In the previous deal you linked it was not well received as a deal if the comments are anything to go by.

    • I know, mostly because of the price.

      • +1

Yes, those comments were at $579 .

You'd be lucky to find a better phone for $375.
OLED, waterproof, great camera. Snapdragon 845 . Android 11.

And of course, pure Google. I believe it will get Android 12, but don't count on security updates for long after.

        • Yea 6 months of updates left. Only 4gb ram is the real killer, along with one of the worst performing batteries in a flagship in a while.

Considering pixel 4A 5G is 599$ in Telstra or office works or jbhifi few places price match , still is this better price ?

    • JB HiFi refused price match today on the 4a 5G. Had to order online with telstra.

Its showing up as $458.95 for me?

    • Just 5 min ago, it was $375.95. Now price has gone up.

These will be out of support (no guarantees android or security updates) in October 2021. That's 7 months away.

I like Pixels but an older model just isn't value at this point.

    $375 / 7 = $53.57 per (useful) month of life.

A newer Pixel 4a 5g is a far better phone and supported until November 2023. They're on special at $599 I believe.

    $599 / 32 = $18.72 per (useful) month of life.

Pretty disgraceful support, less than three years!

      • +1

It's not 'guaranteed', who knows if it will be extended but the support for the pixel 2 only just stopped. Heck my old android 5 tv was still getting some updates from Sony

Got a new 3 XL replacement coming soon should still get a good price unless keep for a spare (white 128gb), the screen, speaker, and CPU still better than this pixel 5. and camera.

pixel 4 no fingerprint. always something with whichever model..

        • +1

I went from an Nexus 6P to Pixel 2XL to Pixel 4XL. I thought the fingerprint sensor would be a deal breaker but over 12 months on I don't know if I could go back to using a fingerprint sensor

          • @chiprillis: We'll you can still turn on face recog, i'll test that soon. I just heard it's not fully supported by apps and banking apps.
And if it works in pitch black from the bedside table at 3am i'll be impressed, not typing in pin numbers more than necessary

btw the 6p was cool, i got an upgrade to pixel 1 XL for free when that one stuffed up :)

            • @G-rig: I went from 6p to pixel xl to pixel 2xl all through rma. So many issues haha

Pixel 4 like iPhone uses ir scanner. All other phones do not. So not the same thing at all. Even pixel 5 says it’s not secure method. Pixel 4 was though

              • @onlinepred: upside down spinning me out haha
yep been good with a few replacements/upgrades, has always been worth buying from the google store but these days 2y anyway. anyone could hold up a photo of you so not sure about that one.
Either way it's just a phone, was good when the first S2's came out, amoled.. lost or stolen lol

                • @G-rig: They check for life, like the iPhone does too. Uses IR to detect movement. They are as secure as fingerprint, just 100x more convenient unless you wear a mask 24/7

          • @chiprillis: Finger print sensor on V40 is my life. I can never leave it.

    • Thats weird. My mate has a Pixel 2XL and he is still using everyday and finds it (useful)

      • +1

Fair enough - I guess it means different things to different people.

I define (useful) as secure and safe enough to punch in my banking password - without security exploits allowing my data to be mined

        :shrugs:

        • Get a mac if worried about security lol

      • Yea no more security updates don’t put everyone off. It should though

  • +1

    White pixel still $384.63

  • Black available again for even cheaper.
