  • Does anyone know if these count to spend requirements for Flybuys deals, like spend 4x $50 in 4 weeks?
I know mobile recharge vouchers do, but I'm not sure about gift card purchases.

    • Giftcards, iTunes cards, recharge cards are generally excluded from flybuys points

And yet recharges work, so I'm looking for real world experience, not T&Cs.

        • hmm you are right .. below were my past transaction for gift cards and google play cards, each $50 for 1000 flybuys points, and the $100 spent got 100 flybuys point .. which meant they are counted towards your flybuys weekly promotion

Why don't you try in the real world Puffy and find out it doesn't work ! I don't think too many people are interested in a recharge loophole lol .

PS report back your finding because multi card people can take em to the cleaners if it works :) But they already know the answer .

Tested and failed, stacked with spending $160 to get XXX flybuys last time with MC GC, no luck, only base points given

        • thanks for the confirmation

          • @elcheapo: So prepaid mobile phone recharge vouchers count towards the spend target?

            • -1

@Mad Max: like others said, it only add to flybuys base point but will not count toward the special promotion $xx dollars spend target

            • +1

@Mad Max: Lyca mobile recharges 100% count toward $xx spend targets. I get one every single time I complete a 4 week for 10000 points offer.

  • Can google credit be used for one drive subscriptions?

    • Should be able to; I can use mine for my Dropbox subscription

    • Note that due to Google's cut in Google Play subscriptions, it is often more expensive (even with the 10% discount) to buy subscriptions with Google Play credit.

However, if you're referring to Google One (a subscription which grants more storage in Google services, including Google Drive) instead of OneDrive (Microsoft's cloud storage solution), that can use Google Play credit without any additional surcharge.

      • 20% discount*

        • -1

          ~17% discount

@2024: Hahaha, someone get upset on math?

You have to spend $50 to get $60 of value.
            Not $40 for $50 value.

            • @2024: If you're already spending the extra $10 at Coles anyway, then it's not an additional amount. I'm getting $50 extra value for $40 extra spend. That represents a 20% discount.

              • @puffinfresh: How are you only spending $40?
You have to pay for a $50 card, there is no getting around that.
$50 spend. You then get 2000 for points which gives you $10 of extra value.

                It's not $50 with $10 discount.

                • @2024: I'm spending $40 EXTRA. I'm going to be spending money at Coles regardless to buy groceries. Let's say next week I buy $100 worth of groceries.

Without this deal, I'd spend $100.

With this deal, I spend $50 now, and $90 next week (thanks to the 2000 flybuys points).
I spend $40 extra, and get $50 of value.

                  • @puffinfresh: You have no idea how this works do you.
In your scenario you just made the value percentage on your original spend 10%.

It doesn't matter how much you perceive to be spending, you could plan on spending $100 next week so it's only $90 out of pocket, but then you're out of pocket $140 for $150 of value. So in that situation the value is only is only 6.7%

It doesn't matter how much you spend, you are still spending $50 on a gift card which will give you $10 of shopping next time.
$50 out of your wallet/purse will give you $60 of value, which equates to 16.7%.

                    • -2

@2024: I will repeat: I'm getting $50 extra value for $40 extra spend. That represents a 20% discount.

                      $50 out of your wallet

No. $40 is coming out of my bank account to acquire this $50 gift card.

but then you're out of pocket $140 for $150 of value. So in that situation the value is only is only 6.7%

By purchasing this gift card I am out of pocket $40. The $100 is being spent regardless; not as a result of this deal. I spend at least $2500 at Coles a year, so by your logic, this deal means I'm out of pocket $2540 for $2550 value, or a 0.392% discount.

Can you buy Google play and ultimate eats for 4000 points

  • +1

Check participating restaurants on good food before buying. There are bugger all in some states.

    • +1

Restaurant Choice is worse. Even among accepted restaurants, their cards don't work half the time. I would recommend people avoid the Restaurant Choice card

Coles gift card deals beat woolies.

    • Hardly.
Can only claim once per type of gift card at Coles, I've bought an iPhone with stacked gift cards purchased from woolworths.

      • yeah but with woolies you cant buy gift card with gift card sucks

        • Maybe if you're buying 1 card and can jump though the loophole and avoid scrutiny of register operators to actually buy a gift card with a gift card, then Coles might come out on top.
But to make any decent purchases, waiting for the 1000/2000 points on a House/teens/Him to stack multiple times comes out a lot better.

  • only one card type per transaction? do i get 2 x 2000 points if i buy 2 x $50 google card in 2 transactions?

    • To the second question: no

  • Bonus points can only be collected once per gift card type and will not be awarded more than once for each gift card type including different denominations of the same gift card.

Does this mean if I buy 1 google gift card and 1 good food gift card i can get 2x 2000 points?

Is coles prepaid mastercard dead? Never have discount anymore

  • Don’t bonus fly buys points show immediately on your receipt at Coles? They do at Woolworths.

    • +4

They never have. They show up the following evening after your qualifying purchase

      • Thanks. I mostly shop at Woolies and used to seeing the bonuses appear instantly.

Just a caution, best check if no promo info displayed at the card rack. I went to the Perth Coles "Central" store in Raine Square and they didn't have the promo material put up. I asked the info desk and they said Central/CBD stores don't do weekly catalogue promotions. Maybe this is the same in other states too?
I said to staff this exclusion should be stated in the promo, and was told it's in the T&Cs, but I don't see it in the OP's image.

    • Central one in Brisbane City. Their exact names are coles express. U can treat them like Coles Fuel stations. These coles expresses of course don't do weekly promotion!

      • Hard to know their exact names unless it's on the storefront. The entrance of the Perth city store which is about half the size of a normal store has a sign Coles (with a subline Central) i.e. Central is a branding term like Express. If by branding Coles intends to differentiate some stores, it would help to state which brands of Coles stores will carry the promotion. How would people know Express = Central?

The store i went to only had $30 gift cards for Ultimate eats …

Same, I passed through 2 different Coles in Melbourne and neither had the $50 card
