Pro-tip: You can usually bargain the rates in person at a hotel, and get far more than 10%.
Biggest amateur tip.
Considering cancelling my earlier booking and using the code, but I'm afraid of their 'up to 30 days' processing of refunds…anyone dealt with a Hotel.com refund before?
They're absolutely terrible. A couple months back the website stuffed up and charged me full price instead of the discounted price for a hotel, I called up immediately and they were great over the phone saying they'd get me a manual refund and that it would take up to 2 weeks.
I had to call up 4 more times to hassle them over a 3 month period to chase it up. Each time they said it was just taking a while as there were a lot of refunds in the queue, until the last time when they said the supervisor just hadn't bothered to sign off on it when I first called and that was all that was needed. Finally got the money back last week but was pretty unimpressed with the speed of their refund.
Thanks for posting.
I am happy with this deal offered.
The hotel we contacted would not go cheaper than the rate on wotif/lastminute.
Searching on hotels.com, I got a better rate with this discount.
Cheers. Thanks! Just saved me a stack for my Darwin trip. Vibe hotel Darwin, other sites have it for $129 per night, hotels.com have it for $90, minus an extra 10%… Sweet!
Many thanks for this… lucky the other site had 'free cancellation' (but yes, takes up to X days to fully refund; they actually had to 'guts' to put the slowness on the banks). Anyway, saved AUD$50 (3 nights) on the malaysia hotel. While might not seem much, its still a savings nevertheless.
Every extra dollar in your pocket is what this site is all about!
"Discount code is not valid for the hotel you have selected"
Thanks. Just a heads up there was another code GETFIT that is valid between now and I think feb next year. Just used it.
Thanks for the post! Have saved a few hundred dollars in hotel bills over the past 2-3 months because of it.
Not valid for all accommodation it seems.
