Upvote just for the description.
The same GPU from the same Store was $1899 2 months ago, but I guess supply and demand…
yeah the market got worse after dec/jan
Am sure the price of crypto has nothing to do with that.. ;)
6700 xt still in stock for $899
https://www.ple.com.au/Products/645531/XFX-Radeon-RX-6700-XT…70% is a massive boost in performance also user bench is a dog shit benchmark
Diminishing returns, a 70% boost is a lot.
Was this actually in stock today? says out of stock now. Was thinking of getting one for a second rig…the only video card that vaguely resembles value at the moment.
Yea it was in stock in WA warehouse when I posted it, but now out of stock
It's amazing that over 2 grand for a video card represents value now.
Honestly I'm just waiting. For a few years it looks like but prices are just out of control now. The money is just getting ridiculous.
I already have a 3060Ti in my main rig but am tempted to go all AMD given the 6700XT is actually available (then probably scalp the 3060Ti off to a miner for $1300 like everyone else is doing these days).
Eat the crypto miners and spruikers.
Has been out of stock every day I've checked since it popped up on ozbargain last week. The Black version is only $50 more though (and a little faster) and is stock.
My problem is wanting to do 4k60hz thought so I haven't jumped on it, even mining until prices come back down and grabbing a 3080/6800xt will result in a pretty significantly loss. Might just deal with 1080p for a while longer. My brain has forgotten what reasonable GPU prices even are anymore, considering the 2070 Super was selling for $500-600 last year.
Cough.. 1080ti was $700 at launch.. Cough
@windwai: Cough… bullshit… stop spreading fake news. Check the 1080ti posts on this website to see the "deal" price was $900. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080…
@misu p: You are right, I forgot this was the price in USD.
Definitely not in stock.
What the ….
There's still 6800xts going for 1699 and last week saw some saphhire nitros for 1449. $1999 is the cheapest 6900xt I've seen available at the moment.
Either way this has been in stock for over a week now, no one paying these trash prices.
you can get 6800 xt on gumtree now for $1600 brand new…not a bargain but….
Can you show me where I can find 3090 for the same price as you said? I would be very interested in buying that one
They're closer to $3000+.
3090's are selling like hotcakes for above 3K at the moment mate. Maybe check the reality of the market before you post drivel like this.
The S in MSRP stands for SUGGESTED, but it's the market that determines the real pricing.
those who get 6900 or 3090 has no limits on spending or budget. Not our-place to judge and no amount of reasoning would change that either.
Man people are dying for GPUs.
I wonder if I can sell my HD 7770 I was going to throw away.
Edit: No way! I can get 16 bucks for it! https://au.webuy.com/search?stext=hd%207770 Sold! Enjoy 30 FPS at 720p gaming, friend!
A R9 290 has sold for $210 on ebay.. when I bought it in 2015 for $265. WTF!!!
I bought a vega 56 for $440 brand new off ebay 2 years ago… can still sell it for $500+ now. WTF!!
just saw two Sapphire Vega 56 Nitro sold for $585 and $600 on ebay yesterday………
If I can offload my Sapphire Vega 56 Pulse for around $500, I guess upgrading would be slightly more affordable.
I bought my r9 290 for $450 new then sold it 2 years later in 2018 for $280 - to be worth the same value now is just wow
god love those minersDamn, I sold my 290 for about $100 a couple of years ago.
However I bought a 1060 6GB for $150 at the same time, which is now around the $250 price. It's like housing, if I sold my GPU for the insane price it gets I'd jump into the market of buying a new GPU at insane prices… can't win.
Bring on the great bitcoin crash of 2021, when we can all pick up used GPUs for pennies on the dollar!
I occasionally think about upgrading my 960 6GB from 2015, and then look at the prices…
The Xbox Series X and PS5 look like bargains by comparison.
@Xenocaust: I keep thinking I should buy a PS5 instead, but I can't find one of those either.
That's it! I am waiting too. I bought my asus strix gtx 1080 second hand off a miner in 2018 for $520 and I could sell it now for about 600 but then I would have to overpay myself to replace it and I likely wouldn't get as nice of looking card either and probably end up with some ugly twin fan budget model lol.
