all surfaces matt/gloss/ wood/ steel etc… which some of these el'cheapos struggle with sometimes.

    • Mine is very accurate (have tested side by side with high end one and known distances). Perhaps with these being cheaper, there are good and bad ones (not calibrated or shonky lens)? Return if not accurate, they do offer warranty/replacement/refund.

Having said that. I consider it more a toy and great for getting approx distances (which end up being surpisingly accurate) etc.

  • Literally bought a 60m laser just last night…

      That's a very long laser!

Handy for checking distance to moon etc.

  • Getting "this coupon can only be used 80 times"

Does anyone have the link to compare all the models?

  • I have one that lasted about a year. Barely used. Turns on normally but fails to take a measurement.
    Was reasonably accurate when working.

BTW in case anyone doesn't know, you can calibrate it by +/- 7mm in setup mode.
