    Hmmm this or the Xiaomi 34 inch….

    • I got one of these back in June last year and have been happy with it. I haven't seen the Xiaomi in person so can't comment on how they compare

      This: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-34-wqhd-curved-219-ultraw…

      It's the updated version of the posted unit.

        Can you recommend any reason to go for that one over this?

        • The only difference I can see is the curvature of the screen (1500R in this deal vs. 1000R in jasswolf's link).
          * edit *

          Curvature:      1500R
          HDR:            HDR400
          Response Time:  5ms

          versus:

          Curvature:      1000R
          HDR:            Yes
          Response Time:  OD:7ms

            @fedaykin: Also the VESA mount is different. 75x75 on this vs 100x100 on the other.

          • @fedaykin: Hmm thanks, so does that mean this one is actually better in terms of response time and HDR?

          • +1

            @fedaykin: Brightness seems different too?

        • The 1500R is bottom barrel in performance, while the 1000R seems to point to similar performance to the Samsung G5 27".

          The 1500R was their 2020 model, this is their 2021 model.

          • @jasswolf: The 1000R Kogan looks to be inferior to their earlier 1500R model in some regards (lower brightness, slower advertised response time, one less HDMI 2.0 port) so if the 1500R is bottom of the barrel then it's probably fair to say the same of the newer one regardless of its release date, and likewise with the G5.

            I understand the 1500R Kogan uses the same panel as a bunch of other monitors released in the last year or so including the Xiaomi and Nixeus EDG 34. I know is not an apples to apples comparison, but this does not paint an especially flattering picture of the G5 or anything else based on its panel.

            • @itscyanide: This is the real comparison: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/samsung-jg50-vs…

              HDR is pointless on both. HDR400 (which I believe is now a defunct standard) is the ability to hit 400 nits and accept HDR input. That's pretty much it.

              SDR content is typically viewed at 80-150 nits, unless you work in a glasshouse or want to sear your eyes. The fact is that it's a panel binning from the Samsung G7/G9 line, and where it might fall behind in some rise times, you can see it likely comes ahead in total response times, leading to an improved result.

              And all of that is without a discussion on colour volume and contrast.

        I think they are a bit different, they have different colour coverage, HDR is not the same, VESA mount & curve is different. I would say the the one you posted might be a lesser model bit newer?

        I'm interested in this monitor but very hard to find any good reliable review.

    • Warranty differences? 1 or 3 years.
      Extended Warranty seems always an extra profit area for Kogan.

  • I've got the older model Kogan with the 1800r curve and 100hz refresh rate. Zero complaints at all.

    Would I notice a significant difference in the curve going to this?

  • I'm still a fan of my Xiaomi… and I came from a an LG 34 flat to the Xiaomi curve and it is quite immersive but depending on what you do, gaming or productivity, YMMV…. :)

  • Look for Viotek GNV34DBE reviews for equivalent reviews. Been happy with it since I posted about it as well: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/603221