Just checked - an RX580 I bought in 2018 for $250 is now selling for $450+ used; that's actually cooked.
In the exact same position as you - if I had a backup graphics card, I'd have sold my rx 480 already lmao
Ive got a RIVA TNT2 card I found in a box in the cupboard recently…. still have the original box for it. Gotta be worth a few thousand surely.
Edit: My mistake, its not a TNT2, just an Asus AGP-V3400TNT 16MB with video in and TV out, but that should be plenty enough.TV out was premium back in the day. Ditch that 15 inch monitor and hook up your uncle's big* screen TV for some epic Quake II
* not actually that big
Yep, sure was. 68 cm was a big screen.
I bought my Rx 5700 gaming oc for $499 in December 2019
Sold it for $900 on gumtree
WTF?!?0.0
No, I really do want to wait, all these prices are insane.
Run out of kidney, damn
Fishing in your own pond and you will run out of fish, but in the ocean it's a never ending supply.
Honestly I don't know why kidneys have so much value, everyone has them… just waiting to be plucked…
Guess I'm gonna keep using my trusty 1080ti for another few years…
Aren't the US government thinking of banning Bitcoin?
Lolwut
Not with their golden boy Elon buying billions of it…
Nope, even if they do, its not going to change anything. They can't enforce it. Bitcoin is never getting banned in the US.
They hold a huge bitcoin wallet, I think mostly as a result of taking down Silk Road? Probably useful for them to have a form of currency that they can use to pay for things somewhat covertly.
I can't believe how insane graphics card prices has become. Over $2k for a graphics card! The 3090 is even more insane, $3.5k.
3090 fell in price not long ago - you could get it for mid 2k, now it went up again
I managed to get 6800 xt for 1450 few months ago, its now $1700…..crazy
Wait why are people buying this, when 6900xt can be bought for $2k and 6800xt for $1.7k TODAY
link?
you wanna hook me up with that 6800 xt dawg?
https://www.arrowcomputers.com.au/shop/product/sapphire-nitr…
people are actually interested in 6800 xt at that price, @@
Cheers this will give me much better performance in farmville
The real question is, why would you pay 1.7k for a f..ing graphics card?
any deals on midrange cards? these monster deals only apply for <1% of PC enthusiasts
No good, just no good.
Is this a troll post.
Get outta here manFor $500 more you can get the rest of the PC from Vicro albeit with the less powerful RX 6800XT
https://www.virco.com.au/collections/desktop-pcs/products/vi…
that Virco desktop is sold out
Lol description
Expensive $$$
Na I’m still good with my voodoo 5 card thanks
What kind of games do people buy these gfx card for? I mean adding CPU, RAM, Motherboard, and everything else to make a complete PC would cost more than 5 grand. Right?
Solitaire.
Commander Keen, hitting some pretty decent FPS on it using 6800xt.
But seriously, I have my PC hooked up to a 75" 4K tv so only game in 1440p+ resolutions to keep things looking nice, amazing how taxing it is on a card to be running at higher resolutions on some games. Right now playing Far Cry 5, max settings on everything @ 1440p (1.2x resolution scale) and getting ~100FPS, if I turn resolution scale up to 2x the drivers + game crash so even still not powerful enough.
I'm waiting for Far Cry 6 to come out and plan to install Red Dead 2 (if I find it on here at the right price). Coming from a console the difference in graphics quality is significant and not being tied to a platform is a long needed change.Old School Runescape, csgo
6900 xt and 3090 are not cards for games…..if ppl are buyin it only for that then yeah, they have too much cash
but a 3080 or 6800 xt - I got it to play 1440 p games at 240 hz
rest of the comp is probably the same price as the GPUI personally tend to disagree, I get that the 3090 seems like bad value. I have a 3090 because that 10gb of VRAM on the 3080 will date extremely poorly, especially at 4k. My 3090 was quite expensive but I plan to have it for a long time so the VRAM is what made me decide to go this way.
By the time the 10GB on the 3080 is an issue you can buy the 5080 and will have spent as much in total as a 3090 but will have close to twice the performance.
Worst case you just turn textures down from Ultra to Very High, which you won’t even notice anyway.
@get-innocuous: I am not so sure about that, some games in 4k are already using more VRAM than 10gb. Might be a bad example but I fired up COD Cold War the other day because I got it free with my GPU. The first time I played it, it was using 22gb ram, not sure what was going on there but the next time I tried was using between 13-15gb. I think its closer than you think.
@drinkin-beer: unfortunately if you look at all reviews and comparison you will see that 3090 costs almost 100% more then 3080 and offers 7% better performance
any way you spin it it just doesn't make financial sense to buy it for gaming only
ppl that buy this usually use it for work and game on the side…..I dont get 4k gamin….to me if you want that you can just game on TV with new consoles now….it cant be that much different
2k 140hz gaming is the king IMO@botchie: I didn't say I bought a 3090 because it made financial sense, obviously its ridiculously stupid money. I bought it because I can have it now (well like 4months ago actually) and keep it for many years to come. IMO the 10gb VRAM is just not enough to last me through the next 4-5 years. I wanted to make one purchase now and enjoy it for a long time to come.
As for 4k 120hz, its a huge difference when playing on a TV compared to 1440 120hz. The difference is very noticeable IMO on a screen that size. maybe on a smaller screen it would bard to notice but its very noticeable on a 55 inch.
@drinkin-beer: fair enough - though I am 100% sure you WONT keep it for 5 years :)
you cant really play any games on 120 fps at 4 k these days?
not including that dlss crap@botchie: Hahaha you got me there. My plan is to step down in resolution when I have the room for a monitor as well as a TV. This will hopefully mean I can make it last a bit longer. Given my track record though, I probably won't be able to help myself and upgrade next gen.
This is true, currently playing most games at 80-100fps in 4k which is enough for me :-)
@drinkin-beer: Yeah that's why I went with 1440p, I get good fps and have a nice 32 inch monitor
My dream set up, only took me 20 + years of having a sub standard piece of crap PC's@botchie: Glad you got there mate! Hooefully soon I will have the space to get a monitor, defo going to be an ultrawide though 🙂
$5000 ?? Hold my beer.
https://www.kotaku.com.au/2021/03/you-are-nothing-compared-t…Again, spending that much money to play games or just showing off to others that you can afford to spend that much on it?
Seriously who's got more than 2 hours a day sitting Infront of a computer? Don't we all have jobs, family, kids and pets? I played video games since the arcade days and still occasionally play when I have an hour or two on weekends. But damn spending that much on a video card..
Yeah it is crazy, but of the 0.1% of Australians who are PC gamers, if 1% of us are tragic addicts with cash to spare, that's still like 200 people trying to buy these crazy cards.
(Plus all the thousands who click just to discuss the loopy market right now).
@ItsMeAgro: I cant afford the room he's building for it… let alone the caseor the ramor….
yeah $5k is nothing.
I used to have a $35k SGI Tezro on my work desk (2 actually). Then we chucked them in the bin when IRIX was no longer updated and replaced with a 3x $15k linux boxes. But all of that was small stuff compared to the supercomputing facilities they were linked to.
Really glad I didn't sell my 2080Ti for $800 right now in those first few weeks after release of the 30 series…
eh you still paid over 2k for it….YIKESSS
Actually, I paid $1999 ;) That was also in September of 2018. I've got my money's worth.
how? its a re branded 1080ti with RTX - only like few games had it since that time….anyway….if you think so
ppl paying $1600 for 6800 xt is about twice of a deal vs anyone that bought that rip off card@botchie: You're thinking of the 2080 which cost about $1k give or take. The 2080Ti is ~30% faster.
@BargainKen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCfwuh2vsxY
where do you see 30%?
its 20FPS…some games its under 10 which is not even 10% performance gain
if you are getting 140 fps on 1080ti and 160 on 2080ti - that is not a performance increase as you cant even see/feel itwhat you can see is difference between 1080ti and new 3080 which is over 50%
you might want to justify your purchase but unless you bought it to try rtx or didnt upgrade from 9 series then it was just wasted investment IMO
Still better that he kept it. Only got ripped of once lol
